College Football Week 3: Georgia vs. South Carolina Picks & Predictions
By Jay Dotson

COLUMBIA, SC (The Spread) - No. 6 Georgia visits No. 24 South Carolina on Saturday at 3:30PM ET on CBS. The Dogs are a 6.5-point favorite but will they cover?

The Bulldogs enter this game 1-0 SU on the season while South Carolina is 1-1 SU. Georgia is coming off a blowout win and easy cover over Clemson while South Carolina is coming off a SU win over East Carolina but failed to cover the number.

South Carolina holds the edge over the last seven meetings between these two teams going 4-3 SU and 5-1-1 ATS. The Gamecocks have struggled versus the spread in their last five games versus SEC opponents as they are on a 1-4 ATS slide in SEC play. South Carolina has proven to be tough on their home field, as they are on a 22-1 SU run with the lone loss coming in their season opener versus Texas A&M.

I look for South Carolina to cover this number, if not come away with the straight up win. Georgia's win over Clemson was definitely impressive but winning against the SEC is a different story. South Carolina is 0-2 ATS so far on the season and they are due for a cover in this spot. Georgia has proven to be inconsistent when it comes to covering the spread as they are just 3-7-2 ATS in their last 12 games. The Bulldogs are being asked a lot here to cover 6.5 points on the road versus a team that has proven to be a very strong home team.

There's also just too much money pouring in on Georgia which is often times a recipe for disaster. The line opened with Georgia as a four point favorite but hasn't budged since being adjusted to 6.5. Take South Carolina plus the points on Saturday.
