Duke at Kansas Betting Preview
It will be hard for No. 22 Kansas to look better than it has already this season, but the Jayhawks can get another much-needed win on Saturday when it hosts Duke at Noon ET from Memorial Stadium.
The Jayhawks are 2-0 and have outscored their opponents 83-10 on the season. Last week, Kansas defeated UTEP 34-7 on the road. Kansas led 34-0 before allowing a late UTEP score. Todd Reesing continued to build his Heisman campaign, as he threw for 260 yards and a touchdown on 25-of-41 passing. Jake Sharp had a big game running the ball in the win as he rushed for 104 yards on 16 carries with two scores while also catching a touchdown pass. As a team, the Jayhawks rushed for 255 yards while holding UTEP to just four yards on the ground. Kansas’ defense limited UTEP to 255 yards and forced two turnovers with six quarterback sacks. Kansas had just 13.5 sacks all last season.
Duke is coming off a 35-19 win over Army on the road last weekend for its second-straight 1-1 start to a season under coach David Cutcliffe. Duke won just four games from 2004-2007, but has already won five in 14 games under Cutfcliffe, who is trying to turn the program around. Last week, the Blue Devils scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to get the win. Backup quarterback Sean Renfree threw for 106 yards and two touchdowns on 7-of-8 passing to lead Duke to the win. Cutcliffe decided to play Renfree for a change of pace, and it worked. Duke had just 236 yards of offense, but forced four turnovers on defense to keep the Knights from scoring.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BetOnline have made Kansas 22.5-point home favorites over Duke on Saturday afternoon. The over/under total for this game has been established at 50.
