Georgia could have downsized planes for the team flight to New Orleans. Thirteen players — so far — have been scratched for various reasons. That includes six starters and another half-dozen in the rotation. The Bulldogs have set themselves up for another Sugar Bowl bust, one year after falling to Texas following narrowly missing out on the playoffs. Baylor is 3-0 ATS as an underdog, and coach Matt Rhule should be focused after apparently fending off feelers for NFL jobs. The Bears seek their sixth straight cover.

MICHIGAN VS ALABAMA | 1/01 | 1:00 PM EST
9:10 AM
CITRUS BOWL -- Anticipate coaches Jim Harbaugh and Nick Saban calling a carefree game in a bowl matchup disappointing to both teams. If history is a guide, we might see points galore. Michigan has jumped the total in its last four bowls and Alabama in seven of its last eight. Quarterback Mac Jones has settled in as Tua Tagovailoa’s replacement; Bama has scored 38, 66 (albeit against Western Carolina) and 45 in his starts. Three of the Crimson Tide’s top NFL prospects who could have opted out are wideouts, while two who will skip play linebacker and cornerback.

OREGON VS WISCONSIN | 1/01 | 5:00 PM EST
11:23 AM
ROSE BOWL -- When last these teams met in the Rose Bowl eight years ago, 83 points were scored. Oregon was involved in a 79-point game three years later. Totals for the three subsequent bowls: 61, 101, 102. Something about the postcard setting brings out the best in offenses. The cornerstones of these units are Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor and Oregon QB Justin Hebert, both as good as it gets. The Badgers have gone Over in four of their last five outings, the Ducks five of their previous seven.

AUBURN -7
MINNESOTA VS AUBURN | 1/01 | 1:00 PM EST
11:21 AM
OUTBACK BOWL -- Auburn’s body of work this season is sneaky impressive: three losses to top 10 teams (AP poll) by a combined 21 points, capped by a win over Alabama. Minnesota’s was, too, but against a considerably easer schedule. The Gophers’ offense is all about big-play WRs Tyler Johnson and Rashod Bateman, but the Tigers limited foes to 5.9 yards per pass attempt, fifth-best in the FBS. NFL-bound DLs Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson elected to play for Auburn. Tigers QB Bo Nix no longer resembles the freshman that he is.

GEORGIA VS BAYLOR | 1/01 | 8:45 PM EST
SUGAR BOWL -- In my opinion, Georgia and Baylor are very similar, especially on defense. I like how aggressive they are on the perimeter and how their front seven swarm to the ball. This game ultimately will come down to offense, and while both teams have the ability to run the ball, I like Baylor's passing game just a bit more than Georgia's. That will be the difference in a very tight contest.

OREGON +3
OREGON VS WISCONSIN | 1/01 | 5:00 PM EST
ROSE BOWL -- I like the line-of-scrimmage matchup in this game. The Ducks have arguably the best OL in the country and will be going up against Wisconsin's tenacious defensive front. On the flip side, the athletic and lengthy DL of Oregon will have to show its down-to-down strength against the Badgers' OL and RB Jonathan Taylor. I totally understand why this line is a close one, but I like the Ducks on both sides of the ball and see them pulling off the win.

AUBURN -7
MINNESOTA VS AUBURN | 1/01 | 1:00 PM EST
OUTBACK BOWL -- The biggest question in this game will be if the Golden Gophers' interior OL can hold up against Auburn's defensive front. DT Derrick Brown plays like a man on fire and could find himself in Minnesota's backfield often. The Gophers have some playmakers on offense, but I don't know if the QB will have time to get them the ball often enough.

110-73-2 IN LAST 185 CFB ATS PICKS | +3035
5-4 IN LAST 9 AUBURN ATS PICKS | +63

ALABAMA -7
MICHIGAN VS ALABAMA | 1/01 | 1:00 PM EST
SUN 12/22
CITRUS BOWL -- I look forward to seeing a defensive struggle in this game, but the Crimson Tide has an advantage worth at least a touchdown on offense. Alabama has the most dynamic quartet of receivers in college football, and all will be playing in this game. The defensive matchup is a wash, so getting enough from the playmakers will be the difference.

110-73-2 IN LAST 185 CFB ATS PICKS | +3035

OVER 41.5
GEORGIA VS BAYLOR | 1/01 | 8:45 PM EST
SUN 12/29
SUGAR BOWL -- The Bulldogs will have a skeleton roster, but quarterback Jake Fromm and running back D'Andre Swift will still be on the bayou with chips on their shoulders. Baylor, like Texas last year, will pull out all of the stops to make a statement for the beleaguered Big 12 against one of the SEC's best teams. Expect both teams to get creative offensively and blaze past the total.

MINNESOTA +7
MINNESOTA VS AUBURN | 1/01 | 1:00 PM EST
SUN 12/29
OUTBACK BOWL -- The Tigers finished on a high note with the upset over Alabama, but the offense didn't have an awful lot to do with it. Minnesota's Tanner Morgan will have enough success to keep the Golden Gophers in it to the bitter end, and Tigers quarterback Bo Nix will make some poor decisions against a good secondary. The Tigers will win, but it'll be close.

56-31-2 IN LAST 89 CFB PICKS | +2174
ALABAMA -7
MICHIGAN VS ALABAMA | 1/01 | 1:00 PM EST
SUN 12/29
CITRUS BOWL -- There's a train of thought out there that this will be one of those games that features an un-motivated SEC team that really doesn't want to be there. I don't think that's the case. The buzz out of Tuscaloosa is that there are a lot of players on the roster who aren't only excited about playing the Wolverines, but are planning to come back instead of jumping to the NFL. Crimson Tide quarterback Mac Jones will have a field day against a Michigan defense that won't be up for the challenge.

GEORGIA VS BAYLOR | 1/01 | 8:45 PM EST
FRI 12/20
SUGAR BOWL -- The natural concern is that Georgia will come out flat after falling in the SEC Championship Game. I don't get that sense, though. D'Andre Swift will play in the game and will want to prove that this program can win at an elite level. On top of that, I expect the bowl practices to help this wide receiving corps become comfortable within the offense. I'll take the Bulldogs to cover in an ugly, low-scoring affair.

The Blazers need a win here after losing four straight games, three of which came at home. They're just 6-11 on the road but a respectable 3-4 ATS as road favorites. The last time they faced the Knicks, they beat them by 29 points at home. I think this game will be much closer, but Damian Lillard and Hassan Whiteside will help them cover.

OREGON +3
OREGON VS WISCONSIN | 1/01 | 5:00 PM EST
ROSE BOWL -- The Ducks have the edge at QB and think Justin Herbert will have a great game. He could be only the third QB in the last 100 years to lead the Ducks to a Rose Bowl win. The Ducks are pretty stout defensively, ranking 12th in the nation against the run in allowing just over 108 yards per game. They are sure to have their hands full with Wisconsin standout Jonathan Taylor. But the Badgers have dropped five straight ATS as a favorite. Take Oregon.

39-23 IN LAST 62 CFB PICKS | +1335
BAYLOR +4
GEORGIA VS BAYLOR | 1/01 | 8:45 PM EST
SUGAR BOWL -- I was leaning toward Baylor when this line was first posted but, now that Georgia is missing a host of starters, I like the Bears even more. The Bears offense averaged over 35 points per game so they should be able to attack this Georgia defense that was second in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just over 12.5 points per game.

39-23 IN LAST 62 CFB PICKS | +1335
3-0 IN LAST 3 BAYLOR ATS PICKS | +300

OVER 58
MICHIGAN VS ALABAMA | 1/01 | 1:00 PM EST
CITRUS BOWL -- The Wolverines defense is going to have a hard time matching up against the Alabama wideouts and I see the Tide making a lot of big plays. The Alabama defense has also struggled at times and given up some big plays. Michigan has seen the Over cash in eight straight versus the SEC,l while Alabama has seen the Over cash in seven of its last eight bowl games.

39-23 IN LAST 62 CFB PICKS | +1335
ALABAMA -7.5
MICHIGAN VS ALABAMA | 1/01 | 1:00 PM EST
CITRUS BOWL -- Expect Alabama's Nick Saban to outcoach Michigan's Jim Harbaugh here. Alabama is a better squad and Mac Jones has played well since taking over at QB. The Tide are 7-1 against the Big Ten since 2010. The Wolverines were crushed for the eighth straight time by Ohio State and don't see them being too confident coming into this matchup.

39-23 IN LAST 62 CFB PICKS | +1335

MILWAUKEE -18
MINNESOTA @ MILWAUKEE | 1/01 | 8:00 PM EST
11:31 AM
This spread is huge, as the oddsmakers are trying to scare us away from Milwaukee. But the Bucks come in on a 24-2 heater and they've dominated sub-.500 teams. In the last meeting, they destroyed Minnesota 134-106. The Timberwolves could be without a couple key starters and they're just clearly overmatched. Lay the points.

29-21 IN LAST 50 NBA PICKS | +602

L.A. LAKERS -11.5
PHOENIX @ L.A. LAKERS | 1/01 | 10:30 PM EST
11:27 AM
The Lakers won the first meeting by eight points in a high-scoring game in Phoenix, but tonight look for L.A. to run away with it. LeBron James looks healthy, and his team is deep. They'll explode against a Suns team that gives up just over 115 points per game. Lay it.

29-21 IN LAST 50 NBA PICKS | +602
4-3 IN LAST 7 LAL ATS PICKS | +72

UNDER 224
PORTLAND @ NEW YORK | 1/01 | 7:30 PM EST
11:26 AM
These two teams played two weeks ago and the Blazers won their seventh straight meeting, 115-87. The game produced 202 points. With last night being New Year's Eve and this being a home game for the Knicks, I don't see a lot of points being scored. Look for sloppy play and a lot of missed shots. The Under has cashed in seven of the last eight meetings.

29-21 IN LAST 50 NBA PICKS | +602

FRESNO ST. +12.5
FRESNO ST. @ SAN DIEGO ST | 1/01 | 3:00 PM EST
11:40 AM
The Aztecs are one of two undefeated teams left in the nation, but they will be tested here. They've dropped seven of the past nine meetings with Fresno State, including three straight at home. The Bulldogs are off to a horrible 4-9 start but will come to play today. They're 23-7 ATS in their last 30 games as a road dog. In this series, the road team has covered seven of the past eight.

UNDER 136.5
CONNECTICUT @ CINCINNATI | 1/01 | 7:00 PM EST
11:34 AM
The Bearcats have won seven straight in this series and are 25-2 at home vs AAC opponents since the '16-'17 season, but enter conference play having dropped three of their last four. This is the Huskies' first true road game of the season; they are playing well defensively, allowing just over 62 points per game. The Bearcats have struggled with their shooting, and I think both teams struggle here. In the last 10 times UConn has been an underdog, the Under has cashed nine times.

OUTBACK BOWL -- Last year, an underachieving Auburn club took out its frustrations on Purdue in their bowl game and the public will have this in mind as they hit the betting window Wednesday. This time, the motivation edge goes to the other side as Minnesota looks to finish on a positive note after coming up short of the Big Ten title game. It's hard to imagine Auburn giving full investment here after ending its regular season with a win over rival Alabama.

ROSE BOWL -- Oregon's underrated defense slowed down Utah's powerful attack and it should do the same against Wisconsin. The Dusk will be in good shape if they can limit Jonathan Taylor's explosive runs and force the Badgers into long down and distance. Moreover, Oregon's weapons -- including high draft pick Justin Herbert at QB -- aren't too dissimilar from that of Ohio State, which rolled to 32 unanswered points in the Big Ten title game. You could argue the wrong team is favored -- there's no arguing where the value lies.

CITRUS BOWL -- There's no bigger public fade than taking Michigan in this one on New Year's Day. William Hill reports 90 percent of the action is on Alabama as apparently bettors have no problem laying a touchdown-plus on a club that will have a ton of NFL-draft related absences and questionable motivation. Michigan has its flaws too, but also has more of a chance of wanting this game and can hang with the Crimson Tide if it comes in prepared.

Going back to last season they have rushed for over 100 yards in 14 of the past 16 games.

They have scored 28 or more points in 10 of their 12 games this season,

and 16 of the past 19 going back to last season.

Auburn is coming off a home win over their hated rival Alabama.

They are 0-7 ATS following a home win over a conference rival the past 3 seasons.

Samford heads into New Year’s Day on a poor stretch of three straight losses. Yet the Bulldogs faced far better competition than Southern conference opponent Citadel. Samford won two of three last season against the Citadel, including a 100-71 victory. Samford’s senior guards Josh Sharkey and Brandon Austin should continue to flourish against Citadel’s frenetic pace of play. Grab Samford.

Recent key suspensions from the Lobos in Carlton Bragg and JJ Caldwell have put a burden on the Lobos. A new starting five struggled Sunday with 21 turnovers against 5-10 UC Davis. That outing should have them prepped and ready for corrections. San Jose State just does not have the caliber of athletes to hang with the Lobos for forty minutes.
