12 Things Bettors Must Know For Bowling Green-Ohio
By Covers.com

Bowling Green Falcons at Ohio Bobcats (-3, 49)

Weather: 28 degrees with a 10 percent chance of rain and 6 mph winds.

- The line: Opened at Ohio -3.5 at most spots and -4 at the Las Vegas Hotel. Bowling Green was bet down to a 3-point fave - not much of a surprise considering BG has been a bit of a darling for sharps this year.

- The winner of this game will control its own destiny in the MAC East. They both have one loss in MAC play and both will play division leader Kent State in their remaining two games.

- Ohio is playing its third game in 12 days. Bowling Green is coming off a bye.

- Bowling Green is the most prolific under team in the nation for bettors. The Falcons played under in all eight games in which they saw a posted total this season.

- Bowling Green has covered the spread in five straight games. None of those opponents scored more than 12 points.

- This is Senior Day and a "Blackout Game" for Ohio, where students are asked to wear black to the game. It's the second straight nationally televised weekday game for Ohio. They beat EMU last week to halt a four-game ATS losing streak.

- The Falcons rank 16th or better in the nation in six key defensive categories, including total defense (eighth), scoring defense (ninth) and sacks (16th).

- Ohio head coach Frank Solich felt defenses were catching on to his team's systems and said he was going to mix up his playbook last week following the Bobcats' first loss of the season to Miami Ohio on Oct. 27. He did just that. Ryan Boykins saw a lot more opportunities at tailback than usual and had his best game of the season with 128 yards and a touchdown. It opened up the passing game - along with some designed QB runs - and receiver Donte Foster had his best game of the season with 164 yards and two TDs.

- Bobcats junior QB Tyler Tettleton is just 83 yards shy from becoming Ohio's career passing yards leader. He's been efficient in a typical Solich offense that likes to run the option. He has 15 TDs passing and three more rushing against just two INTs. He also has one receiving TD.

- Senior defensive tackle Chris Jones is a beast on the defensive line for Bowling Green. He has 16 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks.

- Neither team likes to give up the football. Ohio ranks second in the nation with just five turnovers lost and Bowling Green ranks 18th with 11.

- Bowling Green's offense has stalled the last two weeks - 282 yards against terrible Massachusetts and 356 yards against mediocre Eastern Michigan. That said head coach Dave Clawson was happy with the EMU game: “I love that we held the ball for almost 35 minutes [against Eastern Michigan],” he told the Toledo Blade. “I love that, with nine minutes, 10 seconds left in that game, our offense kept the ball for the rest of the game."
