As a loyal White Sox fan that lives and dies with this team, it pains me to say that it's officially time to label this season as a failure. There were some serious strides taken for 2010 with the impressive play of Gordon Beckham and the acquisitions of Jake Peavy and Alex Rios, but this team has absolutely no confidence. They were in a perfect position to gain some serious ground as the first place Tigers dropped 7 of their last 10 games, but Chicago gained only game in the standings thanks to a 2-4 mark on their West Coast road trip. And to make things worse, two of those losses came in the ninth inning or later.

The South Siders find themselves in yet another tough spot Friday after losing a 14-inning game last night that completely sucked the wind out of their sails. The Sox will have boarded a flight well after midnight and they won't hit the hay until the wee hours of the night. It'd be hard for any team to be excited about getting ready for a game the very next day, let alone a team that's pressed against the wall and fading fast in the division title race. I really believe the Sox come out dragging their feet tomorrow and not just because of the tired legs and the jetlag -- but because they know they're finished. Motivation is everything in baseball and right now Chicago lacks so much of it.

I believe we're in for a pitchers' duel tomorrow night with two solid pitchers in Mark Buehrle and Luke Hochevar squaring off. Starting with Buehrle, the southpaw has been lights out his last three starts, compiling a 1-1 record to go along with a 2.25 ERA over that span. And in three starts against the Royals in 2009, Buehrle is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA. Hochevar on the other hand has been rather hit-or-miss at times, but I like his odds against a depleted Chicago offense that seems to not give two shits about anything anymore. When he's on top of his game, the former No. 1 overall selection is lights out and the Sox saw a glimpse of that last August when he held them to three runs over seven innings.

These two offenses are in no way, shape or form known for their offensive prowess. In fact, Chicago and Kansas City rank 12th and 13th respectively in the American League (14 teams) in runs scored. The under in this series has cashed in 9 of 14 games this season and 5 of 6 at Comiskey Park. I expect a low scoring affair to the fullest and would be shocked to see more than eight runs scored.

Mr. East

NY YANKEES @ SEATTLE MARINERS
PLAY: 3 UNITS SEATTLE MARINERS

The Seattle Mariners Felix Hernandez is going to get a lot of Cy Young votes, as the maturing righthander has led the Mariners to 21 wins, and he stands at 15-5 on the season. Over his last 7 starts he has allowed 1 run in or less in 6 of them, while pitching to a 1.31 ERA. The Yankees are a team built for the big bombs, as they are a home run driven offense, the problem here is King Felix has allowed just 2 roundtrippers in his last 49 innings. AJ Burnett has really been struggling for the Yankees. He has a 7.67 ERA in his last 5 starts, and has allowed 8 HR's, and he has recorded just 1 win in his last 9 starts. I like the Mariners here.

4 years ago I would be all over Pat Hills team as a home dog..but off a loss last week where they blew a huge lead to a mediocre Wisconsin team, I have no faith in the once vaunted Bulldog defense against a well coach, highly polished Bronco attack on offense. Broncos defense allowing just 4 ppg! Already defeated Pac 10 so called power Oregon on blue carpet on national TV. Bosie clearly the best team in the WAC. 61-10 last year and have beaten the Bulldogs by an averagwe of 24 ppg the last 7 years....FSU has not made up 51 points worth of ground since last year.....I sniff a double digit win here by Boise. This really is their toughest game left..maybe Tulsa....but no doubt they will be focused.

Indian Cowboy

4 Unit Play.Take Under 10 between the Colorado Rockies @ Arizona Diamondbacks

The last time Marquis faced the Diamondbacks he got hit hard for six runs and a loss. With the Rockies up by just 4.5 games on the Braves and 3.5 games on the Giants, they need a quality start from Jason today. Keep in mind Jason had a rough start in his most recent effort giving up five runs in less than 6 innings in San Diego. We took an Under 10 in the last play that we did in Baltimore and it worked out very well for us and we do the same today. The situation in that game was that both pitchers were on bounce-backs and the same applies here. Baseball is all about motivation. The all-star can have a lay down start and a newbie or a person who got shelled in their last start can indeed look like an all-start the next time on the mound. Again, all about motivation. Mulvey looked brutal in his last start which has given him a nearly 12 era coming into today. However, I believe he will bounce-back from that start in Milwaukee. Mulvey starts at home for the first time and I like him to bounce-back and the Rockies are not familiar with him which plays into the advantage of the pitcher the first time through. If you are looking for a good dog today, I like San Fran on the road as Sanchez looks to bounce-back against the Dodgers who he just lost to and the Giants look to get revenge on Padilla who defeated them most recently. But, I didn't have the gonads to pull the trigger. Also, the Braves are on a roll having won their last 6 and Hudson is on the mound in a very important division game and they are worth a look at well.

When the Bulldogs play host to the Broncos in a key WAC showdown game at Bulldog Stadium in Fresno Friday night they will be playing with revenge from a 61-10 loss suffered last year at Boise - the worst loss in head coach Pat Hill's career. Aside from being 5-1 SU and ATS as a home dog off a loss in his career, Hill 14-3 ATS in his career as a dog of more than 4 points in Game Three or earlier in the season. The clincher, though, comes from our powerful database as it tells us to: Play Against any Game Three college conference road favorite (or pick) that is 2-0 SU and ATS if its opponent is seeking revenge. That's because these teams are 2-19 ATS since 1980. Stay at home and grab the points with the Bulldogs. We recommend a 3-unit play on Fresno State.

15 DIMER - LA ANGELS - It's Scott Kazmir time tonight.

He has owned the Rangers as evidenced by his 5-1 mark, with a 2.28 ERA in nine starts against Texas.

He is 1-1 with a 2.92 ERA versus Texas this season and although he is 0-1 in 3 starts since being traded to the Angels, his ERA is a very impressive 1.86. He is doing his part every time out so far.

His last start he allowed 2 earned against the White Sox but didn't get a decision in a 3-2 Angel win.

As for Tommy Hunter, he got the last Ranger victory on Sunday with a 6-hit complete game win over the Mariners but the Rangers haven't won since losing 4 in a row and scoring 1 run in their last 37 innings while doing so.

Their offensive slump comes at the wrong time against Kazmir and it's the Angels that keep it going against these slumping Rangers.

LA ANGELS - Kazmir over Hunter

5 DIMER - SEATTLE MARINERS - Felix the cat battles AJ Burnett tonight, and I like the cat.

The Yankees made the east coast-to-west coast trip, and it's always tough, but it doesn't get any easier having to face Hernandez right out of the box.

Hernandez comes in tonight making a late push for the AL Cy young coming off a 4-hit shutout over 7 innings of a 5-0 win over the Rangers pushing his current run to 2-0 with a 0.41 ERA his 3 September starts.

He is 15-5 with a 2.52 ERA looks like it will push Zack Greinke for those top pitching honors in the American League.

Burnett has been average at best on the road as his 6-6 mark with a 5.12 ERA will attest to.

He gave up six runs and seven hits including two bombs over 7 innings of a 7-3 loss to Baltimore dropping him to 1-5 with a 6.14 ERA since Aug. 1.

I am on Felix the cat tonight as he continues his run towards his first possible Cy Young award.

Mariners are the play.

SEATTLE MARINERS - Hernandez over Burnett

5 DIMER - BOISE STATE - What is the right side to this game tonight?

Is it Fresno, who is 1-6 SU and ATS last 7 meetings versus Boise with the only win being back in 2005 when Fresno was ranked # 20 and laying 9 1/2 they won 27-7 at home?

Or is it Boise State, who since 2004 has won the last 4 meetings by an average of just over 26 points a game and have covered 6 of their last 8 away from home?

To me it's very clear, Boise is the right side of this game.

In 2004, Boise was ranked 19th in the country laying 9 1/2 at home and won by 17. In '06, they were ranked #14 and won by 24. In '07, they were ranked 24th, and won by 13. And last year, ranked #9 in the country, they won by 51.

The bottom line is the lower the ranking the bigger the win and tonight Boise comes into this game ranked #9 in the country.

The gameplan for Boise State is simple. Stop the Fresno run attack and force junior Ryan Colburn to beat you with his arm, which last week was the reason Fresno lost as Colburn threw 3 picks including the dagger in the 2nd OT.

Fresno will probably play very competitive football in this game but as we have seen in years past, they are just incapable of error free football, and against a team like Boise State which will make you pay for those mistakes, Boise State is the right side of this game.

Lay the points in yet another double digit win for the Broncos.

BOISE STATE - Note: (if 7 1/2 buy half and lay -7)
