JOHN CHANG

20 Dime - Hawaii Warriors -6

The home team is one that's shown some moxie over the last month. The Spartans have played stiff competition and impressed many by hanging tough in those games. Some believe that San Jose is lined up for an upset in this homecoming game. As nice as that sounds, they're facing a team that will most likely have its way with them. Besides the Stanford game at the beginning of the season, which was a romp over the Spartans, San Jose has yet to face an offense as potent as Hawaii's. The Rainbow Warriors hit hard through the air, and they certainly don't make it a secret. The Hawaii ground game got going in the last game, but I doubt they'll need much running in this one. Bryant Moniz is the top QB in the WAC, and now he's starting to hit his stride with his receiving corps. He'll face a set of corners for the Spartans who got smoked over and over again in the BYU game. Plus, San Jose is without their top corner for the season. Hawaii wideout Royce Pollard is someone we can expect to have a career day. Moniz and his offense are coming off of a bye week, and that means he and coach McMackin have had plenty of time to break down the San Jose defense. It might get ugly. On top of the aerial advantage, Hawaii's defense is a serious force as well. Before the bye week, this squad ranked 2nd in the nation in sacks, and they led the WAC in scoring defense and rushing defense. Rushing happens to be San Jose's strongest suit, but their top rusher doesn't look to be at 100 percent after nursing an ankle injury over the last week. Lots of factors leaning in favor of the visitors. Give me the Rainbow Warriors.
