NBA | Hornets vs Spurs
Play on: Hornets +8½ -104 at pinnacle
The set-up: The Spurs posted an epic triple OT win over the Thunder at home last Thursday, but they’d stumble in the rematch in OKC on Saturday. I think San Antonio comes in a bit complacent here facing its lowly non-conference opponent. But Charlotte comes in desperate as it looks to snap a three-game slide. The Hornets average 112.1 PPG and they allow 112.3. The Spurs average 112.3 PPG and they allow 109.5.
The pick: The Spurs though have given up an average of 134.5 points over their last two games. Additionally note that Charlotte is already 6-2 ATS this year after losing three of its last four games and 3-1 ATS after two or more consecutive road losses, while SA is already just 1-3 ATS this season as a home favorite in the 6.5 to 12 points range. I’m grabbing the points.

NCAA-B | Baylor vs Oklahoma State
Play on: Oklahoma State -3 -107 at pinnacle
My 1* Free play is on Oklahoma State.
Baylor is 9-6 and Oklahoma State is 8-8.
The Cowboys play with “revenge” here as they’ve lost six-straight in this series and I believe that, combined with a few other factors, will lead the home side to a convincing SU and ATS victory/cover.
Baylor comes in off a 73-68 loss to Kansas last weekend. Jared Butler was a bright spot in the setback with 14 points. Note that the Bears lost the services of forward Tristan Clark to a season ending knee injury and this was their first contest without him in the line-up:
“In conference-only stats, we had the No. 1 offense in the Big 12 and lowest turnover percentage,” Baylor coach Scott Drew assessed recently. “It took us a couple of weeks to get to that when we had everybody healthy, and now we’ve got to do the same thing. But that’s the great thing about a team is it gives other people opportunities to step up. I know everybody on the team was down and upset for Tristan, but we have good leadership and character. These guys want to win and they want to compete, and now they have an opportunity to do that in the Big 12.”
After opening conference play with two straight losses to Iowa State and Oklahoma, the Cowboys have bounced back with consecutive wins over Texas and WVU this past weekend (85-77). Isaac Likekele had 23 points and nine boards in the most recent victory.
I’ll point out as well that Oklahoma State is 7-3 ATS in its last ten vs. the Big 12 conference, while Baylor is just 2-5 ATS in its last seven on the road.
The Cowboys are holding opponents to 30.9 percent shooting from 3-point range and 40.4 percent overall and I have a hard time seeing the Bears competing without Clark in the line-up.
Consider the home side in this one.

NBA | Blazers vs Kings
Play on: Kings -2 -109 at GTBets
Sacramento -2
Portland plays at Sacramento after a game Sunday night in the thin air of Denver. They have struggled after playing in the Mile High City in the past. Take the home team to win by 5 to 7 points.

Wisconsin has little bit of a tailspin going on as of this writing, as they were nipped in overtime on Friday night at home by the Purdue Boilermakers. That loss dropped Greg Gard's team to 1-3 straight up their last 4 games.
Maryland was a 3-point winner in their last game, a gritty home win - but non-cover - over Indiana on Friday, as the Hoosiers did nail a three-pointer with one second remaining to sneak inside of the number.
The Terps have the size with Bruno Fernando to neutralize the Badgers big-gun Ethan Happ - who by the way is shooting less than 50% from the free throw line for the season!
Mark Turgeon's bubbling Terrapins have won their last 5 games, as they are now 14-3 on the season. The numbers look favorable for the host tonight, as the Terps average a full 7 points more per game than the Badgers, and they are also averaging a full 5 rebounds more per game. The Turtle also is shooting their freebies at close to 71%, while Bucky Badger is canning just under 64% from the charity stripe this season!
Maryland did rally from 14 points down in their Friday win at home over Indiana, and they have been making a habit out of coming from behind during their recent surge. I am sure Coach Turgeon would rather see his team start fast in this one, as they have gone just 1-3 straight up the past 4 series meetings, and have failed against the spread in all 4 of those games.
The chemistry is rich right now for the young Terps who are looking to break into the national rankings this week.
With the Badgers having a confidence crisis right now, I suggest laying the small home chalk with Maryland.
Fear the Turtle on Monday in College Park!
4* MARYLAND

Monday night comp play on the Celtics and the Nets to land Over the total.
These teams just met on January 7th in Beantown in a game the Celtics won, 116-95.
That was the first meeting of the season between the teams and it did hold Under the total.
I see an Over being posted tonight in this second meeting in the past 7 days, as Boston has played 12 of their last 16 games this year in the Over column, and for the season they are 26-16 Over the posted price. The Celtics do come into Barclays Center 12th in the league in scoring with a 111.9 points per game average, and they are facing a Nets team that allows 111.5 points game. Seems like a good equation for some points to be scored tonight if you ask me, even with Kyrie Irving listed as questionable.
The Nets have played 5 of their last 7 games Over the total, and they do come into this home date with a 110.7 points per game average of their own for Boston to contend with.
6 of Boston's last 7 road games have landed Over the total, and with both teams enjoying their Sunday idle, we should have a pair of teams hitting the floor tonight with fresh legs.
I like an Over in the second meeting of the season between the teams this Monday night in Brooklyn.
Celtics-Nets Over.
1* BOSTON-BROOKLYN OVER

After winning and covering a double-overtime thriller on Thursday night at home over Oklahoma City, San Antonio could not complete the back end of the home-and-home sweep, as they went to OKC and fell by 10 points to the Thunder on Saturday night.
Now back at home here on Monday against a Charlotte team that is running on fumes on their last night of a 6 game road swing that started on the 6th, look for the Spurs to pull away over the tired Hornets. Charlotte has dropped 3 straight and 4 of 5 overall on this demanding stretch and tonight they are playing that dreaded "3rd game in 4 nights", and they happen to be playing a San Antonio team that has been lights out on their home floor at 18-5 straight up, and 17-6 against the spread on their home floor.
The Spurs have covered 5 straight against Eastern Conference opponents, while the Hornets have managed just 1 cover over their last 8 on the road.
Series numbers show the Spurs a dominant 9-1 straight up the past 10 times these teams have met, including wins in each of the past 4 showdowns. This is the first meeting between the clubs this year, and San Antonio has covered 6 of the past 7 meetings at home over Charlotte, and are 9-4 against the spread overall the past 13 showdowns.
The Spurs have been able to hold 7 of their last 11 opponents to 98 points or less their last 11 home dates, and with the Hornets more than ready to get on that plane and head back to their home beds after this last of 6 on the road, look for a low offensive output from the tired visitors, as San Antone rebounds from Saturday's setback - just their 2nd over their past 8 games - with a double-digit home win and cover on Monday.
4* SAN ANTONIO

Jack’s Free Pick Monday: Boston Celtics -3
The Boston Celtics will be highly motivated for a victory tonight off two consecutive road losses to the Heat and Magic. They had gone 15-5 SU & 15-5 ATS in their previous 20 games overall. And now they are getting no respect from oddsmakers as only 3-point favorites over the Nets.
This line has been adjusted too much for the Kyrie Irving injury. The Celtics proved last year they didn’t need Irving to win, and they still don’t need him. Of course, in the playoffs they will be better with him than without him, but in the regular season it really hasn’t mattered.
The Nets have some injury issues of their own. Caris LeVert, Allen Crabbe and Jared Dudley are all out, while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is questionable. And the Nets certainly haven’t been able to figure out the Celtics and won’t stand much of a chance tonight against this motivated Boston team.
The Celtics are a perfect 10-0 SU in their last 10 meetings with the Nets. And with a 3-point spread, they basically just have to win to cover tonight. Boston is 12-4 ATS in its last 16 games playing on one days’ rest. The Celtics are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games vs. a team with a losing record. The Nets are 0-4 ATS in their last four games vs. a team with a winning record. Bet the Celtics Monday.

NBA | Grizzlies vs Rockets
Play on: Grizzlies +6½ -115 at Bovada
The Houston Rockets looked tired last night in a loss to Orlando and now even more tired host the struggling Memphis Grizzlies on Monday at Toyota Center on the second night of a back-to-back. These kinds of scheduling situations can be advantageous in the right situations based on line value and that's what Im betting we have here this Monday night by backing the Grizzlies plus the points.
NBA Underdogs (MEMPHIS) - cold team - failing to cover the spread in 12 or more of the last 15, with a winning percentage of between 45-55% on the season are 40-25 ATS L/23 seasons for a 69% conversion rate for bettors on the blind.
Take the points with Memphis to cover

NBA | Hornets vs Spurs
Play on: Spurs -8½ -109 at GTBets
10* FREE NBA PICK (Spurs -8.5)
I'll take my chances here with San Antonio covering the 8.5-point spread against the Hornets. I just feel given how well the Spurs are playing of late, especially at home, and this being such a tough scheduling spot for Charlotte, there's a high chance San Antonio wins here by double-digits.
Spurs are 14-5 in their last 19 games and haven't lost at home in a month. They 18-5 SU and 17-6 ATS at home on the season. For the Hornets, this is the final stop in a 6-game road trip that started back on the 5th. Charlotte is 1-4 so far with the only win coming against the Suns. While they only lost by 7 to the Kings last time out, they lost by 31 at Portland, 19 at Clippers and 13 at Denver. Give me the Spurs -8.5!

NBA | Pistons vs Jazz
Play on: Jazz -8 -108 at pinnacle
The Jazz have won five of their last six with the lone loss coming to the Bucks. Utah is back playing tough defense giving up 95.6 points in its last three games. The Jazz are giving up the third-fewest points in the league. Donovan Mitchell is having a huge January. The Jazz are a tough to play because of their physical defense especially in Utah where it is high altitude. This is made worse for the Pistons. They carry a high fatigue rating in action for the fourth time in six days - all on the road. Detroit had lost to the struggling Lakers by 13 points and to the Kings by 10 points before upsetting the Clippers on Saturday. That was a big motivation game for the Pistons because it marked Blake Griffin facing his old team. Griffin, Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson all logged more than 40 minutes in that contest. The Pistons have sunk back to being a lottery type team following a good start losing 16 of the past 21 times. Detroit ranks 24th in scoring. The Pistons have failed to break the 100-point barrier in six of their last 16 games. They heavily rely on Griffin and Drummond. But the Jazz have the inside defensive stoppers in Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors to slow down those two.
