First NFL Game On The Board!

There are approximately 8-10 games that are played in the morning...afternoon for you east coast
players....and naturally, there's always a "first game" on the board. This is according to the Nevada Rotation
which is what everyone looks at whether they are in a sports book, looking at a parlay or teaser card, or betting online....unless you are looking at the Bodog schedule which goes by what time the game starts.

So why is one game put on top for everyone to look at first, as opposed to the other 7-9 games? I've always wondered about that, but have never gotten a satisfactory answer from anyone! But always looking for an angle, I decided to study what happens to that game ATS. Well it seems, for whatever reason, the team that the public is betting on, just doesn't do to well ATS. Matter of fact, they are losing at a rate of 30-35% ATS. That means if you take the side opposite the public, you are going to win at a rate of 65-70% of the time. Pretty nice %don't you think?

If you think about it, when you go into a sports book, or go online and pick up a teaser or parlay card, the first game on the board seems to jump out at you...how can't it...it's the first game! Just look at last week! Bengals started out as a dog, and wound up being a 2 point fave. Look what happened! Ravens not only won outright, but covered the parlays and teaser cards. Took many a player out of action on their remaining picks.

This week , the hapless Raiders...based on the MNF game...are getting "only" 3.5 points against a Chiefs team that took the "almost" world champion Pats, down to the final seconds before losing. Chiefs have got to be the "right" side...aren't they? But look at last year! The underdog won both games outright! As bad as the Raiders have been, they are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 division road games. Looks like a different picture now doesn't it!

I'm sure this game is going to go higher than 3.5, and will probably go to 4 or higher by game day. So before you think that the Chiefs are the be all to end all, just remember that the oddsmaker doesn't make these lines "easy" to make money for YOU! He's getting paid by the sports books, and NOT by YOU! He's in business to make money for them and NOT YOU! You don't pay him anything do you? Just keep this in mind when making your selections on Sunday!
