Chargers vs. Bears

1* NFL - Free Pick on Chicago Bears -4 +100

I believe this is the perfect spot to jump on the Bears laying a short number at home against the Chargers. A lot of people expected Chicago to return from their bye with a win at home against the Saints, but they lost 36-25 to Teddy Bridgewater and New Orleans.

It was a shockingly bad game for the defense, which had held 4 of their first 5 opponents to 15 or fewer. I think that performance has the Bears showing great value here at home against the Chargers at almost the exact same number they were favored over the Saints.

The Chargers have lost 5 of 6 and their two wins are a OT victory over the Colts and a win against the Dolphins. Injuries have once again decimated LA and I just don't think they are going to be able to right the ship.

I'm expecting a big bounce back effort from the Bears defense in this one, as the Chargers are struggling to score with 20 or fewer in all 5 losses during their recent skid. Bears are 40-23 last 63 at home after losing 2 straight, 17-7-1 in their last 25 at home overall and 7-2 ATS last 9 vs a team with a losing record. Take Chicago!

Play - L.A. Chargers (Game 255).

Edges - Chargers: 8-1 ATS away in games with both teams coming off non-division opponents … Bears: 0-4 ATS as a favorite when coming off a home game versus an opponent coming off an away game … We recommend a 1* play on the L.A. Chargers. Thank you and good luck as always.

Browns vs. Patriots
Browns+14 -132

The set-up: Do or die? Now or never? Thankfully for the Browns even if they lose this game, they still have a mathematical shot at taking out division leader Baltimore. That said, I think this one sets up well for the Browns on a number of different levels and while I'll stop short in calling for the upset, I do definitely think that the stage is set for more of a competitive battle than what this spread would suggest. First off, the Browns truly are desperate for a win here. They also come in off their bye week. The Patriots are undefeated, but they enter off the short week after destroying the Jets on Monday night. Is it possible that New England gets caught "looking past" Cleveland as well today to its matchup in Baltimore next week, before its bye the following? Anything's possible.

The pick: Additionally note that the Browns are a perfect 2-0 ATS in their last two off an upset loss as a home favorite, while the Patriots are a sub-par 4-5 ATS in their last nine as a home favorite in the 7.5 to 14 points range. In my opinion, the overwhelming situational factors working in favor of Cleveland in this one, combined with these strong ATS trends and this large line indeed make the visitors worthy of a "second look" in this particular matchup.

1* FREE PLAY on Cleveland Browns.

Broncos vs. Colts
Broncos+6 -105

My 1* FREE PLAY is on the Denver Broncos.

This is a big game for both teams, but more so for the Broncos in my opinion. Denver enters off a 30-6 loss to the Chiefs, snapping a two-game win streak. The Colts on the other hand look primed for a bit of a letdown here in my opinion after their 30-23 win over division rival Houston last week. The Colts are in Pittsburgh next weekend, while the Broncos return home to face Cleveland, before their bye. The Broncos are only one game behind the Raiders for second in the division and three games back of now struggling Kansas City. This is an important "season defining" two-game stretch for Denver and I expect it to give the complacent home side everything it can handle.

Key Trends:

- Denver is 2-0 ATS in its last two after allowing 30 points or more in its previous game.

- Indianapolis is just 2-7 ATS in its last nine after two or more consecutive wins vs. the spread.

The verdict: Grab the points and expect an outright war until the final whistle!

Sunday's FREE WINNER: Seattle Seahawks.

Game 257.

10:00 am pst.

The 5-2 Seattle Seahawks are a very solid football team and will bounce back here after last week's subpar performance. This is a team that is 3-0, both SU and ATS on the road in 2019. Russell Wilson is having an MVP-like season (1,945 yards passing, 68.3 percent completion rate, 15/1). Atlanta is this season's biggest disappointment with a 1-6 record. The Falcons are on a five-game SU and ATS slide. Matt Ryan has a 154-game start streak that may come to an end this week (check status). If Ryan does not go, Matt Schaub will take the reins. Guys, it won't matter. They possess the 29th ranked rushing unit and the League's 31st ranked defense. Look for Pete Carroll to have his team focused and back on track here. The road team is 4-1 ATS the last five meetings in this series. The Falcons are 1-4 ATS the last five games vs. the NFC, 2-5 ATS the last seven games at home, and 8-20 the last 28 games overall. Take the Seahawks. Thank you.

Chargers vs. Bears

Jack’s Free Pick Sunday: Los Angeles Chargers +4

The Los Angeles Chargers are notorious slow starters. They are 2-5 this season to live up to that trend. But they are also notorious big finishers. They almost always seem to make a run in the second half of the season at the playoffs. Philip Rivers is the ultimate competitor and doesn’t give an inch. Plus, he’s nearing retirement, so you know he’s going to show up every week.

The Chargers are 2-5 this season, but all five losses have come by a touchdown or less. They could easily be 5-2 instead. I think they are undervalued because of their record, when in reality this is still an average to above average team. And I think we are getting extra value here with them as 4-point underdogs to the Bears this week.

The Bears had incredible turnover luck last season as their defense carried a poor offense to the NFC North title and a trip to the playoffs. They haven’t been nearly as fortunate this season, and their offense is worse than it was last year. The Bears are averaging just 18.7 points per game and 263.7 yards per game. They rank 29th in total offense, which is why they can’t be trusted to get margin. Mitch Trubisky is clearly seeing ghosts like Sam Darnold. He continually misses open receivers and is terrible at reading defenses.

You would think the Bears would have shown some fight coming out of their bye week after getting upset by the Raiders in London. Instead, they were thoroughly dominated at home by the Saints last week, at one point trailing 10-36. They scored a few garbage touchdowns late against a prevent defense to make the final score (25-36) look closer than it really was.

The Chargers are 42-25 ATS in their last 67 games as a road underdog of 3.5 to 7 points. Los Angeles is 7-0 ATS in road games off one or more consecutive ATS losses over the last three seasons. The Bears are 2-11 ATS in their last 13 games off an upset loss by 10 points or more as a home favorite. Los Angeles is 8-2-1 ATS in its last 11 road games. Bet the Chargers Sunday.

Panthers vs. 49ers

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Carolina Panthers +6

The spot is a good one for the Carolina Panthers. They come out of their bye week with a ton of momentum. They have gone 4-0 since an 0-2 start led by QB Kyle Allen, who isn’t getting the same attention as some of the other young quarterbacks in the league. Allen is now 5-0 as a starter dating back to Week 17 of last season. He isn’t making the same mistakes Cam Newton did before him, and he has been a more accurate passer by far. Christian McCaffrey is having an MVP-caliber season as well. The defense is back to being dominant in giving up 22.2 points and 344 yards per game. The Panthers haven’t lost a game by more than 6 points yet this season. The 49ers are getting a lot of attention for their 6-0 start, and rightfully so. But it’s now getting pricey to back them. This will be one of their toughest tests of the season against this rested, hot Panthers team. Ron Rivera is 22-12 ATS as a road dog of 7 points or less with the Panthers. Carolina is 6-1 ATS in its last seven against a team with a winning record. The 49ers are 8-17 ATS in their last 25 home games. The Panthers are 14-3 ATS in the last 17 meetings. Carolina is 9-1 ATS in its last 10 visits to San Francisco. Give me the Panthers.

Bucs vs. Titans

1* on Tennessee Titans -2.5

The Key: Ryan Tannehill is an upgrade of Marcus Mariota, period. Tannehill had one of the best performances by a Titans quarterback in years last week in leading them to a 23-20 home victory over the Chargers to save their season. He went 23 for 29 passing for 312 yards with two touchdowns and only one interception. He fit several balls into tight windows that Mariota could not do before him. He is being more decisive and getting the ball out of his hands quickly to several of the great targets the Titans have that have just been waiting to have a QB like him to get them the ball. Corey Davis, AJ Brown and Adam Humphries all had productive games with at least 4 receptions from Tannehill last week. It’s very hard to trust Jameis Winston to go on the road and not turn the ball over against a very good Titans defense. The Titans are only yielding 16 PPG and 328 YPG this season while ranking 4th in scoring and 8th in total defense. The Bucs are 0-6 ATS after allowing 30 points or more in 2 straight games over the last 3 years. It’s a bad Bucs defense that ranks 30th in scoring defense in allowing 30.8 PPG this year. Tannehill is primed for another 300-yard passing day against a Bucs defense that allows 303 PYPG. Take Tennessee.

Roger Federer vs. A De Minaur
A De Minaur+4½ +101

The hook baby! Had that hook not been on this +4.5 handicap I might not have touched it, but at even money I can handle it.

It's amazing how the +4.5 is +100 but the +5 is -160 and WAAAY out of my comfort zone at that line.

SO, with serving being the huge element to this Finals affair in Basel, and obviously we know Roger is surrounded by all his countrymen, I still see this as a match that De Minaur will give a worthy fight.

Of course, Roger will break the Aussie twice and tke equal 6 - 4 ; 6 - 4 sets to hoist the trophy, but that hook is why you see it holds the value to me.

AZ +10 (10 available is some locations as this free play is released. We still like it at anything over 7.5 Arizona has been "Money" for us this year, as we picked them up on the upswing. They are playing fiesty and with enthusiasm. Every game has seen them piss away leads or get behind< only to see them suck it up and show heart. Saints 5-0 without Brees< firing on all fronts and looking unstoppable. Perfect time for a a bit of a let down , perhaps? regardless of if they take it easy on the Cardinals, we see this game a bit closer than the extra credit the inflated Saints line is offering.

Event: (257) Seattle Seahawks at (258) Atlanta Falcons
Sport/League: NFL
Date/Time: October 27, 2019 1PM EDT
Play: Seattle Seahawks

Seattle 31 - ATLANTA 17—By the time you read this, Dan Quinn might have already walked the plank in Atlanta; if not before this Seattle game, next week’s bye provides another opportunity for Arthur Blank to hit the eject button before going back to his familiar chin-in-hand pose on the sideline. Not sure Quinn gets a mulligan even if Matt Ryan can’t go this week after injuring an ankle in latest humbling vs. Rams. With Falcs (1-6 SU and vs. line) a hot mess, and road teams a perfect 7-0 vs. line in Hawk games TY and Russell Wilson off of rare mistakes vs. Ravens, Seattle (3-0 away) an easy sell unless Pete Carroll shows unexpected compassion for his former defensive coordinator Quinn.

Event: 7519 Martin Truex Jr -130
Sport/League: MOT
Date/Time: October 27, 2019 3PM EDT
Play: 7519 Martin Truex Jr -130

Matchup listed at 5dimes:

Truex has ben spectacular on the short tracks this year. On the 5 races this year at Martinsville, Richmond (twice), and Dover (twice), Truex has won 3 of those races. His average finish is an insane 2.6 on this tracks. Keselowski has been good as well including a win, but he hasn’t been consistent and his average finish on the short tracks is 7th. The biggest reason for this play is that Brad was eliminated from the playoffs last week, which is a huge blow to him and that team. He has to be deflated, and what we tend to see is when guys get eliminated from the playoffs they don’t race the playoff cars very hard and they try and stay out of the way. I expect Truex to be racing for a win today with Brad falling back and staying out of the playoff action
