Neither the Kansas City Royals nor the Baltimore Orioles have much to play for at this stage of the season, but that has not stopped them from flexing their muscles at the plate in this series. They have combined for 28 runs while splitting the first two games, and I expect another high-scoring affair in the series finale on Sunday.
Baltimore righty Aaron Brooks (4-7, 5.79 ERA) is coming off six scoreless innings of two-hit ball at Washington, but he's still 2-4 with an ugly 6.44 ERA in 11 outings (seven starts) on the road this season. As for KC lefty Danny Duffy, he will make his first start since going on the IL since Aug. 6. Duffy was smacked around for nine runs in 4 2/3 innings at Minnesota last time out and note that over is 12-5 in Duffy's last 17 home starts. Additionally, Baltimore's relievers are dead last in the majors with a 5.92 ERA, and KC's is not much better (27th) with a 5.06 ERA.
Over is 3-0-1 in Orioles last 4 Sunday games. Over is 4-1 in Royals last 5 Sunday games. Over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings at Kauffman Stadium.

Spotlight college game for Sunday is Houston at Oklahoma, and for my money the total on this game is just a few points too high.
The natural reaction when you see the Sooners on the field is to look for the fireworks to ensue, but let's keep in mind that Oklahoma is in a bit of a transition period here early on, as they lost major talent on their offensive line, and they also lost last year's Heisman Trophy winner, Kyler Murray to the NFL. Yes, transfer Jalen Hurts is no slouch, but Hurts is more of a run-first, pass-second quarterback that head coach Lincoln Riley will have to mold over the course of the season.
Houston has a new head coach in Dana Holgorson who left his gig in West Virginia to start anew with the Cougars. Holgorson's calling card is high octane offense, and returning quarterback D'Eriq King knows how to put the pigskin in the end zone, but that has been factored into the equation when it comes to this total.
With a total this large, all it takes is one quarter where the points simply do not materialize and the Over becomes a long shot to reach. That is what I am counting on.
There will be points scored, but just not enough to take this one into the Over column.

The right-hander saw his streak of 142 consecutive batters faced without a walk end in his outing against the Mets on Tuesday, yet he still only allowed one run with seven strikeouts in an eight-inning win.
I like his chances in this one, as he'll outpitch Gonzalez, who took the loss against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday, when his Brewers faced an 8-0 deficit before their second turn at-bat. I know he has allowed just three total runs in three starts against the Cubs this year, but he's toeing the slab at Wrigley Field at the wrong time.

I'm not sure what has gotten into Los Angeles, but it suddenly has lost 6 of 10 and is hitting a bleak .234 while being outscored by eight runs. Quite a difference from a team with the best record in the National League and third-best record in the league.
I can't imagine the Dodgers squandering a 17-game lead in the National League West, but I can see Arizona catching everyone in the wild-card race, as it's currently 3 1/2 back of the pack.
Arizona has won 7 of 10, and it's getting things done with a balance of pitching and hitting. It won last night's game, 6-5, as Robbie Ray earned his 12th victory and Christian Walker went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for Arizona.
