College Football Baylor vs. West Virginia Week 8 Picks & Predictions
By Anthony Rome
MORGANTOWN, WV (The Spread) - Baylor barely squeaked by TCU last week but will the Bears repay backers today by covering the spread vs. West Virginia at Noon ET?
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Baylor is a 7.5-point favorite over West Virginia while the over/under total for today's game is sitting at 80 points. As of this writing, 55% of bettors currently favor the Bears minus the points.
LINE MOVEMENT: Baylor opened as 9.5-point favorites but the line for this game has been bet all the way down to 7.5, while the total opened at 78 and has been bumped up to 80 at most online and Vegas sports books.
SEASON RECORDS: The Bears enter play with a perfect 6-0 record but following last week's failed cover in a win over TCU, their ATS record for 2014 is now 4-1-1 (which is obviously still very impressive). As for the Mountaineers, they're 4-2 straight up and 3-3 at the betting window this year, while their over/under record stands at 3-3. The over is also 4-2 in Baylor's six games this year.
NCAA FREE PICK: Take Baylor. According to latest college football trends, the Mountaineers are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games, 0-6 ATS in their last six conference games and 0-7 ATS in their last seven games in October. On the other side, the Bears are 10-3 against the spread in their last 13 games versus a team with a winning record, 5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss and 20-6-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
