MLB | Rockies vs Brewers
Play on: Brewers -150 at 5Dimes

1* Free Pick on Milwaukee Brewers -150

After blowing a 2-0 lead in the 9th inning, the Brewers avoided a devastating loss with a 3-2 win in 10 innings. Milwaukee has now won 9 straight and I fully expect the win streak to reach 10 after Friday's Game 2 against the Rockies.

The Brewers could have easily broken Game 1 wide-open, as the blew several scoring chances. I still like where this offense is right now, especially Christian Yelich, who stayed hot by going 2 for 3 with a 2-run homer. The same can't be said for the Rockies offense, which managed just 4 hits in Game 1.

Look for Colorado's offense to stay cold here against Jhoylys Chacin, who has allowed just 2 runs on 2 hits in his last 2 starts. As for the Brewers offense, good chance they go off here against Rockies' Tyler Anderson, who has a 5.02 ERA in 15 road starts and a 8.59 ERA and 1.636 WHIP in 3 career starts vs the Brewers (all 3 at Milwaukee).

Colorado is just 2-10 in Anderson's last 12 starts, 1-8 in his last 9 vs a team with a winning record and 0-5 in his last 5 road starts. Brewers are 10-4 in Chacin's last 14 starts vs a team with a winning record and Brewers are 6-1 in their last 7 vs a left-handed starter. Take Milwaukee!

10* FREE MLB PICK (UNDER 7.5)

I'll gladly take my chances here with the UNDER 7.5 in Friday's ALDS matchup between the Yankees and Red Sox. I think a lot of people just look at the talent these two teams have offensively and just assume it's going to be a high-scoring game no matter who is on the mound. With less than ideal scoring conditions (wind blowing in, temp in the mid to low 50s) and two really good pitchers on the mound, I don't see either offense putting up a big number in this one. New York will give the rock to J.A. Happ, who has been better than the Yankees could have ever dreamed of when they landed him in a trade. Happ is 7-0 with a 2.69 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 11 starts since coming to New York. On the other side of this we have Chris Sale going for Boston and he's been a massive thorn in the Yankees' side. Sale has a 1.76 ERA and 0.894 WHIP in 14 career starts against New York and posted a 2.11 ERA in 12 home starts this season. Give me the UNDER 7.5!

Utah State vs BYU Under 55.5

This play just missed out on our premium card. The Utah State Aggies and the BYU Cougars face off on Friday and in this game the under has the value.

When these two play on BYU's home field, the under is the play. The Under is 5-1 in the last six meetings at Bringham Young.

1* Free Sharp Play on Utah State +3 -115

My money is on the Aggies to cash in a winning ticket against in-state rival BYU on Friday. This Utah State team is no joke. Their only loss on the season is a road defeat at Michigan State and they were in it until the end in a 31-38 loss as a 23.5-point dog. BYU has a great road win over the Badgers, but I feel that win has them overvalued here. The Aggies are the more talented team at just about every level of the field, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Utah State is averaging 51.5 ppg and 472 ypg, while the Cougars are only scoring 21.4 ppg and 295 ypg. BYU's defense and playing at home will likely allow them to keep it close early, but look for the Aggies to pull away late for the outright win. Bet Utah State +3!

There are 3 games on the college football card this Friday night and this Middle Tennessee State at Marshall game will be the one that I feel will see the least amount of points scored.

The last 3 series meetings between these Conference USA rivals have all held Under the total, and both of the Blue Raiders previous pair of road games have both landed Under the total with them scoring just a touchdown apiece in those roadies.

The Thundering Herd have held Under in 2 of their last 3 games, as Marshall has not topped 20 points in either of those contests.

Middle Tennessee State has gone 5-1-1 Under the total in their last 7 games versus teams with a winning record, and they will try and move the football against a team that does sport a solid stop unit.

Field position game tonight in this big conference showdown in which the winner will be in prime position as the teams head down the stretch in the East Division of Conference USA action.

3* MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE-MARSHALL UNDER

Anytime I see an American League playoff game that comes with a total of 6 1/2 runs, I run to the ticket window for a play on the Over.

That is the case tonight when the Indians and Astros start their best-of-five series at Minute Maid Park with Corey Kluber and Justin Verlander on the bump. Sure, both have won Cy Young Awards, but those awards cannot pitch the baseball today.

The teams met 7 times this year, each of the last 4, and 5 of the 7 for the year did manage to play their way Over the total. That includes Kluber's lone start against Houston, an 11-2 final back on May 25th in favor of the 'Stros. Kluber was a most definite Over pitcher this year, as evidenced by his 19-12-2 Over mark. His road ERA is 3.80 for the season, 10 of his 16 away starts landing Over the total.

It is a little harder to poke holes in Verlander's resume, as he does own 12 scoreless innings over his last pair of starts, and just one run allowed over his last 19 frames, but 2 of those 3 starts did play Over the total, and his home ERA is at 2.84.

With a total of just 6 and a hook, I will take a shot at some crooked figures being posted.

Tribe-'Stros Over in Game One.

3* CLEVELAND-HOUSTON OVER

Chris Jordan

My free winner for Friday is Game 1 between the Cleveland Indians and the Houston Astros, as I'm playing the Under in what should be a fantastic pitchers' duel.

MAKE NOTE: All Run Line/Total plays automatically list pitchers with the starters who are scheduled to go at the time of the wager, and I want you to be sure the following pitchers are the starters of record on your ticket when making your play: Corey Kluber and Justin Verlander. If one or both of these pitchers is not going, this is a no-play.

Kluber opens the postseason for the Tribe after coming off a stellar campaign (20-7, 2.89 ERA) that has him in the hunt for a third career American League Cy Young Award. Cleveland's ace is 4-2 with a 3.54 ERA in eight career playoff starts, and closed the season with a 2-0 mark and 2.70 ERA over his last three starts.

Kluber allowed more than three earned runs in just six of 33 starts this season. He faced Houston twice this season, in back-to-back starts in late May, and was 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA in those games.

Meanwhile, the defending champs open the ALDS with their ace, Verlander, who was sensational last postseason, going 4-1 with a 2.21 ERA and 38 strikeouts in his six outings to help lead Houston to its first World Series title.

Verlander, 1-0 with a 0.47 ERA in his last three starts, hasn't given up more two earned runs in a game since August, as he finished September with a 3-0 mark and 1.09 ERA in five starts. He didn't allow any runs in his last two starts of the season.

Play this one low.

1* UNDER Astros-Indians (Kluber-Verlander)

Let's start with Anderson, who get the nod for Game 2 at Miller Park, and would have benefitted from a 1-0 series lead, rather than having to play under pressure to tie the series.

Anderson was bombed by the Brewers on Aug. 4, when they handed him one of his worst losses of the season. Milwaukee scored seven runs and hit three homers in four innings. So despite a 3.25 ERA in his five September starts, I think he'll struggle tonight against the hard-hitting, red-hot Brewers.

I'll bank on Chacin, who allowed one hit over 5 2/3 innings against the Chicago Cubs in Monday’s tiebreaker. The right-hander is making a shortened start on three days' rest for his first postseason appearance, and no, he has never gone three days between starts in his career, but he is strong enough to get Milwaukee off and running before getting the bullpen involved.

Take the Brewers here, as last night's win will carry over into a momentous day at the plate.

3* BREWERS RUN LINE (Chacin over Anderson)

Jack Brayman

MAKE NOTE: All Run Line/Total plays automatically list pitchers with the starters who are scheduled to go at the time of the wager, and I want you to be sure the following pitchers are the starters of record on your ticket when making your play: Anibal Sanchez and Clayton Kershaw. If one or both of these pitchers is not going, this is a no-play.

I had a colleague tell me last night during the Vegas Golden Knights game that he felt Kershaw would be pissed off he didn't start the series-opener. I don't know how much of that will be true, as much as I believe he'll be tuned up after watching Hyun-Jin Ryu spin a gem in Los Angeles' 6-0 win.

The Dodgers have won Kershaw's last four National League Divisional Series starts dating back to 2015, so there is always confidence when he toes the slab. The left-handed ace has pitched his team to victory in his last eight outings. And make note, he struck out eight over 7 2/3 innings against Atlanta on July 27.

Sanchez, meanwhile, is 2-4 with a 2.79 ERA over 38 2/3 career innings in the postseason. And now he faces a lineup that has been tearing things up of late, including Max Muncy, who has 35 home runs this season, which ranks fifth in the National League. Enrique Hernandez has two home runs and six RBIs while slugging .818 over his past 10 games for Los Angeles, which has outscored opponents by 44 runs in its last 11 games.

Play the Dodgers on the Run Line tonight.

5* DODGERS RUN LINE

MLB | Indians vs Astros
Play on: Indians +146 at 5Dimes

Dave’s Friday Free Play:

1* on Cleveland Indians +146

The Key: I like the price we are getting with the Cleveland Indians today in what looks to be a pretty evenly matched game on the mound. Corey Kluber is 20-7 with a 2.89 ERA in 33 starts this season for the Indians. Justin Verlander is 16-9 with a. 2.52 ERA in 34 starts for the Astros, but just 4-7 with a 2.84 ERA in 19 home starts. Betting Verlander at home this season would net you -19.2 units as he has been a terrible bet at home. Verlander sports a 4.68 ERA in 52 lifetime starts against Cleveland. In his last home start against the Indians, he yielded 7 earned runs and 12 base runners in 3 1/3 innings of an 8-11 loss. Kluber is 5-3 with a. 3.04 ERA in 9 lifetime starts against the Astros. He fired 6 1/3 shutout innings in his last start against them on May 25th. The Indians are 57-25 in Kluber’s last 82 starts. Take Cleveland.
