Red Sox vs. Braves
Braves+110

This play just missed out on our premium card. The Boston Red Sox and the Atlanta Braves face off and in this game the underdog has the value.

On the mound for the Braves is Touki Toussaint who looked good in his only major league start. He went six innings giving up only one hit and two runs.

As an underdog they have the value.

Back the Braves.

Royals (Junis) @ Indians (Plutko) 4:10 PM ET

Game# 971-972

Play On: Over 9.0

The Royals bats have been loud during their past 7 games. During that time frame, Kansas City has averaged a robust 6.6 runs scored per game, compiled a massive .969 OPS, and smashed 15 home runs. They’ll be facing Indians right-hander Adam Plutko today, and he’s surrendered an alarming 10 home runs thru just 51 1/3 innings pitched in 2018. The Royals Jake Junis has made 2 starts against Cleveland this season and had an enormous 9.82 ERA in those appearances. The Royals bullpen has struggled all season and that includes their relievers posting a collective 6.00 ERA throughout their last 7 games. Bet on this game to go over the total for my Monday 9/3 MLB free pick of the day.

Edmonton vs. Calgary
The CFL comp Play is on the Under at 3;00 eastern.

This game fits a powerful totals system that has gone under 72 of 110 times long term in the CFL and pertains to home teams with a total of 52 or more. Edmonton will have a tough time scoring here and Calgary is 5-0 under off a spread win, 4 of the last 5 at home, 5 of 7 in week 12 and 9 of 12 under in September vs winning teams. Look for this game to stay under today.

Red Sox vs. Braves
Red Sox-123

It's hard not to like the Red Sox at a short chalk price, moreso when they are facing a rookie pitcher. The Red Sox are 11-3 during interleague competition and draw Braves rookie righty Touki Toussaint. Atlanta has a losing record in interleague at 8-9. Toussaint does bring strong minor league credentials. He pitched well in his big league debut on Aug. 13 in his previous start giving up one run on two hits in six innings. That came against the Marlins, though. Boston is 50 games above .500 sitting on the best record in baseball. The Red Sox are a mind-blowing 76-30 versus righty starters. They also are 30-8 in day games. Toussaint ain't facing the Marlins this time. He really has to step up. Boston leads the majors in many offensive categories, including runs, batting average and OPS. Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi is streaky. I believe he'll be strong here having been limited to only two innings during his last start because of rain this past Friday. Eovaldi has a 2.82 lifetime ERA against the Braves in 13 starts and a 2.06 ERA in six interleague starts this season.

Giants vs. Rockies
Rockies-132

My free play is on the Col Rockies at 3:10 ET. The Rockies open a three-game series against the Giants in Coors Field on Labor Day. Colorado sits 74-62, just one-half game behind the division-leading LA Dodgers in the NL West (Arizona looms a half-game back of the Rockies). The 68-70 Giants are coming off a nine-game homestand in which they went a modest 5-4, after scoring three runs or less in six of their last seven contests.

San Francisco lefty Madison Bumgarner (5-5, 2.68 ERA) takes the mound in Monday's game. Bumgarner is coming off an excellent August in which he held opponents to one run or less in four of his six starts. He finished with just a 2-1 record (Giants were 4-2) but owns a 2.08 ERA in that span despite giving up six runs in a setback at Cincinnati on Aug. 18. Bumgarner is 12-8 with a 2.93 ERA in 28 career starts against the Rockies, including 0-1 with a 1.38 ERA in two starts this year (SF is 1-1).

Colorado lefty Tyler Anderson (6-7, 4.79) takes the mound on a nine-game winless drought (he's 0-4 and the Rockies are 1-8!). He has surrendered 19 runs on 24 hits over his last three starts spanning just 11 1/3 innings, giving him an ugly 15.09 ERA in that span. Anderson is 1-2 with a 4.11 ERA in five starts against the Giants in his career, including two this season in which he's 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA (Colorado is 1-1).

Bumgarner is clearly the better pitcher but the Rockies are 5-1 at Coors Field vs the Giants in 2018. The Giants come in a poor 29-40 on the road this season and San Francisco limps into the contest batting just .212 with runners in scoring position over its last 21 contests. The bet here is that Anderson ends his winless drought.

Good luck...Larry

My free play for Monday is on the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Cincinnati Reds in National League Central action. And in this game I want you to list the scheduled starting pitchers: Matt Harvey and Trevor Williams.

Though we're dealing with the bottom two teams in the division, let's not forget the Pirates were near the top of the division during the first half, and have challenged the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers throughout the season. Pitching eventually did them in. But now they're playing the worst team in the Central.

And I'll count on Williams to have a big game, as he enters his 27th start of 2018 having posted a 0.75 ERA over his last 48 innings that span eight outings. The right-hander has started eight shutouts this season. He hasn’t faced the Reds since April 6, when he gave up two runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings, but that won't mean a thing against a team that just scored the eight-least number of runs in August, with 113.

On the other hand, I suspect the Bucs will jump all over Harvey, who has one of the highest opponent batting averages (.351) in the National League the third time through a lineup. His durability is crap. We just saw that last Wednesday, when all five Brewers he faced for the third time, during the 5th inning, stroked hits and led to three runs. The Pirates will be merciless.

Take Pittsburgh in this matinee.

Probably American League Wild Card preview today in Oakland, as the A's play host to the Yankees.

Siding with Oakland in this spot, as New York had to fly west after their loss at home yesterday afternoon to Detroit, and will now have to play this game at 1pm local time.

New York has dropped 4 of their last 7 games, and they have also dropped 5 of their last 7 to Oakland.

It will be CC Sabathia and Trevor Cahill working the hill, and it is Cahill's home mark of 4-0 with a 0.85 ERA that has me liking Oakland in this spot today.

The A's get the comfort of having spent the night in their home bed and a starter that has not lost at home this season as they go against a team making the trek cross-country while having to play during the day.

Back Oakland this afternoon.

Red Sox vs. Braves
OVER 9

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach MLB Game #979 Monday Free Pick OVER the total in Atlanta Braves vs Boston Red Sox @ 1:05 ET - Boston's Nathan Eovaldi allowed 5 earned runs in 5 innings the last time he made a start at Atlanta. The Red Sox right-hander enters this start struggling as Eovaldi has gone 0-3 with a 9.53 ERA in his last 3 starts. The Braves counter with rookie Touki Toussaint whom, coming into this season had only pitched in 7 games above the single A level of the minors in his entire minor league career. The point is that this is still a young (and raw) hurler. Yes, Toussaint is absolutely talented but he is going to be much more challenged today by one of the top lineups in baseball than he was in his first career MLB start when he faced a much less tougher lineup - the Marlins. The Red Sox are off of a shutout loss yesterday but have previously scored an average of 7.6 runs per game in their 5 prior games and should bounce right back here. The Braves, after a 5-1 win yesterday, have scored at least 4 runs in 6 of their last 7 games and they should have no trouble with a struggling Eovaldi here. The over is 11-6 in Braves inter-league games this season. Boston is 5-1 to the over in Eovaldi's last 6 road starts. Free Pick OVER the total in Atlanta

Tigers vs. White Sox
White Sox-122

The Chicago White Sox are coming off an 8-0 win over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. They have won seven of 10, 13 of 19 and 18 of 30 and I like the price on another White Sox win here Monday afternoon with Reynaldo Lopez (5-9, 4.51 ERA) on the mound. The 24 year old right-hander limited the Yankees to one run and five hits in seven innings his last time out and the White Sox have won each of his last three starts.

The Tigers hand the ball to Michael Fulmer (3-10, 4.71 ERA) who is 0-5 with a 5.90 ERA in his past seven starts and 2-4 with a 6.06 ERA in 10 starts on the road this season.

Detroit has won six straight matchups at Guaranteed Rate Field, but that's a losing streak White Sox look primed to snap today.

RAY CHADWICK

My Labor Day free play is the Red Sox and the Braves to land Over the total with Eovaldi and Toussaint on the mound.

These teams met back in May, and 2 of the 3 showdowns did indeed land Over the total.

Boston just played all 3 against the Chicago White Sox Under the total, while Atlanta just played all 3 games against the Pittsburgh Pirates Under the total. That tells me the bats are ready to make some noise this Monday afternoon at Sun Trust Park!

Nathan Eovaldi has been hit hard over his last 3 starts, as his 9.53 ERA indicates. Expect him to be hit hard again today. Meanwhile. Atlanta has called back up rookie Touki Toussaint to make his second big league start. He did pitch quite well last month against Miami, as he worked 6 innings with just one run allowed against Miami. Still, pitching against Miami is one thing, this start will come against one of the best hitting teams in all of baseball.

I say play the game Over and look for the offenses to make some noise today.

Event: (953) Philadelphia Phillies at (954) Miami Marlins
Sport/League: MLB
Date/Time: September 3, 2018 1PM EDT
Play: Total Under 8.0 (-105)

The Phillies are in a pennant race with the Atlanta Braves and also find themselves looking up at both the Rockies and Diamondbacks in the Wild Card standings. After losing four of their last six at home to divisional opponents Washington and Chicago, they head to Miami where they have averaged just three runs per game this season in six contests.

Phillies pitcher Vince Velasquez has had the total go over in each of his last three starts but was 8-1 to the under in his previous nine. The Phillies played in Chicago on Sunday and now make the trip to Miami to play on Monday. Neither team is overly impressive offensively as the Phillies average 3.94 runs per game on the road.

The early start time combined with each team playing the day before and Philadelphia's travel make this an attractive under play.

Event: (645) Edmonton Eskimos at (646) Calgary Stampeders
Sport/League: CFL
Date/Time: September 3, 2018 3PM EDT
Play: 1H Total Under 27.0 (-110)

The Edmonton Eskimos take on their rival the Calgary Stampeders in the battle of Alberta during rivalry Labour Day weekend in the CFL in a HIGHLY anticipated matchup between the top 2 teams in the western conference.

In a game where the Calgary Stampeders can practically clinch the Western conference this game is bound do be a tight one.

As most people already might know, the Calgary Stampeders have been a dominant force in the league for countless years now, but in the past few years they still haven't been able to capture a Grey Cup championship, having said that I think I've found the reason why they are a far different team this year. Their DEFENCE has absolutely stepped it up this season.

The Stamps are only allowing 16.89 points per game. They have been absolutely shutting teams down. It all starts with defensive Lineman Charleston Hughes who is having an outstanding year putting pressure on the opposition.

The total has gone under in 10 of the Stamps last 14 games.

The total has gone under in 4 of the Stamps last 5 games at home.

The Under is 8-2 in the Stamps last 10 games following a Straight up win.

Most people know how strong Edmonton's offence is, being lead by the reigning Most Outstanding Player Mikey Reilly and WR Derel Walker but the biggest question has always been their defencence, can they get stops? The Edmonton Eskimos have been working all week long to prepare for this high-powered Stampeders offence led by Bo-Levi Mitchell and I belive they will be prepared.

The first half of this game should be a feeling out process for both teams and 27 is WAY too high of a total for my liking. Take the UNDER...

1* Free Pick on Edmonton Eskimos +7.5

Calgary is getting way too much respect here from the books at home against the Eskimos. Edmonton comes in off a mere 1-point loss at Hamilton, but have still won 4 of their last 6.

The Stampeders won easily 39-26 in their last game at home against Winnipeg, but that actually puts Calgary in a major fade spot.

Home favorites of 3.5 to 10 points who have a winning record and are off a home win against a division rival are a mere 15-40 (27%) ATS going back to 1996.

We also find a great system backing a play on Edmonton, as road underdogs of 3.5 to 10 points who are off a game where they gave up 450 or more total yards are 86-46 (65%) ATS going back to 1996.

The Eskimos are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 against a team from the West, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 vs a team with a winning record. Take Edmonton!

10* FREE MLB PICK (Astros -1.5, -120)

I'll take my chances here with Houston on the -1.5 run line at home against the Twins. The Astros just took the final 2 games against LA over the weekend and are 7-3 in their last 10. Hard to not like Houston to win by at least 2 runs against the slumping Twins, who have lost 7 of their last 9. Not to mention Minnesota will have Kyle Gibson on the mound, who has allowed 12 runs on 15 hits and 7 walks in his last 2 starts at Chicago and Cleveland. Houston on the other hand will have Dallas Keuchel on the mound, who is coming off back-to-back strong starts. Lastly, we see the Twins are 0-9 this season when coming into a road game after allowing 7 or more runs in their previous two contests and have lost these games by an average of 4.5 runs/game. Take Houston -1.5, -120!
