Chiefs help books win

The Kansas City Chiefs are 9/1 at the Westgate SuperBook to win the Super Bowl and right now they are definitely looking Super. Their 42-34 win at Houston Sunday night took them to 5-0 straight-up and against-the-spread on the season. They are the best bet in football right now and surprisingly, they aren't the most bet team in the NFL. Bettors don't seem to believe in their awesomeness.

But I do and I'll tell you why. These guys don't make mistakes. I love that. I so sick and tired of watching chumps turn the ball over when I have a wager. With the Chiefs, I never have to worry. Last season they led the NFL in turnover margin at +17 and this season they're fourth at +6. They've had only one turnover this season and it came in Week 1 when rookie RB Kareem Hunt fumbled on his first career carry.

Since then, Hunt has gained 775 yards and scored three TDs. The dude is awesome and will probably win rookie of the year if Deshaun Watson doesn't throw for five TDs in every game. Kansas City just has the look of a Super Bowl team right now. When Alex Smith is stretching defenses downfield, the opponent is in trouble. Head coach Andy Reid is doing a masterful job and the Patriots, who are now 5/1 to win it all, don't match-up. We got a preview of how great the Chiefs were in Week 1 when they won 42-27 at New England.

The Chiefs win Sunday night took the favorites to 6-6 ATS on the day with most of the books rooting for the Texans.

"It was a decent day, but we could have used the Texans and Under," said Stratosphere oddsmaker Hugh Citron.

The Over went 6-6 as well but the biggest win across town was the Steelers losing 30-9 at home to the Jaguars. Jacksonville paid +300 with the win.

"Pittsburgh losing was a huge game for us just because it took care of a lot of teasers and money-line parlays," said Citron. "Carolina also helped us in the same situation."

The underdog Panthers won 27-24 at Detroit. They were one of six outright underdog winners on the day and paid +120 on the money-line. Every underdog that covered the spread on Sunday won outright.

"Seattle beating the Rams was good for us," Citron said.

The high-powered Rams offense was slowed by Seattle in a 16-10 Seahawks win. All three afternoon games were won outright by the underdogs.

"Green Bay's win was flat just because it went Over," said Citron of the packers 35-31 win at Dallas.

Man, Aaron Rodgers is some kind of quarterback. The dude does some amazing stuff.

Bettors go back to the drawing board as confused as ever. The only certainty is that Kansas City is awesome.
