NBA | Heat vs Cavs

T.M. Selection: Cleveland Cavaliers (FREE PLAY)
Miami comes in off a deflating 113-104 home loss to the Wolves on Sunday, while the Cavaliers enter off a 111-108 road loss to the surging Hawks. This is a revenge game for Cleveland after the Heat took the first game of the series 118-94 on December 28th. The Heat are averaging only 106.7 PPG and they’re allowing 106.1. The Cavs are averaging 102.3 PPG and they’re allowing 111.3. Miami though is just 1-3 ATS in its last four as a road favorite in the 6.5 to 12 points range. Both teams are dealing with injuries. Each is struggling across the board, but I think the Cavs can keep this one competitive at home. How about you, do you think Cleveland can keep this one close, or do the Heat regroup and lay the hammer down?

This is a free #NCAAB play on the Kansas Jayhawks.
Oklahoma is 11-0 versus unranked teams, but in their one game versus a Top 25 team, they were crushed by a score of 78-58 in a loss to Wisconsin. Kansas isn't just a Top 25 team, the Jayhawks are ranked in the Top 5. They are still unbeaten at home, and they beat Oklahoma by 30 points at home last year. The Sooners have failed to cover in nine of their last 11 versus the BIG12, and they are likely coming into this game a little overrated after covering in nine of their last 10 versus non-conference opposition. While the Sooners have been impresssive, they haven't proven a lot based on a lack of quality wins. Kansas has marquee victories over Villanova, Tennessee and Michigan State. This game shouldn't be close, and I'll roll with the home favorite.

A trip out of town, particularly one to Phoenix, figures to do the Oilers some good. Despite having arguably the best player on the planet, the Oilers have under-achieved. If the playoffs were to begin today, the Oilers wouldn't be attending. All hope is not lost though, as they're still not too far behind and some of the teams in front of them aren't that strong. That said, time is slipping away and road games against teams like Arizona need to be taken advantage of. The Coyotes have actually been far better on the road (10-10) than they have been here at home. In fact, their 7-12 (7-11-1) home record is the worst in the league. The Oilers have taken six of the last seven against the Coyotes, dating back to a 3-2 win here in December of 2016. They should continue their dominance in the series. Consider Edmonton.

Free play for Wednesday is the Atlanta Hawks plus the points in their game at the Washington Wizards.
The Hawks have been playing their best basketball of the season to conclude December, as their 5-2 straight up and against the spread run started back on December 18th when they beat Washington, 118-110 as the +3 point home underdog.
On the flip side, the Wizards since that loss are just 2-5 straight up, and only 1-6 against the spread.
Washington will now play the remainder of the season without star guard John Wall who underwent heel surgery, so look for the Wizards to struggle replacing Wall's 20-plus points per game.
The Hawks have actually won and covered 3 of the last 5 series meetings against the Wizards, so look for the points to once again work tonight when Atlanta takes to the court against Washington.

Free play for Wednesday is the Nets at home over the Pelicans.
New Orleans just has not been able to duplicate their success from a season ago, and they enter this game riding a 5 game straight up and against the spread losing streak on the road, and for the season, the Pelicans are just 4-15 straight up on the highway.
Brooklyn has been cooled a bit, as they Nets were riding a 9-1 straight up run their last 10 games, but have now lost back-to-back contests. The silver lining though, is those games did come on the road. At home Brooklyn has picked up the win in 5 of their last 6 games.
Anthony Davis is listed as probable for this game, but the real story to me is the fact the Pelicans have been so dreadful on the road, and they do allow over 116 points per game when on the highway this season.
Brooklyn will be able to shake off their 2 game slide now that they are back at home and taking on the poor-traveling Pels.
Near pick'em goes to the Nets for Wednesday.

Big East battle between the Huskers and the Terrapins, and this is the type of game that Nebraska simply must win if they wish to be taken seriously come selection time for the Big Dance in a couple of months.
The Cornhuskers have plenty of veteran talent - James Palmer Jr., Glynn Watson Jr. and Isaac Copeland Jr. - and they should be able to step up big in this road game against the younger Terps.
Maryland does have Bruno Fernando and Anthony Cowan to rely on, and it would be a plus if Jalen Smith were at 100% for tonight's game (he is bothered by an ankle injury and missed the Terrapins last game), but the bottom line here is the smothering Huskers defense will make the difference.
Nebraska is currently 7th in the nation in points allowed, and that defense should bother a Maryland team that is not shooting it particularly well from behind the arc at 33.8%.
Look for the Cornhuskers defense to frustrate the Terrapins in this spot.
Nebraska is on a 10-3 against the spread run their last 13 on the road, and in Big Ten play the Huskers have covered 16 of their last 21.
These teams met just once last year, Nebraska notching the 70-66 home win and cover, and the Cornhuskers did win outright in their last trip to Maryland back in January of 2017.

I'll gladly take my chances here with the Knights as a small home favorite against the Owls. These two teams both come in at 10-2 and I think because of that we saw a lot of people jump on Temple at +6.5 when the line opened. I would have still leaned UCF at that price, but I can't pass up a play at this line. Chances are if the Knights win this game, they will do so by at least 5 points. UCF's 10-2 start is no joke. This was the team to beat in the AAC, as they have the best trio in the conference in Dawkins, Taylor and Fall. I just don't see them losing many games at home. Last two times Temple visited CFE Arena they haven't even been competitive. They lost 77-53 in Dec. of 2016 and 60-39 last year. Give me the Knights -4.5!
