GATOR BOWL -- This game is essentially a pick 'em, which is a testament to how well these teams have played this season. Indiana has been consistent, while Tennessee came on strong down the stretch. Because of that, and how well they run the ball and play defense, I'm rolling with the Vols.

BIRMINGHAM BOWL -- At first glance this spread looks large, but B.C.'s defense has been subpar this year. The Bearcats' well-balanced attack will enable them to end on a high note after suffering back-to-back losses to Memphis. Lay the points.

BIRMINGHAM BOWL -- The Bearcats have had an excellent season and are looking for back-to-back 11-win seasons. Their only losses were to Ohio State on opening day and a couple narrow defeats to Memphis. The Eagles come into this one a mess, as they made a head-coaching change and will be missing their all-world running back. The Bearcats have a strong running game and a stout defense that will shut down B.C. Lay the points as B.C. falls to 2-8 ATS in its last 10 bowl games.

GATOR BOWL -- The battle of defenses in Jacksonville should be a Jan. 2 treat, and keep an extra special eye on the Volunteers. They gave up just 280.8 yards per game and 4.35 yards per play in November and are riding a five-game winning streak. The combination of a stifling defense and newfound confidence in quarterback Jarrett Guarantano will lead the Vols to the win. The fact that a field goal cashes makes this one easy money. Take Tennessee.

As a native Chicagoan I have spent my entire life watching Big Ten football, and I've learned a lot of lessons along the way. One such lesson has been that whenever there's a game between a mid-tier SEC team and a mid-tier Big Ten team, always take the SEC team no matter what.

The Jazz have been on an absolute tear lately, and while it's unfair to credit their recent success to the absence of Mike Conley, it would be hard to deny the impact it has had on their roster either. In their current six-game stretch with Conley sidelined, the Jazz are 5-1 and are outscoring opponents by a blistering 9.4 points per 100 possessions. Jordan Clarkson has provided more than enough secondary scoring off of the bench in Conley's absence, and both Donovan Mitchell and Joe Ingles have thrived in roles that allow for more ball dominance in the starting lineup. Keep riding the Jazz until Conley returns. You won't be sorry, especially against a banged-up Bulls team.

GATOR BOWL -- Momentum entering a bowl game can be overrated. But in a matchup that appears even in many respects, it must be considered. Tennessee’s lone straight-up loss in its last seven games came against Alabama. Indiana’s impressive season must be viewed in this context - the combined record of its victims was 25-71, with no foe winning more than five times. Uncertainty with injured key players - RB Steve Scott and G Simon Stepaniak - clouds the Hoosiers’ situation.

BIRMINGHAM BOWL -- Whenever a bowl line drifts above a touchdown, the underdog becomes tempting. Yet it's difficult to imagine a universe in which B.C. challenges, unless it maximizes the element of the unknown. The head coach, offensive coordinator and focal point of the run-oriented offense (RB A.J. Dillon) are gone. Even with the trio, the Eagles covered in only one of their last seven regular-season games. Cincinnati is trending poorly, too, but would be superior if B.C. were at full strength.
