The Cowboys host the Panthers at Jerry's Palace under the Monday Night lights in a matchup of both teams looking to enter the win column off disappointing performances last week. The first hurdle Dallas has to get over is the fact they are 0-6 ATS at home after facing the Giants. They are also 0-6 ATS in their last six Monday Night appearances at home, losing four of the six games in straight-up fashion. Enter the Panthers, who are 2-0 SU and ATS on Mondays in games off back-to-back losses in their franchise career. Under head coach John Fox, Carolina is 15-6 ATS as a dog of six or more points, including 11-2 with revenge and 5-0 with revenge during the first half of the season. The clincher is the fact that 0-2 teams in Game Three of the season who won 11 or more games last season are 8-2-1 ATS as dogs, including 4-0 SU and ATS when taking four or more points. Grab the points with the Panthers. We recommend a 3-unit play on Carolina.

One of the biggest reasons for this selection was the Week 3 game between the NY Giants and Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers defense looked absolutely horrible against a very banged up Giants defense, despite moving the ball up and down the field against Dallas in week one. The Cowboys was routinely gashed last week against the Giants as well. New York racked up well over 400 yards of offense against them. Carolina’s quarterback Jake Delhomme is under tremendous pressure to perform after his team couldn’t get the win last week against Atlanta. He did throw for 308 yards against the Falcons though, and I expect him to come out with something to prove in this game as well. The Panthers should be able to run against Dallas as well, which will make things easier for Delhomme. However, Carolina’s defense is still a mess, as Atlanta was able to rack up 28 points against them last week. This week they have the tough task of facing one of the best offenses in football. In addition, Tony Romo has faced great criticism over the last week after the loss to the Giants. He is still a very good quarterback with plenty of weapons around him. Carolina gave up 151 yards on the ground last week to Atlanta, and I expect Dallas to have similar success. Meanwhile, Carolina’s offense will also be motivated to come out and have a good showing. I lean toward Dallas covering in this game, but I feel that the over is the best selection. The reason is that the game will go over the total with a Dallas blowout or a close game. The Cowboys will no doubt rack up points in this game, but I’m not sure how much the Panthers will keep up. Look for Dallas to score 30 points or more, while Carolina will have around 20 points or more.FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM

Angle #3: John Fox vs. Wade Philips. Who will have their team better prepared for this Monday Night Football game in front of millions of fans across the world watching this game. Plus, the fact this game is being played in Dallas, puts way more pressure on Romo and Phillips to get the ball in the end zone, or hear the wrath of their players. Delhomme just needs to find a way not to lose this game and keep his turnovers down to a minimum. Take the points.

For a number of different reasons I feel we're getting great value on the Panthers in this matchup: Carolina is desperate for a win after starting the season 0-2...Dallas, at 1-1, and coming off a heartbreaking last minute loss to the Giants last Sunday night, are also in desperation mode-however I believe that Carolina has enough advantages in this matchup going for it, to warrant a play of this magnitude. Carolina (0-2) won the NFC South last season with a 12-4 record but is in danger of opening with three consecutive losses for the first time since dropping a franchise-worst seven in a row to start the 1998 season. To say that Julius Peppers and Jake Delhomme need to step up their level of play would be an understatement of massive proportions; Delhomme threw four INT's and lost a fumble in a 38-10 loss to Philadelphia in Week 1, but played much better against the Falcons. He threw for 308 yards and a TD, but his INT with 2 1/2 minutes remaining near the Atlanta end zone with his team down eight ended the comeback bid. Tony Romo was horrible last week and I look for this overrated and over-hyped "super-star" to once again struggle on the national stage; he completed 13 of 29 passes for 127 yards with a TD and three INT's, all of which resulted in New York TD's last week. Of large concern for Cowboys backers this week; Dallas could be without one of the team’s top playmakers this week with Marion Barber recovering from a quadriceps injury. Big D has been horrible on the defensive side of the ball this year as well; over the first two games its allowed 877 yards, third-worst in the NFL. The Cowboys have also been unable to put pressure on the QB, owning the only defense that has yet to force a turnover or record a sack. It must be noted that Dallas is just 2-4 SU/ATS its last six overall and 1-3 ATS over the last two seasons off a loss against a division rival while Carolina is 4-1 ATS over the last two seasons off a loss against a division rival. Head Coach John Fox knows his team needs to be better on the defensive side of the ball, has been preaching it all week to his team, and I expect it "answer the call" this week; in absolute desperation mode to salvage their season, and when taking into account all of these other factors, and the large spread they're being afforded, I must recommend a 10* Bookiekiller selection on the Panthers!
