Bowling Green Falcons at Akron Zips (-7, 58)
The Bowling Green Falcons will look to retain their hold on top spot in the Mid-American Conference's East Division as they visit InfoCision Stadium on Tuesday night for a date with the rival Akron Zips. The Falcons are coming off their first conference loss of the season last time out, a 26-14 setback to Western Michigan. The Zips should provide a stiff challenge as they return home following disappointing road losses to Ohio and Ball State.
Akron is coming off its most disappointing result of the season, having built a 21-6 lead against the Cardinals before surrendering 29 unanswered points and going scoreless in the second half. The Zips fell victim to five turnovers - including four interceptions thrown by Tommy Woodson, who came into the game with just two picks in his first six games. The Falcons have won two straight road games, scoring an average of 39 points in those victories.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the low-50s and forecasts are calling for a 42 percent chance of rain. Wind will blow across the field at 13 mph.
WHAT CAPPERS SAY: "The MAC takes center stage on Tuesdays and Wednesdays the next three weeks, beginning tonight. An interesting fact from my database finds MAC visitors 17-8 ATS in these Tuesday-Wednesday affairs when they are off a SU and ATS loss in their previous game (read: Bowling Green and Buffalo). Akron is 1-6 ATS against FBS foes this season and has lost the stats in each of its last three games, making them a risky proposition against the Falcons." Covers Expert Marc Lawrence.
WHAT BOOKS SAY: "A Mac Conference battle tonight with 5-3 Bowling Green paying a visit to 4-4 Akron with first place in the East division on the line. Bowling Green is getting 75 percent of the action as a 6.5-point road dog and 97 percent of the action on the moneyline with the 58.5-point total seeing split action with a slight edge to the over with 53 percent of the action." Michael Stewart, CarbonSports.ag.
ABOUT BOWLING GREEN (5-3 SU, 3-5 ATS, 4-4 O/U): Sophomore quarterback James Knapke had a rough go of it in the loss to Western Michigan, completing 20 of 33 passes for 139 yards while failing to throw a touchdown pass for just the second time all season. Junior running back Travis Greene leads the Bowling Green ground assault, but has been held under 75 yards in each of his last three outings after reaching triple digits in three of the previous four. Roger Lewis paces the receiving corps with 53 catches for 706 yards and three scores.
ABOUT AKRON (4-4 SU, 2-6 ATS, 2-6 O/U): Pohl has missed the last two games for the Zips, and his absence has been felt dramatically; the junior pivot has 1,289 passing yards and seven touchdowns while throwing just three interceptions on the season. Woodson has started both games in Pohl's absence, completing just over 50 percent of his passes while throwing three TD passes and getting picked off six times. Conor Hundley (69 carries, 407 yards, three TDs) and Jawon Chisholm (54 carries, 253 yards, three TDs) lead a two-pronged rush attack.
TRENDS:
* Bowling Green is 19-7 ATS in its last 26 November games.
* Akron is 1-6 ATS in its last seven home games against teams with winning road records.
* Under is 7-0 in Falcons' last seven games following a double-digit loss at home.
* Favorite is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings.
Toledo Rockets at Kent State Golden Flashes (+13.5, 55)
The Toledo Rockets are flying high as they look to remain unbeaten in Mid-American Conference play Tuesday evening against the struggling Kent State Golden Flashes. The Rockets overcame a crushing road loss to Iowa State in style, surviving some nervous moments before ultimately prevailing 42-35 over visiting Massachusetts. The Golden Flashes aren't likely to put up much resistance, having scored more than 17 points just once all season.
The secret to Toledo's success so far in 2014: a potent rushing game that ranks among the top 20 in the nation in yards per game (248.4). That ground assault was on full display in the win over the Minutemen, as the Rockets racked up 295 rushing yards - 198 provided by Kareem Hunt - to overcome a 438-yard passing effort from Massachusetts quarterback Blake Frohnapfel. Kent State managed just 285 total yards in last week's 10-3 loss to Miami (Ohio).
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the low-50s with a 41 percent chance of rain. Wind will blow across the field at 12 mph.
WHAT CAPPERS SAY: "Toledo leads the MAC West race at 4-0 while Kent resides in the cellar of the MAC East. Question is will the Rockets get caught looking ahead to a much bigger game next week against Northern Illinois?" Covers Expert Marc Lawrence.
WHAT BOOKS SAY: "The top team in the Mac West division visits the bottom team in the Mac, Kent State. It is all Toledo action in this game with 93 percent on Toledo covering the 14-point line, 95 percent on the moneyline and the over 55 point total is getting 99 percent of the action." Michael Stewart, CarbonSports.ag.
ABOUT TOLEDO (5-3 SU, 2-6 ATS, 6-2 O/U): The Rockets' aerial attack is guided by sophomore Logan Woodside, who tied a season high with three touchdown passes while amassing 225 yards against the Minutemen. Woodside has done well to keep his composure away from Toledo, throwing for five TDs against just one interception in three road games in 2014. Hunt (85 carries, 725 yards, eight touchdowns) has a partner in crime in the backfield, joining with Terry Swanson (81 carries, 586 yards, six TDs) to form a lethal 1-2 punch.
ABOUT KENT STATE (1-7 SU, 2-6 ATS, 3-4-1 O/U): Second-year quarterback Colin Reardon was at his best in the Golden Flashes' lone victory of the season Oct. 18 over Army, throwing for 360 yards with three touchdowns. He came back to Earth the following week - completing just 21 of 39 passes for 201 yards and an interception - and could be in for a long night against a Kent State defense allowing just 209 passing yards per game. The Kent State running game has been virtually nonexistent, averaging just 2.7 yards on 221 carries.
TRENDS:
* Toledo is 1-8 ATS in its last eight games following a bye week.
* Kent State is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games following an SU loss.
* Over is 7-2 in Rockets' last nine games.
* Under is 3-0-1 in Golden Flashes' last four conference games.

The Mid-American Conference takes center stage Tuesday evening as Akron hosts Bowling Green and Toledo visits Kent State. According to weather reports, there is a chance of rain and some wind in store for both games.
At Akron, forecasts are calling for a 42 percent chance of rain with wind blowing across the field at around 12 mph. Temperatures will start in the low-50s and dip to the high-40s as the game progresses.
At Kent State's Dix Stadium, similar conditions are in the forecast. Temperatures will be in the low-50s before dropping to the high-40s and there is a 40 percent chance of rain which increases to 79 percent later in the game.
Toledo struggling to cover on the road
The Toledo Rockets have left bettors frustrated in their road games as they are 0-4 against the spread in their previous four road games.
That stretch includes all three road games this season (at Cincinnati, at Western Michigan and at Iowa State) and their last road game last year (at Akron).
Rockets backers will hope they put one in the win column Tuesday night as they visit the Kent State Golden Flashes as 14-point road faves.
BGU backers hope ATS success versus Akron continues
The Bowling Green Falcons are 6-0 against the spread versus the Akron Zips and their backers will hope that success continues Tuesday evening as the MAC teams meet.
The Falcons are currently 6.5-point road dogs at most outlets.
Bowling Green has only been an underdog once during those six games, covering as 8-point road dogs in 2006.

The MAC will have each of its division leaders in action on Tuesday night when Bowling Green visits Akron (8 p.m. ET, ESPN 2) and Toledo heads to Kent State (8 p.m. ET, ESPN U).
Bowling Green Falcons at Akron Zips (-6.5, 58)
With a 3-1 record in league play, Bowling Green (5-3 SU, 3-5 ATS) leads the Eastern Division of the Mid-American Conference, and the Falcons will put that standing on the line when they face Akron (2-2 in conference, 4-4 SU, 2-6 ATS). The Falcons have won and covered (-14, -6.5) in each of their last two matchups with the Zips, and a win in this spot puts them in strong position to compete for another MAC title.
Early money came in on Akron, which opened as a 5-point favorite at The Wynn and was bet up to -6.5.
The Zips have lost two in a row SU and four straight ATS. Bowling Green has covered just one spread in its last five games.
The Falcons rank No. 26 in the nation in passing, totaling 289.4 yards per game through the air. Akron, meanwhile, boasts the nation's No. 22 defense, allowing 20.3 points per contest.
Both teams have been trending UNDER. The last three Bowling Green games have stayed UNDER the total (albeit with posted totals of 67, 66 and 76), while Akron had a four-game UNDER streak snapped last week in a 35-21 loss at Ball State. The Zips are 6-2 to the UNDER this season.
Injuries
Akron QB Kyle Pohl (concussion) probable
Bowling Green QB James Knapke (ribs) probable
Bowling Green WR Ronnie Moore (foot) questionable
Bowling Green DL Zach Colvin (illness) questionable
Weather: The forecast is calling for a 45 percent chance of rain with temperatures in the low- to mid-50s. Check an updated forecast at wunderground.com.
The Linemakers lean: Rain is expected throughout tonight's game, which should keep the tempo to Akron’s liking -- slow. Akron has allowed only 20 points per game this season, which has kept six of their eight games UNDER the total. And despite Bowling Green’s awful defense and high-powered offense, they have stayed UNDER in their last three. The only play in this game is the UNDER 58.
Toledo Rockets (-13.5, 55) at Kent State Golden Flashes
The task at hand for Toledo should be fairly easy on Tuesday. The Rockets are undefeated (4-0) in league play and lead the MAC's Western Division, a post that doesn't appear to be in jeopardy against a Kent State team that has one win (1-7) on the season.
Covering the spread is a different matter. Despite winning three of four, however, the Rockets are 1-3 ATS over that span and 2-6 against the number overall. This matchup will be the first time these teams have faced one another since 2010.
Keep an eye on sophomore running back Kareem Hunt, who has rushed for 725 yards on 85 carries (8.5 YPC) and eight TDs on the season.
Injuries
Toledo RB Kareem Hunt (foot) probable
Toledo TE Alex Zmolik (concussion) probable
Kent State LB Darius Redmond (concussion) questionable
Weather: The forecast is calling for a 45 percent chance of rain with temperatures in the low- to mid-50s. Check an updated forecast at wunderground.com.
The Linemakers lean: Toledo puts up lots of points (35 per game), but gives up plenty on defense (33.6 ppg). Kent State is also sieve-like on D, to the tune of 29.4 ppg. This is the lowest total in a Toledo game all season, and the Rockets are 6-2 to the OVER this season. We're going OVER 55 here.
