Tuesday comp play on the Wizards to build off of their 128-110 home win over the Lakers on Sunday that snapped a 4-game losing streak.
The Wizards will be playing on the road against an Atlanta team that continues to absorb lopsided losses. The most recent, a 144-127 loss at Brooklyn to make it 3 straight and 7 of their last 8 in the loss column. In that stretch, Atlanta has only covered twice, so getting just +3 points is not something I am too hip on, that is for sure!
Washington has been the series winner in 5 of the last 7 meetings, and that includes a double-digit win 12 days ago on the court at State Farm Arena, 131-117 as the -3 1/2 point favorite.
Bradley Beal and John Wall combined for a whopping 65 points in Sunday's best showing of the season in that win over Los Angeles, and now the Wizards will add a new piece in Trevor Ariza who should contribute some much-needed help right away.
Perhaps a run brewing for Washington? Can't say for certain, but playing this injured 6-win Atlanta team should help the Wizards make it 2 in a row.
Lay the road wood.
4* WASHINGTON

Jack’s Free Pick Tuesday: Lakers/Nets OVER 227
The Lakers play at the third-fastest pace in the NBA this season. This should be a shootout tonight with the Brooklyn Nets, who are really clicking offensively right now. So we’ll back the OVER 227 as Tuesday’s free pick in pro hoops Tuesday night.
The Lakers have scored at least 108 points in nine consecutive games and are putting up 113.4 points per game on the season. They have gone OVER the total in three straight thanks to giving up 354 total points in their last three games overall.
Brooklyn has also gone OVER the total in three straight. They are scoring 132.0 points pre game in their last three games while also giving up 123.0 points per game in their last three. I expect both the Nets and Lakers to top 120 points tonight, though we don’t need nearly that much to get the OVER. 115 points apiece will do.
Brooklyn is 13-3 OVER in its lsat 16 home games off three or more consecutive wins. The Nets are 15-4 OVER in their last 19 home games vs. great offensive teams that score 110-plus points per game on the season. The OVER is 4-1 in Lakers last five road games. The OVER is 11-4 in Nets last 15 vs. Western Conference opponents. Bet the OVER in this game Tuesday.

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Wizards/Hawks OVER 236.5
Two teams who love to play small ball and play at a fast pace go at it tonight when the Washington Wizards take on the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks are 1st in the NBA in pace and the Wizards at 7th. But the Wizards have been forced to go even smaller since losing Dwight Howard to injury. The OVER is 5-1 in Wizards last six games overall with combined scores of 238 or more four times. The OVER is 7-3 in Hawks last 10 games overall and they are coming off a 271-point outing in a 127-144 loss at Brooklyn on Sunday. The OVER is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings in Atlanta. Give me the OVER.

Play on: UNDER 236 -108
Washington has had problems with their defence this season, but did play a tougher brand of basketball last time out taking out the LA Lakers 128-110. The team as a whole has been asked to step up and take responsibility in transition . Also with the acquisition of two way hard working Trevor Ariza from Phoenix in a trade, Im looking for him to spark this team to work harder on their stopping abilities starting tonight against their hosts Atlanta. I know Atlanta likes to run and gun , but their offensive efficiency is ranked 28th in the league, and they could easily be slowed here tonight vs a side looking to be more responsible defensively. This will Im betting one of the factors that makes this total beatable with a under wager.
Note:Under is 9-4-1 in Wizards last 14 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
WASHINGTON is 13-4 UNDER off a home win by 10 points or more over the last 2 seasons with a combined average of 209.5 ppg scored.
ATLANTA is 19-7 UNDER after scoring 105 points or more 3 straight games over the last 3 seasons with a combined average of 207.6 ppg going on the board.
WASHINGTON is 9-1 UNDER vs. sub par rebounding teams - outrebounded by opponents by 5+/game over the last 2 seasons with a combined average score of 207.2 ppg scored.ATLANTA is 22-8 UNDER vs. sub par rebounding teams - outrebounded by opponents by 3+ per game over the last 3 seasons with a combined average of 204 ppg going on the scoreboard.
NBA Road teams where the total is greater than or equal to 220 (WASHINGTON) - after 1 or more consecutive wins, a bad team (25% to 40%) playing a team with a losing record are 29-3 UNDER L/22 seasons for a 91% conversion rate for bettors.

NBA | Wizards vs Hawks
Play on: Hawks +3½ -109 at GTBets
The Wizards are off a big win over the Lakers. They also have a rematch against Houston, a team they beat in OT a few weeks ago, on deck tomorrow night. Given that setup, it should be easy for them to have a letdown and/or to look past the 'lowly' Hawks. Note that Washington is just 6-17 ATS over the years, when coming off a victory of 15 or more points, when it'd been listed as a home underdog. With an O/U ine in the min 230s, its also worth mentioning that the Wizards are only 1-6 ATS the past seven times that they played a road game with an O/U line of 230 or greater. The Hawks, who have dropped three straight, know that this is their final home game before Christmas. Note that they're 4-1 ATS after giving up 230 or more. Playing with revenge from a loss here a couple of weeks ago, expect their best effort to lead to AT LEAST a cover. Consider ATLANTA.

10* FREE NBA PICK (Lakers -2)
I'll take my chances here with the Lakers as a slim road favorite against the Nets. I just feel we are getting a favorable line here based on the fact that Los Angeles comes in off an ugly 18-point loss at Washington and Brooklyn enters having won 5 straight and are riding a 6-game ATS win streak. The Lakers ugly loss to the Wizards was a direct result of them playing back-to-back road games on no rest. While this will be their 4th straight on the road, they got some much-needed rest yesterday and what I like is how this team has responded from defeat. Since their slow start, Los Angeles hasn't lost back-to-back games just once since Oct. 31. Give me the Lakers -2!

#NHL FREE PICK FROM MIKE LUNDIN
The San Jose Sharks are looking for a fifth consecutive win, but I think they'll run into some serious trouble as ever so often here at Minnesota Tuesday night.
The Wild had opened a four-game homestand by outscoring Montreal and Florida by a combined 12-2 before taking a 2-1 loss to the red hot Flames on Saturday. They're 9-3 in their last 12 games playing on two days rest and have won 10 of the last 12 matchups with the Sharks at Xcel Energy Center.
San Jose is 2-6 in its last eight vs. a team with a winning record and have lost each of their last two games when closing as underdogs.
Free pick on Minnesota Wild.

1* Free NCAAB Pick on USC Trojans -8
This is perfect spot to jump on the Trojans. USC comes in having lost 3 straight and failed to cover 4 in a row, which has them laying a favorable number here against an inferior Santa Clara team. Note that the 3-game losing streak all came against quality opponents in Nevada, TCU and Oklahoma.
The Broncos have played 3 Power 5 teams so far in Washington, Minnesota and Cal. They lost all 3 by double-digits. Keep in mind USC was picked to finish ahead of both Washington and Cal in the Pac-12. In fact, the Golden Bears were the consensus pick to finish in the basement of the conference.
These two teams played in early December last year and USC cruised to a 23-point home win as a 15.5-point favorite.
USC is 33-17 ATS in road games under head coach Andy Enfield after playing their previous game as an underdog. Trojans are also a perfect 8-0 ATS last 8 vs a team from the WCC. Santa Clara is 2-9 ATS last 11 after playing 2 straight games as a favorite and 0-7 ATS last 7 at home after 2 or more wins. Take USC!

1* Free Sharp Play on San Jose State +19½ -109
My money is on the Spartans to cash in an easy cover here as a near 20-point dog against the Cardinal. While San Jose State comes in with a mere 3-6 record, they have won their last 2. As for Stanford, this is a very mediocre team and overvalued right now due to the fact that they are playing an inferior opponent after covering the spread in 4 straight games. The Cardinal should win, but it will be the Spartans who cover. Bet San Jose State +19.5!

Here we have a very, very low total placed on this Boca Raton Bowl between 2 rock-solid defensive teams in Northern Illinois and UAB, but the total looks too low for me, as both teams have quarterbacks that have thrown plenty of interceptions this season.
NIU QB Marcus Childers has 10 picks on the year for NIU, and on the UAB side, AJ Erdely has 7 picks, while backup Tyler Johnston has thrown 8 picks on the season.
The opportunity for turnovers is real, and with a total right around 6 touchdowns combined as I type my analysis, well, I have a feeling we will be seeing just enough scoring to take this game Over the total.
NIU has played their last 3 games away from DeKalb Over the total, including the MAC Title Game in Detroit in a 30-29 win over Buffalo.
UAB ended the season by playing Over the total in 4 of their last 5 games, including their revenge 27-25 win at Middle Tennessee State in the Conference USA Championship Game.
The Blazers do average 29 points per game on the year, while the Huskies come in with a 20 points per game average. If the two teams can just hit their average, then this one lands in the Over column.
This one won't be a "score-fest", but in the end there will be enough points combined to get this one to inch Over the total in Boca Raton on Tuesday night.
3* NIU-UAB OVER

The Mountaineers calling card last year was a stingy defense that ranked 4th in Sun Belt Conference in defensive efficiency, and 2nd in the loop in defensive rebounding, but that has not really been the case for this 4-6 team this season, as they enter this Tuesday night tussle in D.C. having played Over the total in 7 of their last 8 line games, and they have been out-rebounded in 6 of those 8 with one game ending even.
The Hoyas are looking to end a 2 game straight up losing streak, and as the double-digit favorite tonight the line would suggest them being able to do so. I see the offense continuing to score points for Patrick Ewing's team, as Georgetown comes into this game having played Over the total in 7 of their 9 lined games this season. Overall, the Hoyas enter with Overs played in 17 of their last 21 lined games overall, including 12 of their 14 with a line at home!
With limited size in the paint, look for Hoyas big-man Jesse Govan to have his way once again. The 6'10" beast leads the team in scoring, and has recorded double-doubles in 2 of Georgetown's last 3 games contested.
Appalachian State and Georgetown are both averaging close to 80 points per game, and Appy State is allowing just over 83 points per game to be scored against them!
With the Hoyas looking to get off their 2 game losing skid, the offense should flow against the defensively porous Mountaineers tonight.
Over trends for the teams are glaring, and tonight there is no disappointing the Over players, as this Mountaineers-Hoyas tilts exceeds the oddsmakers impost of 165 points.
2* APPALACHIAN STATE-GEORGETOWN OVER
