O C Dooley

2 Units Cowboys -3.5

It may come as a shock to some but this evening marks the first time this campaign that the Giants have faced a “divisional” opponent. While the big news this evening surrounds the fact that Dallas (1-4) is attempting to save their season, it should be noted that the Giants actually self-destructed in a National-TV Sunday evening game earlier this campaign in what was dubbed the “Manning Bowl”. Even though the Cowboys have put themselves in a very deep hole with the straight-up loss at Minnesota last week, Dallas actually WON the statistical battle (314-188) by a wide margin which makes me think they are finally ready to thrive. Dallas is similar to San Diego in that they are ranked in the “top five” both offensively and defensively, but have repeatedly shot themselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties (10 in the “red zone” alone). I will admit that the Chargers in front of their home fans failed to save their campaign yesterday against a quality opponent, but that was NOT a “divisional” setup like this evening. Certainly Dallas has plenty of incentive as they were beaten on the field twice by the Giants a year ago. It goes without saying that Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips has been receiving most of the blame by national prognosticators, but the fact of the matter is that the veteran head coach has been through this before in Buffalo when he turned an 0-3 start into a “double digit” victory campaign. It was just one year ago when San Diego reeled off 11 consecutive victories, so there is no way that the Pokes 2010 campaign is finished. Not only were the Giants pummeled in a National-TV meltdown at Indianapolis earlier (38-14 final), New York when playing on the ROAD traditionally has struggled on Monday Night Football (12-23). According to the oddsmakers this evening’s game should be close, so it is time to open up the critical subject of SPECIAL TEAMS. Not only has Giants punter Matt Dodge mishandled several snaps and been inconsistent, kicker Lawrence Tynes (ankle) is NOT 100% healthy. Turning to the database here is a whopping “24-4” SYSTEM (86% past decade) which plays ON horrible home teams like Dallas who have failed to cover the spread 4 times in a five-game span, when facing an opponent who has a winning record. Dallas has COVERED SIX IN A ROW AT HOME when shaking off consecutive outright defeats. I will wrap up this analysis with a mind boggling database angle this is exclusive to this special day of the week. Monday Night home teams that have won 12-or-more the previous season are on a serious 13-1 SU/ATS roll which makes America’s Team an incredible percentage wager tonight
