NCAA-F | Arizona vs Utah
Play on: OVER 50½ -104
In five the last six confrontations between these Pac-12 South rivals, the total have been 60 or higher. This year it opened at 53 and has crumbled to 50.5. The average total score in that span has been 58.1 total points. I know Khalil Tate has a bum ankle, but why isn't Kevin Sumlin get him into open space where he can just run straight ahead like last year? Let's back history and the fact Arizona is 22-9 OVER after two consecutive games with a turnover margin of +1 or better and Utah is 18-6 OVER at home off a conference win by 10 points or more.

Friday night I will look for the Arizona-Utah Pac 12 battle from Salt Lake City to hold just Under the total.
The Wildcats come into this one having played each of their last 3 games Under the total, and the Under is also 5-1 on the year for Kevin Sumlin's team.
The Utes did land Over last weekend in their win at Stanford, but they last time they played at home saw a 21-7 final to Washington in a game that held Under the total.
Utah has played 5 of their last 6 games Under the total in games following a straight up victory, and last year's series meeting also held Under the total between these Pacific 12 rivals.
Low we go in Salt Lake City tonight.
3* ARIZONA-UTAH UNDER

My free winner for Friday night is on the Arizona Wildcats plus the points against the Utah Utes, as I think this is far too many points to give in this Pac 12 battle.
Let me just get this out of the way, that I know Utah (3-2, 1-2 Pac-12) leads the Pac-12 in six defensive categories and has been absolutely stingy about allowing teams to rush the football effectively. I also know the Utes rank in the Top 10 nationally in three categories: red zone defense (0.615 8-of-13), rushing defense (75.4 ypg), and total defense (296.4 ypg). I simply don't care in this situation.
The Wildcats (3-3, 2-1 Pac-12) are a relentless bunch and rank third in the Pac-12 in rushing offense with 201.8 yards per game. Individually, J.J. Taylor ranks third in the conference in rushing yardage with 600 total yards through six contests. He's been a bright spot while Khalil Tate has struggled with a new system and battling injuries.
More than anything, though, is I like Arizona's defensive chances here, in that I think the same team that forced four second-half turnovers in a 24-17 win over California, including two that turned into defensive touchdowns, will be able to create opportunities for the offense in Utah's territory.
The Wildcats could find themselves in favorable position throughout the night, making it easier to drive down a shorter field.
Look for sophomore Collin Schooler to help lead the charge, as he's emerged as one of the best defensive players in the Pac-12. Schooler has registered a Pac-12 best 11 1/2 tackles-for-loss in six games, and has 25 tackles for loss in 19 career games. The sophomore leads Arizona with 66 total tackles through five contests.
I'll count on Arizona's defense to slow things down, and keep the margin in single digits.
4* ARIZONA

Both teams come into this Friday night Mountain West battle off of nice wins, as Air Force stopped a 3-game losing skid with a 35-7 beat-down of fellow service academy rival Navy in Colorado Springs, while San Diego State held Boise State to only 13-points in their 19-13 road upset of the Broncos. For the Aztecs, that was their 4th straight win, and tonight they will bump that win streak to 5 in a row with the win over the Falcons.
The Aztecs win at Boise State is notable because they still are down their leading rusher Juwan Washington in the lineup. He will be out again here tonight as he recovers from injury.
Have to believe that if you can win on the blue carpet, no reason you can't come back home and win in your own backyard against a team that you have dominated.
San Diego State is on a 7-game series win streak, and they have covered in 6 of those 7 wins over Air Force. Remember that prior to their inspired effort over the Middies, the Falcons were skidding with losses to Nevada, Utah State and Florida Atlantic. The bottom line is Troy Calhoun's Force is not close to some of his previous teams that went to bowl games. Air Force may hang around for a while tonight, but State will wear them down and put them away before it is all said and done.
Lay it with SD State.
1* SAN DIEGO STATE

Friday comp play comes in baseball, as I play Under the total in the Dodgers-Brewers contest.
Milwaukee comes into this championship series with 4 games played, and all 4 of them have landed Under the total. The Brewers have allowed a scant 3 runs total, and have pitched back-to-back shutouts in their last pair of playoff games.
Los Angeles is 2-1-2 Under the total in their 5 postseason games played, and one of those Unders came in Clayton Kershaw's 3-0 gem over Atlanta his last time out.
When Kershaw starts against Milwaukee, the Under is 6-1-1.
Gio Gonzalez will counter, and he went 3-0 with an ERA just over 2 in his 5 starts since being acquired by the Milwaukee Brewers. This will be his first start since September 30th, so if anything he should have plenty of gas in his tank.
Both teams have been idle a few days, so look for the bats to take a while to get cranked up.
Game One to land Under the total.
3* L.A. DODGERS-MILWAUKEE UNDER

MLB | Dodgers vs Brewers
Play on: Dodgers -147 at 5Dimes
1* Free Pick on Los Angeles Dodgers -147
The Brewers 11-game winning streak that dates back to the regular-season comes to end Friday night in Game 1 of their NLDS matchup with the Dodgers. It's been a remarkable run for Milwaukee. Sure the pitching was great in their NLDS clash with Colorado, but the Rockies offense was ice-cold. The Brewers pitching is going to find things a lot tougher here against this loaded Dodgers offense.
As good as Gio Gonzalez has been since coming over to Milwaukee, his 5 starts were all against non-playoff teams and the one decent offense he faced (Cardinals), he gave up 3 runs in 4 innings of work.
The key here is the Dodgers don't figure to need many runs to secure the win with ace Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Kershaw allowed just 2 hits and struck out 13 over 8 shutout innings in his only start of LA's NLDS matchup with Atlanta. Kershaw has faced Milwaukee 3 times over the last two seasons and allowed just 4 earned runs on 14 hits with 26 strikeouts in 19 innings.
Dodgers are 22-8 in Kershaw's last 30 road starts vs a team with a winning record, 8-2 in his last 10 vs the NL Central and 26-9 in their last 35 vs a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. Take Los Angeles!

MLB | LAD vs MIL
Play on: UNDER 7½ -118
10* FREE MLB PICK (Under 7.5)
I'll take my chances on the UNDER 7.5 in Game 1 of the NLDS. Dodgers will turn to their ace Clayton Kershaw, who was outstanding in his lone start in the NLDS against the Braves, allowing just 2 hits with 13 strikeouts in 8 innings. Brewers will counter with the red-hot Gio Gonzalez, who has a 2.13 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in his 5 starts since coming to Milwaukee. I expect a solid 5 innings from Gonzalez, but the Brewers won't hesitate to turn to one of the best bullpens in the game. I also think there's an edge here for both starters with the long layoff between their clinching games of the NLDS and Game 1 of this series. Hitters are use to pitching on long rest, where just a few days off can destroy the timing for a hitter. Give me the UNDER 7.5!
