10* Anaheim / Boston Under 5.5

We'll have to lay some 'juice' to get 'under' 5.5 on this one. However, I feel that it will prove to be well worth it.

The Bruins have seen the UNDER go a very profitable 17-8-6 this season. That includes a 10-4-2 (71%) mark on home ice. Boston home games are averaging a mere 4.5 goals this season, with the Bruins outscoring opponents by a 2.7 to 1.8 margin.

Given those stats, its not surprising that most recent Bruin home games have had O/U lines of five, rather than 5.5. Their most recent game here was vs. the high-scoring Capitals and it did have an O/U line of 5.5. That extra half goal came in handy for 'under' bettors on that one, as it often does, as the final score finished at 3-2. Including that result, the UNDER is 5-1 the last six times that the Bruins have played a home game with a total of 5.5.

Of course, it helps that Boston's starting goalie (Tim Thomas) is currently the NHL leader in goals-against average (1.65) and save percentage (.944). With the Bruins having had yesterday off and with a few more days off after this, I'd be quite surprised if we didn't see Thomas here.

As for the Ducks, who score only 2.4 goals per road game, they've seen the UNDER go 10-7 (59%) when playing a road game with an O/U line of 5.5. That brings the UNDER go 50-40 their last 90 in that situation.

The Ducks did give up four goals last time out, a 4-2 loss at Carolina. That was a tough loss for 'under' bettors though, as the score was 3-1 with less than two minutes remaining. The Ducks scored a goal at the 18:12 mark and the Canes answered with an empty net goal with only five seconds remaining in the game. Either way, note that the UNDER is 8-4-1 the last 13 times that the Ducks allowed four or more goals in their previous game and 6-3 when they were off a loss by two or more goals.

Even with the result at Carolina, the UNDER is still a profitable 7-3 in Anaheim's last 10 games against Eastern Conference opponents. I expect those stats to improve here.

Lenny Del Genio

Minnesota +4.5

Two bad teams face off tonight in Staples Center. However, after a pair of rough starts, both squads have actually improved recently. The Clippers actually won BB road games, including an outright win at Chicago on Saturday. LA has not won three straight games all season. In fact, they went 0-3 SU during a recent three-game homestand. For Minnesota, this is the conclusion of a tough six-game road swing. They have been playing tough, covering the last three games. They treated us well Friday night, losing by only five at Portland and then followed that up by staying even closer at Denver the following night despite the lack of rest. They are now 29-13 ATS if playing for the 4th straight time on the road. Then you have the fact that they beat the Clippers earlier TY at the Target Center 113-111. Los Angeles is a hideous 1-11 ATS when seeking revenge for a loss by three points or less. The Twolves have covered four straight times at Staples Center when playing the Clippers. Minnesota is our 15* West Conf Dog of the Week.
