#NBA FREE PICK FROM MIKE LUNDIN

The Milwaukee Bucks put a 109-95 beating on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day. That game went way under the total (which closed at 225.5 points), but four straight meetings prior to that had gone over and I think points will come fast and easy for both teams in the second leg of the home-and-home set tonight.

The Knicks have allowed an average of 117.0 ppg on the road this season and over/under is 12-7 in their 19 games away from home (10-3 in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a winning home record). The Bucks are the highest scoring team in the league and have been averaging a superb 119.7 ppg home at Fiserv Forum on the season.

The Knicks know they'll need to score in order to keep this close, and I expect this to turn into a fast-paced shootout.

Free pick on OVER in Milwaukee.

NCAA-F | Vanderbilt vs Baylor
Play on: Baylor +4 -105 at Bovada

Baylor/Vanderbilt 9:00: Vanderbilt is clearly the trendy play here; after all, they're from the stronger conference (SEC) and played a tougher schedule. Nevertheless, they've found ways of losing games and I'm questioning their focus here. On the other hand, Baylor's Matt Rhule did a bang up job bringing the Bears back to respectability. And he had time to help work on the struggling offensive line to protect QB Brewer. The Bears do have RB Lovett (546 rush yards /5 TDs) to lend a hand, and WR Mims (699 yards/8 TDs) to offset for the loss of top receiver - Hurd (knee). And remember, in 2014, Rhule's Temple Owls beat Vandy 37-7 in Derek Mason's first game as HC of the Commodores. We'll take the points here in a small play.

Look for the points to be held to a minimum when Vanderbilt and Baylor do battle in this year's Texas Bowl.

The Commodores did flash some offense down the stretch, as they averaged close to 37 points per game over their final 4, but the Under still banked in each of their last 3 games. The Under is also 5-2 their last 7 games, and for the year the Under for the 'Dores connected in 9 of their 12 games for the season.

The Bears come into their first bowl game in the Matt Rhule era having ended the season with 4 of their last 6 games having seen them score 17 points or less. Not surprisingly, the Bears held Under in 4 straight and 5 of those 6 overall.

Vandy likes to pound the football with running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn who recorded 100 yards or more in 3 of his last 4 games on the season. They also have a savvy senior quarterback in Kyle Schurmer who will protect the football and keep it out of the hands of the Baylor attack, thus minimizing the scoring opportunities that Baylor will have in this game.

The Bears have a penchant for turning the football over, as they were a conference-worst -9 for the season, and they allowed going on 40 sacks to their quarterback Charlie Brewer. Bad mix if you ask me when it comes to putting points on the scoreboard.

You have a few miscues when driving for scores, and there are large time droughts where points are not scored, and that is what I expect here...Bears turning it over, 'Dores playing keep away with Vaughn chewing up the clock.

This one doesn't get out of the 40's in total points.

Vanderbilt-Baylor Under.

Your comp play for Thursday will be the Bucks over the Knicks in the NBA.

These teams just played at Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day, and it was Milwaukee cruising to the 109-95 road win and cover as the -10 point road favorites.

That loss runs the Knickerbockers losing streak to 5 straight, and it also sees them having lost 12 of their last 14 overall! With the points it really hasn't been much better either, as New York is just 3-10 their last 13 games, including having failed in each of their last 4 setbacks.

Milwaukee stands at 14-3 straight up at home, and are a money-making 10-6-1 against the spread on their home court this season as well. They enter play here on Thursday having won 7 of their last 9, with a 5-3-1 against the spread mark in their last 9 contests.

Since New York could not stay withing earshot on Christmas on their home floor, it seems unlikely that they stay close in this road game tonight.

Bucks by a billion.

4* MILWAUKEE

Thursday night free play on Golden State in their home game against Portland.

It was not a pretty Christmas for either team, as Portland was on the wrong side of a 117-96 game in Salt Lake City against the Jazz, while Golden State lost an eye-popping 127-101 contest to the Lakers, and on their home floor no less!

Tonight I expect it to be the Warriors who bounce-back in the front end of this home-and-home with the Blazers that will conclude on Saturday night up in Rip City.

The home team in this series has won 4 straight and 7 of the last 10 showdowns.

Portland comes into Oakland tonight is just an 8-22 overall spread mark their last 30 games contested on the Oracle Arena hardwood.

The Blazers are also on a 1-7 road slide their last 8, and that does include their last visit to Oaktown, a 125-97 blowout loss to the Dubs back on November 23rd.

The Warriors are still 15-4 straight up on their home court, and while this price is a little "steep", I suggest laying it, as I am sure there was some soul-searching done after getting routed by the Lakers on their home court on Christmas Day.

Golden State to bounce-back tonight with the blowout win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

2* GOLDEN STATE

NBA | Blazers vs Warriors
Play on: Warriors -9 -102 at pinnacle

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Golden State Warriors -9

The Warriors should come back pretty hungry for a win today after an embarrassing showing against the Lakers on Christmas Day. And they’re playing a Portland Trail Blazers team that is struggling right now, going 1-2 SU & 0-3 ATS in their last three games. The Blazers lost by 30 as home favorites against Utah and by 21 as 7-point road dogs in a rematch with Utah. They also needed overtime to beat Dallas by 3 as 7-point favorites during this stretch. The Warriors are 22-8 ATS in their last 30 home meetings with the Blazers. They won 125-97 at home in their first and only meeting with the Blazers this season. The Blazers are 1-8 ATS in their last nine road games. Give me the Warriors.

NCAA-F | Miami-FL vs Wisconsin
Play on: Wisconsin +2½ -103 at pinnacle

Jack’s Free Pick Thursday: Wisconsin +2.5

The Pinstripe Bowl is a matchup of two 7-5 teams coming off disappointing regular seasons after having big expectations coming into the year. So the goal is to find out which team is not only better, but also more motivated. And I think that team is Wisconsin in both categories.

For starters, this is going to be a cold weather game in New York with temperatures expected to be around 40 degrees. Well, Wisconsin is used to playing in cold weather. There’s no way a warm weather team like Miami can be too excited to be playing in this cold weather game. And they simply won’t be used to it like Wisconsin is.

The Badgers have to feel disrespected as underdogs here after beating Miami 34-24 in South Florida in the Orange Bowl last year. Certainly Wisconsin fans will travel well, but I question how well Miami fans will travel to be up in the cold weather of New York as well. It’s a Wisconsin team that is not used to being an underdog.

Miami has somehow been favored in all 12 games thus far, and now you can make that all 13. That speaks to just how overrated this Miami team has been all season, and also the ease of their schedule. The Hurricanes played the 60th-toughest schedule in the country, while Wisconsin played a much tougher schedule having to face the likes of Iowa, Michigan and Penn State.

Miami will be without All-American DT Gerald Willis, who is probably one of the best two or three defensive tackles in the country. He is sitting out to prepare for the NFL. Without him, Wisconsin will find some success with its 7th-ranked ground game in the country. The Badgers average 268.4 rushing yards per game this season. Jonathan Taylor is primed for his second 2,000-yard season and averages a nation-best 165.8 rushing yards per game.

Wisconsin’s defense should be able to shut down a Miami offense that has gotten terrible quarterback play all season. N’Kosi Perry completed just 51.6% of his 186 attempts this season while Malik Rosier completed just 53.5% of his 144 attempts. I’m just not sure how this Miami offense is going to move the football against what is still a very good Wisconsin defense. And Wisconsin starting QB Jack Can has performed well, completing 61% of his 82 pass attempts this season.

Mark Richt is 0-6 ATS when playing against a marginal winning team (51% to 60%) as the coach of Miami. The Hurricanes are 3-11 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record over the last two seasons. Wisconsin is 14-4 ATS when the total is 42.5 to 49 over the last three seasons. The Badgers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games played on a grass field. The Hurricanes are 1-7 SU in their last eight bowl games. Miami is 1-8 ATS in its last nine neutral site games. Bet Wisconsin Thursday.

NBA | Celtics vs Rockets
Play on: Celtics -1½ -115 at BMaker

Dave’s Thursday Free Play:

1* on Boston Celtics -1.5

The Key: The Houston Rockets are just 2-5 without Chris Paul this season. Their two wins have been close home victories. And now there’s a chance they could be without James Harden, who suffered a calf injury on Christmas Day in the win over the Thunder. They are also without another starter in James Ennis III. I like the Celtics here, who have played well since their players’ only meeting a few days ago. They won and covered in a 119-103 home win over Charlotte as 7.5-point favorites and won and covered 121-114 over the 76ers as 5-point favorites. The Celtics are now 10-3 SU & 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games overall. They are the better team in this matchup right now because they are fully healthy. And they should have no problem covering this short price on the road. Take Boston.
