CFL Week 14 Betting Preview
By Mike Pickett
Oddsshark.com

Not only are the Ottawa RedBlacks a surprising 7-4 SU on the season, but they've also been a profitable wagering option at 8-3 ATS heading into their Week 14 CFL odds matchup at home against the Toronto Argonauts this week. Here's a look at the trends for the four CFL betting contests on tap for Week 14 of the season.

CALGARY AT WINNIPEG

Last 10 Meetings: Winnipeg 1-9 SU, 3-5-2 ATS | OU 4-6

The Blue Bombers and the Stampeders have met twice already this season, with Calgary claiming two SU victories but the teams splitting the ATS results at 1-1. The Stampeders topped the Blue Bombers 26-25 as a 7-point home favorite back on July 18, and then beat Winnipeg 36-8 as a 5-point road favorite on August 29. Both of those games turned out to be UNDER results for totals bettors, with the UNDER now 4-1 in their five most recent meetings.

B.C. AT EDMONTON

Last 10 Meetings: Edmonton 3-7 SU, 4-6 ATS | OU 5-5

The Lions topped the Eskimos both SU and ATS in the first meeting of the season between the teams on August 6, winning 26-23 as a 2.5-point home favorite in that OVER result for totals bettors. Edmonton was a perfect 2-0 both SU and ATS in its two games against B.C. in the 2014 season, but overall they've only covered the spread in four of their last 10 games against the Lions dating back to 2011.

TORONTO AT OTTAWA

Last 10 Meetings: Ottawa 1-2 SU, 2-1 ATS | OU 1-2

The RedBlacks lost to the Argonauts but covered the posted spread on the CFL betting lines at the sportsbooks in their first meeting of the season on August 23, falling 30-24 as a 9-point road underdog in that OVER result. Ottawa and Toronto split their two games last season 1-1 both SU and ATS, with the UNDER having paid out for totals bettors at the sportsbooks in both of those contests.

MONTREAL AT SASKATCHEWAN

Last 10 Meetings: Saskatchewan 3-7 SU, 3-7 ATS | OU 3-7

The Roughriders have failed to cover the spread on the CFL odds at the sportsbooks in each of their last six games against the Alouettes as those teams meet for the first time this season on Sunday. Saskatchewan went 1-1 SU but 0-2 ATS against Montreal in 2014, and they last covered in a game against the Alouettes back in July 2011. Five of their last seven matchups have been UNDER results.

CFL Betting Notes - Week 14
By David Schwab
VegasInsider.com

Heading into Week 14 of the 2015 CFL regular season, Calgary remains on top in the West Division following last Friday’s 35-23 victory over British Columbia which was just shy of covering against the spread as a 12½-point home favorite.

Saturday’s action kicked things off with Hamilton dropping a 25-18 decision to Edmonton as a 5½-point home favorite. Later in the day the upset trends for the underdogs continued with Ottawa coming away with a 30-27 victory against Saskatchewan as a three-point underdog on the road. The weekend’s action closed with Montreal avoiding the sweep for the underdogs with a key 35-14 victory against Winnipeg as a nine-point favorite at home on Sunday.

Friday, Sept. 25

Calgary Stampeders (9-3 SU, 3-9 ATS) vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (4-8 SU, 4-7-1 ATS)

Point-spread: Calgary -8½
Total: 48

Game Overview

Calgary continues to win the majority of its games, but bettors backing the Stampeders have paid the price with a 2-3 record against the spread in its last five games after failing to cover in the first six games of the season. They head into this game with a 1-4 record ATS in five previous road games this year. Eric Rodgers continues to lead the CFL in receiving yards with 1,044 on 64 receptions.

The Blue Bombers’ loss to Montreal has them a game and a half out of the final CFL playoff spot behind the Alouettes as a possible crossover team from the East. Matt Nichols completed just 23-of-48 attempts in that loss for 189 yards for no touchdowns and one interception. Winnipeg also gave-up a punt return for a touchdown and a 93-yard kickoff return to start the second half that led to Montreal’s 29-3 lead in the third quarter.

Betting Trends

Calgary has won its last five road games against Winnipeg straight-up and the total has gone OVER in six of its last eight games on the road against the Blue Bombers. This will be the third meeting this season with the Stampeders holding the 2-0 SU edge (1-1 against the spread).

Saturday, Sept. 26

British Columbia Lions (4-7 SU, 5-6 ATS) vs. Edmonton Eskimos (8-4 SU, 8-4 ATS)

Point-spread: Edmonton -11
Total: 47

Game Overview

BC is also on the outside looking in as far as the playoffs following last week’s loss. Despite covering in that loss, it is still just 2-3 ATS in its last five games with just one SU win during the same stretch. Rookie quarterback Jonathon Jennings threw for 252 yards in that game in relief of an injured John Beck, but he completed just 55.5 percent of his 27 attempts with three of those passes getting picked-off.

The Eskimos’ huge win over Hamilton kept them right in the thick of the West Division title race at just one game in back of Calgary. They come into this matchup with a 5-1 record ATS at home this season and they are 5-2 ATS when closing as favorites. Mike Reilly completed just 7-of-22 attempts for 49 yards in that win, but he led the way for a ground game that posted 175 yards rushing on the day.

Betting Trends

The Lions have won 10 of the last 13 meetings SU, but they are 2-4 ATS in their last six road games against the Eskimos. The total has stayed UNDER in the last five meetings in Edmonton. BC won the first meeting this season 26-23 on Aug. 6 as a 2 ½-point home underdog.

Toronto Argonauts (6-5 SU, 5-6 ATS) vs. Ottawa RedBlacks (7-4 SU, 8-3 ATS)

Point-spread: Ottawa -2½
Total: 52

Game Overview

Toronto is coming off a bye week following a 35-27 loss to Hamilton in Week 12 as a four-point home underdog. It is 1-3 SU in its last four games with a costly 0-4 record ATS. Trevor Harris has put up some impressive stats for the Argonauts this season playing quarterback from a back-up role. He has thrown for 2,921 yards while completing 72.3 percent of his attempts. He has also tossed 22 touchdowns against nine interceptions.

The RedBlacks remain in solid shape for a spot in this year’s playoffs at 7-4 SU and they have now covered in their last four games. Veteran quarterback Henry Burris lit-up Saskatchewan’s secondary this past weekend with 477 yards passing and two touchdown throws, while completing 35-of-45 attempts. Chris Williams was his top target with eight catches for 137 yards and a score.

Betting Trends

Toronto won the first meeting this season 30-24 at home as a nine-point favorite. The total went OVER the closing 50-point line. Last season the series was evenly split 1-1 both SU and ATS. The total stayed UNDER in both contests.

Sunday, Sept. 27

Montreal Alouettes (5-6 SU, 6-4-1 ATS) vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-11 SU, 3-9 ATS)
Point-spread: Montreal -1
Total: 50

Game Overview

Montreal got a boost this past Sunday from the return of quarterback Jonathan Crompton after an extended stay on the injury list dating back to Week 1 of the regular season. His numbers were nothing to brag about with 181 yards passing while completing just 14 of his 27 attempts. Despite getting picked-off two times he also found the end zone with two other throws.

The Roughriders dismal season continues with just one SU win and a 1-3 record ATS in their last four games. The total has gone OVER in four of their last six outings behind a defense that is allowing a CFL-high 30.4 points a game. Offensively, Saskatchewan has not been all that bad with an average of 24.1 points a game.

Betting Trends

Montreal has won 11 of the last 15 meetings SU and it has covered in five of its last six road games against the Roughriders. The total has gone OVER in nine of its last 12 games on the road against Saskatchewan. This will be the first of two meetings this year.
