Game of the Day: Louisiana-Lafayette at Texas State
By Covers.com

Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at Texas State Bobcats (-2.5, 63)

With a three-game losing streak now in the rearview mirror, the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns have a new goal: avoid getting blown out on the road. The Ragin' Cajuns look to atone for a pair of one-sided losses away from home as they face Texas State at Bobcat Stadium on Tuesday night. The Bobcats had a precarious opening to their Sun Belt Conference schedule last time out, fending off winless Idaho behind 284 rushing yards and three touchdowns from Terrence Franks.

Louisiana-Lafayette is on a high after defeating Georgia State 34-31 on a late touchdown pass from Terrance Broadway to Jamal Robinson. It was the perfect capper to a sensational performance from Robinson, who hauled in eight passes for 119 yards and two scores after missing the previous two games with a torn meniscus in his knee. Texas State will have revenge on its minds after getting throttled 48-24 in last season's encounter at Cajun Field.

LINE HISTORY: The line has fallen a half-point since opening at Texas State -3. The over/under has held steady at 63.

INJURY REPORT: Louisiana-Lafayette: S Trevance Patt (ankle), RB Elijah McGuire (toe), LB Trae Johnson (knee) and LB Chris Hill (eligibility) are questionable. Texas State: LB Michael Orakpo (knee) is out.

WEATHER REPORT: Temperatures at Bobcat Stadium are expected to be in the high-70s with sunny skies and wind blowing to the northwest at 15 mph.

ABOUT LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE (2-3, 1-4 ATS, 3-2 O/U): Broadway had what was easily his most efficient game of the season against Georgia State, completing 20-of-26 passes for 216 yards and a pair of scores. The 22-year-old senior has taken a significant step back from each of the previous two seasons; he already has seven interceptions and his 5.68 yards-per-pass-attempt is well below his marks of 9.09 and 9.02 the past two years. Elijah McGuire (331 yards, three touchdowns) and Alonzo Harris (249 yards, four TDs) pace a two-headed rush attack.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE (3-2, 3-2 ATS, 3-1-1 O/U): The Bobcats would love nothing more than a nice, easy victory; they needed three overtimes to subdue Tulsa two weeks ago before clinging to victory last week over the woeful Vandals. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Jones was dreadful against Idaho, but remains on pace for a sensational season with 1,149 passing yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also recorded a rushing touchdown in four straight games, taking some of the heat off the running back tandem of Franks (408 yards, six TDs) and Robert Lowe (402 yards, two TDs).

TRENDS:

* Louisiana-Lafayette is 1-7 ATS in its last eight games following an ATS loss.
* Texas State is 2-5 ATS in its last seven home games.
* Under is 5-1 in the Ragin' Cajuns' last six road games.
* Over is 4-1-1 in the Bobcats' last six gams.

COVERS CONSENSUS: 61 percent of the vote is on Texas State at -2.5.
