Cowboys sign OL Davis, reportedly ink QB Johnson

Irving, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Cowboys officially signed offensive lineman Leonard Davis on Monday, and reportedly came to terms with veteran quarterback Brad Johnson.

Johnson, who is expected to back up and mentor starting quarterback Tony Romo, spent a good part of Monday at Cowboys' headquarters for an official visit.

The 15-year veteran started 14 games for the Minnesota Vikings last season, completing 61.5 percent of his passes for 2750 yards with nine touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

For his career, Johnson has thrown for 28,548 yards with 164 touchdown passes and 117 interceptions.

The 6-foot-6, 366-pound Davis inked a seven-year, $49.6 million deal, including $18.75 million in guaranteed money, according to the Cowboys' website.

A six-year veteran, Davis was originally the second pick overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2001 NFL Draft. He started in all 91 games played for the Cardinals but never lived up to his immense potential.

Davis is expected to play either right tackle or right guard for the Cowboys.

Also on Monday, the club re-signed Martin Gramatica to a two-year contract. Terms were not disclosed.

Gramatica made 6-of-8 attempts during his brief stint with Dallas last season, including a 46-yard kick to beat the New York Giants.
