Dominic Fazzini

10 Dime -- Boise State

The Broncos and the Bulldogs have clearly been the class of the Western Athletic Conference in recent history, but when it comes to their head-to-head series, Boise State has been dominant. And I don't see that changing tonight.

The Broncos have won eight of nine games against Fresno State, and covered in seven of those eight wins. The favorite when these teams meet has covered seven straight times.

The Bulldogs are coming off of a crushing 34-31 loss in double overtime at Wisconsin in which they led 21-7. They did cover, however, as an 8-point underdog.

Boise State has been impressive with a season-opening 19-8 home win over Oregon, in which it was a 3 1/2-point favorite, and a 48-0 victory Saturday over Miami of Ohio as a 38 1/2-point home favorite.

Boise State has been tearing it up ATS against all opponents, going 5-0 overall, 5-1 on the road, 4-1 in September, 4-1-1 in WAC games, 10-3 in Friday night games and 43-20-1 when it covers in its previous game.

Fresno State, on the other hand, is 11-30 ATS overall, 5-16 at home, 3-9 in September, 6-20 in WAC games, 1-7 on Friday nights and 3-23 after a straight-up loss.

The Broncos are on a mission to earn a BCS bowl bid, and I think they should have no problem moving closer to that goal tonight. Take Boise State to cover the points.

Wunderdog

Boise State at Fresno State
4 units Fresno State +7.5

The Broncos have become a mainstay in BCS talk every season. This year's 2-0 start has them up to No. 10 in the rankings and the talk is again on. This team is definitely for real, but at what point does the hype start affecting their lines? Well, maybe a prime-time Friday game on ESPN, coming off a 48-0 win is that time. Fresno State was supposed to be in position to knock them off a year ago, but a poor start and injuries led to a disappointing season. For the second straight year they took on Wisconsin, this time on the road, and dropped a three-point decision. Fresno jumped out to a quick 21-7 lead midway through the second quarter, but couldn't hold on despite garnering more first downs, more total yards, and a seven-minute time of possession edge. Wisconsin played a perfect game and the difference was a 3-0 turnover battle held by the Badgers. It was the first road game of the year for Fresno, and I would expect the mistakes would be minimized coming back home as they won the stat game vs. Wisconsin. Boise State is in a spot that over the years has proven to be their most prone to a no cover. The Broncos, over the last seven years, have had trouble with the jitters in their first road game as they come in just 1-6 ATS. They are just 10-11 ATS as a road favorite the past five years. Add in the fact that Bowl teams off a perfect 2-0 straight-up and ATS start have only been able to catch the ATS win 29% of the time in game three. Pat Hill has coached Fresno to an 8-4 ATS mark as a home dog, and owns a 61% track record as a dog. Fresno was humiliated 61-7 a year ago and it's payback time! The public is jumping on the Broncos here to the tune of over 70% indicator to me that the right side is Fresno. I will go with the Bulldogs here.

GOLDEN CONTENDER

Washington at NY.Mets
Pick: Mets

The Mets come in on a five game losing streak. Tonight they get the cure for their losing streak. The Washington Nationals come into NewYork having lost 5 of 6 games here this season. The Nationals are 28-67 off a loss and 5-18 on Fridays this year. NewYork has been solid in the first game of a home series this year at 15-8,including 8-4 off a loss.

In the pitching match up the Mets have M.Pelfrey going tonight. He has been good in his 2 starts this year against Washington. In his home starts this year the Mets are 9-6 and he has a fine 3.06 era over his past three starts. Not bad for a team nearly 20 games under .500. The Nationals counter with J.D.Martin. In his only start vs the Mets he was hit hard allowing 5 runs in 4 innings. Look for the Mets to get the job done tonight. On Saturday we get ready for a Huge day. I have 2 college plays from a 28-4 system,a 5 unit side from a 90% system, with a 2-32 Power angle that plays against our opponent and a Blowout play that may be over at the half.. Take the Mets for 3 units tonight.

Fresno State is coming off a very tough road loss to the Wisconsin Badgers. A game they had until the end and should have won. They don"t get any time to lick their wounds, as the Boise State Broncos come calling. This is a huge conference opener for both teams and should determine who will eventually wind up as the WAC champion. Boise State has won this series over the years, but these games at Fresn are almost always close and determined late in the game. If the Bulldogs can keep the mistakes down . . . . . they could upset the Broncos here.

Bobby Maxwell

200-Unit WAC E-Z Winner - BOISE STATE

Boise State is on a mission to get back to a BCS bowl game and I don't see Fresno State getting in the way of that tonight. The Broncos are definitely the play, so go ahead and lay the chalk.

The Broncos opened the season with a 19-8 home win over the Pac-10's Oregon squad, cashing as a 3.5-point home favorite. Then on Saturday they killed Miami of Ohio 48-0 as a 38.5-point favorite. So they showed there was no letdown after beating the team from the bigger conference. There won't be a letdown all season for these kids. They are well coached and definitely focused on the bigger picture of getting to a BCS game.

Boise State has won three straight and eight of nine against Fresno State, covering in seven of the last eight matchups. The favorite is on a 7-0 ATS run in this series and look for Boise to make it eight straight when the final gun sounds on this one.

QB Kellen Moore is more than getting it done for the Broncos, throwing for 504 yards, five TDs and just one INT. He's managing the game much better this year and you can see that he is the leader of the offense. He's also got a very nice, young, speedy target at WR in Titus Young who had 114 yards receiving and two TDs against Miami on Saturday.

Fresno State lost a heartbreaker in Wisconsin on Saturday, falling 34-31 in double-overtime. The Bulldogs looked great in the first half, up 21-7 and getting three TD passes from QB Ryan Colburn. Then in the second half Colburn threw three INTs and they looked completely lost. Colburn is too much of a crap-shoot and has the ability to make the big play or the bone-head play.

Boise State is on ATS runs of 5-0 overall, 5-1 on the road, 4-1 in September and 4-1-1 in WAC action. Meanwhile Fresno is a disaster at the betting window, going 11-30 ATS overall, 5-16 ATS at home and 6-20 ATS in WAC games.

I love Boise in this one. Lay the chalk and play the Broncos on the road as this one ends up 35-24.

JIMMY BOYD

3* Friday Night MLB *Crunch Time Bailout* on Dodgers -138

The Dodgers have the definite edge on the hill tonight with Padilla going against Sanchez. Sanchez is 0-4 lifetime against LA with an ERA of 5.86 and a WHIP of 1.613 and the Giants are 0-6 in his last 6 starts vs. the Dodgers. Plus, the Giants are only 2-12 in his road starts this season and 4-17 in his last 21 road starts. One more strong factor going against him is that the Dodgers are at their best against lefty pitching, hitting .271 and scoring 5.1 runs per game against southpaw starters this season. The Dodgers are a perfect 4-0 in Padilla's starts since he joined the club, during which he has posted an ERA of just 2.01. The Giants are 10 games under .500 on the road while LA has been one of the best home teams in baseball all season. Take the Dodgers.

LA Angels Under 9 for 1.5 Units
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
The Angels' Scott Kazmir is in good form and should continue to do well against the Rangers; after all, he is 5-1 with a 2.28 ERA in 9 starts vs them. And the Rangers are currently in a run producing slump (1 run in last 37 innings). They're also 5-12-1 O/U in their last 18 at home vs lefties. The Angels, on the other hand, aren't currently aren't knocking the cover off the ball either. Texas' starter - Hunter pitches well at home and should go deep here. Hunter is 1-4 O/U in his last 5 as a home dog. The Angels are 0-7 O/U when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in previous game. "Under" the call.
