FIESTA BOWL -- The Tigers have the No. 3 seed, but they're the best team in the nation right now. Defensive coordinator Brent Venables will dial up plenty of creative looks to confuse Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields, linebacker Isaiah Simmons will show the world how versatile his is by lining up on all three levels and Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence will play smart to lead his team to the title game.

PEACH BOWL -- Oklahoma has the most penalty yards in the nation and is 110th in turnover margin. That 13-game sample size should be very concerning against an LSU team that has quick-strike ability. Plus, the Tigers defense owned the line of scrimmage in the SEC Championship Game against the Georgia offensive line. It's going to be even better in the Peach Bowl against the Sooners. This one will get sideways late.

Analysis: Statistically the teams are close as ND was +1.6 yards per play margin while Iowa St was +1.4. The value comes with the fact Iowa St played a tougher schedule (No. 8 vs No. 40 in Sagarin’s SOS) and Iowa St lost 4 games by a combined 15 points this year. ND did fire their OC Chip Long after the regular season and it’s still unclear on who will be calling plays. Finally, ND head coach Brian Kelly is not a good bowl coach at 3-8 ATS including 0-4 ATS as a favorite.

COTTON BOWL -- Maybe It’s a plus for Memphis that coach Mike Norvell did not stick around after taking the Florida State job, given that he went 0-3 in bowls. But he puts successor Ryan Silverfield in a tough spot against more talented Penn State. The favorites allow just 14.1 points per game, seventh fewest in the nation, which should partly negate the Tigers’ potent offense. James Franklin stands at 5-3 ATS in bowls as coach of Penn State and Vanderbilt. Take the Nittany Lions.

COTTON BOWL -- The Over has gone 8-5 in Memphis games this season and is 25-14-1 in the last three seasons. So, obviously I'm an idiot, because I'm all over the Under here. Memphis isn't used to facing defenses and front sevens like the one it will see in Penn State. Plus, Mike Norvell is gone to Florida State. Then there's a Penn State team that has been inefficient on offense nearly all season long, and lost its offensive coordinator to Old Dominion.

It'll be up to the Nittany Lions edge and alley defenders to make plays consistently. I don't expect Penn State to sleepwalk into this matchup, as Memphis will treat it like a playoff game. CAMPING WORLD BOWL -- Coach Brian Kelly’s bowl record (3-8 ATS) at Notre Dame and a sense that Iowa State is more motivated have depressed this line. Yet the Fighting Irish rank 13th in scoring offense and 14th in scoring defense, a combination that points to clear superiority over the Cyclones. The Domers enter with momentum, having covered in four straight, while Iowa State flatlined late in its season. Most of Kelly’s ATS defeats came against ranked opponents; Iowa State cannot be found in the Top 25. Take Notre Dame.

CAMPING WORLD BOWL -- Notre Dame is riding a five-game winning streak and getting great play from its defense. QB Ian Book is playing well and the Fighting Irish look like a solid all around. I like how the Cyclones play defensively, and they'll be able to keep this one close, which is why the spread is low. However, I don't trust their offense to move the ball with consistency against Notre Dame, which explains why I'm going with the Irish.

If you look at Oklahoma and LSU statistically, the Sooners and Tigers are almost identical on both sides of the ball. But after LSU beat Alabama and blew out Georgia in the SEC title game, coupled with the Sooners going 1-5 ATS in their last six, we’ve got a rating shuffle that produces such a large number here. But I like the Sooners to make this a tight game with a good chance of winning. Joe Burrow has the traditional Heisman burden, while Jalen Hurts has been in this spot before. Oklahoma to win outright is a strong possibility, but I took the points.

LSU's improvement on defense has been greatly overlooked. The Tigers have allowed 17 points total over their past two games, and that defense will help this game get out of hand. My simulation projects LSU to win 52-32, so you're getting solid value with the Tigers at -13.5. Take LSU.

PEACH BOWL -- Welcome to the second-highest total since the birth of the College Football Playoffs. If this were a bowl with little at stake, an Over would be tempting. But games with lots on the line tend to include stretches during which an offense (or both) turns conservative. With the Big 12’s top defense, Oklahoma has shed its reputation as an offense-only program, and the Sooners enter with four straight Unders. LSU leans Under lately at neutral sites, having gone 5-2 before crowds with split allegiances. Under is the play.

PEACH BOWL -- There will be a lot made of the suspension of Oklahoma's Ronnie Perkins, as he's the team's best pass-rusher. I don't think it's a huge deal, though, because LSU's offense gets the ball out too quickly. While I expect LSU to win, Oklahoma's offense is too explosive to get blown out without multiple turnovers. Even after Alabama jumped out to a 28-0 lead on the Sooners in last year's semi, they battled back within 11. I don't think they ever fall that far behind in this one.

Clemson has gone 9-1 ATS in its last 10 bowl games, and quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been in a zone in his last six games after a sub-par start -- throwing 20 TD passes and no picks. ACC opposition or not, Lawrence is making big plays. But the wrong team is favored here and Ohio State has revenge on their minds after a 31-0 loss in 2016 playoffs. The Buckeyes are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 against winning teams. Buckeyes, and are the play here.

Fiesta Bowl -- These are two teams that are great at everything, but it's their defenses that have truly separated them from the pack. Because of that, I think the total for this game is a little too high. Clemson has been in four College Football Playoff semis already, and the Under has gone 4-0 in those games. The Under is also 4-1 in Ohio State's last five bowl games. This won't be a defensive slugfest, but I'm thinking it's more of a 31-30 game than a 41-38 contest.

Analysis:
Not a lot to say here but the facts are in. Clemson has the BEST Coach in this match-up. He has been to the Natty before (Often) and he knows the drill. His QB is absolutely the best, 20 TD's and ZERO Int's in the last 6 games. This is less than a field goal and even though I know that Ohio State is a very good team, Clemson is simply better. One of the key's in the Clemson offensive line which perhaps the best in the country at protecting the QB. If Lawrence has time this will be easy. If he does not his mobility will kick in. We su‘spect that he will have time and Clemson should outscore Ohio State even though we think the Buckeyes will have some success as well and because of that lean to the OVER. The Sooners have sent just as many players to the NFL in the last five years as LSU, so talent will not be an issue. And QB Jalen Hurts has been in the last three College Football Playoffs. Meanwhile Wright State will be the fastest team Green Bay has played this year, with its pace is in the top 25. They will also be without Nate Sestina, who made four in their last game. Sestina is a two-point loss. LSU has been a power house. There is not one team this year that has shut Joe Burrows down and I can’t see that changing today. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is questionable with a hamstring injury and he indeed would be a huge loss for the Tigers particularly in closing time when trying to end a game. Oklahoma has a few suspensions in this game with Ronnie Perkins being a big loss to this Sooners pass rush. The defense has improved this year bigtime, but they don’t force turnovers so winning this game will be tough. I do think this is a generous line for a Sooners team that has playoff experience against an LSU team that is brand new to this bowl playoff series process. I have watched LSU look lost on defense this year to mobile QB’s. Ole Miss and true freshman John Rhys Plumlee made them look silly. Jalen Hurts is an experienced senior QB that should do the same with his legs. Everybody is looking a Joe Burrow today, but Hurts is capable of stealing the show. I believe the winner has to get to 50 points today. This will be a fast paced game on a face paced indoor track with no weather or wind to worry about. Take Oklahoma and the Over.

Clemson -2.5 over Ohio State
Clemson has won 28 straight games and Trevor Lawrence has never lost a college football game. This team dominated the playoff stage last year and won the College Football Championship. What has changed so much to think they can’t do it again? Ohio State was great this year with a new coach and a new QB in Justin Fields. 40 touchdowns and only 1 INT. Are you kidding me!? This team is electric, but Clemson has been and always has been on another level and we are going to back them in a spot like this until they fall. Justin Fields is playing with a brace on his leg so it could be any play that he hurts himself again and Ohio State can’t compete. Clemson will tackle him hard and that knee of his is going to have to be flawless tonight. Clemson has the same offense as last year and I just can’t see them dominating again behind Dabo Swinney. Take Clemson

If I’m Ohio St that is a great motivation tool as HC Ryan Day can play the we aren’t getting any respect card. Ohio St has not done anything wrong other than have a game that was no where as close as final score against Penn St might indicate and was the game before Michigan. Then they bury MIchigan and although it was a come from behind win Ohio St did beat Wisconsin in the Big 10 Championship Game. Ohio St entered the Big 10 Championship all Fat n Sassy after beating Penn St and Michigan and let’s not forget they had already beat Wisconsin by 31 points during the regular season. Yes Ohio St was all Fat n Sassy in the Big 10 Championship Game but now they have had nearly a month to do nothing but focus on Clemson. Clemson plays in a weak conference as it was Clemson and then everyone else in the ACC. The Big 10 was a much tougher conference and I believe the wrong team is favored. My Numbers have OHIO ST winning 34-30 as my College Football Game of the Week.

CFB - Ohio StateEdges: Buckeyes: 15-2 ATS last seventeen games as an underdog, including 7-0 SUATS the last seven, and 16-0 SU all games under head coach Ryan Day, with every win by double-digits, and 17-1 SU versus fellow bowl teams the last two years, and undefeated Big Ten teams in bowl games are 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS since 1980, including 2-0 SUATS as a dog … Tigers: Undefeated bowl favorites coming off a win of 40-plus points are 1-4 SU and 0-5 ATS since 1980, and AP preseason No. 1 teams that are undefeated are 4-9 SU and 3-10 ATS in bowl games, including 1-6 SUATS when coming off a double-digit win … We cement the call with these three powerful angles from our well-oiled database: 1) college bowl teams that allow fewer than 15 PPG whose rushes for more YPG on the season than its opponents are 19-3 ATS when facing a foe off an ATS win of 4 or more points, including 8-0 SUATS if the better rushing team's net Yards Per Rush is 1.4 or greater on the season; and 2) College bowl teams who scored 56 or more points in their final game of the season and won the game by 38 or more points and did not beat the spread by more than 27 points are 4-21 ATS since 1980, including 0-7 ATS if they won 7 or more games during the regular season last year; and 3) undefeated bowl dogs coming off a spread loss of more than one-point who allow 15.0 or fewer points per game 6-0-1 SU and 7-0 ATS since 1980 … With that, look for the Buckeyes to avenge a 31-0 loss to Clemson here in the Fiesta Bowl in the 2016 CFB Playoff semifinal round.
