Troy -2
The 2010 College Bowl season kicks off Saturday when the Trojans take on the Bobcats in a sure-to-be cavernous setting at the Superdome in New Orleans. Larry Blakeney's men of Troy have made Bourbon Street its home away from home during the holidays with this game marking it's 3rd appearance in this bowl game over the last five years. Meanwhile, Frank Solich's troops find themselves down in the dumps after blowing an opportunity to capture the MAC East Division title when they gagged as road chalk at Kent State in its season finale. The task at hand will be getting his troops back up in hopes of winning a bowl game for the first time in school history (0-4), one that won't be easy given Solich's 5-15 SU mark in games off a loss when facing .400 or greater opposition. On the other side of the coin, the Trojans closed out the campaign with strong momentum, winning and covering each of its final two games to post its fifth consecutive winning season. Furthermore, these two teams have squared off against two common opponents this year, with OU losing the stats in both games (-91 yards) and Troy winning they yards in each contest (+267 yards). The clincher comes from our powerful database as it tells us to: Play Against any bowl favorite or dog of less than three points that scored less than seven points in its final game of the season versus an opponent off a win or loss of less than 34 points. That's because these teams are 0-15-1 ATS in this role since 1980. All things considered, we'll bank on the experience factor here today. We recommend a 3-unit play on Troy.

6* Detroit +1
For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on Detroit:
The Titans are 5-4-1 ATS on the year; on the 11th they beat Eastern Michigan 68-65 in OT, unable to cover as 5 1/2-point favorites.
Detroit is already 3-0 ATS this year when playing the roll of underdog.
It's also 3-1 ATS this year on the road; over the last 2-seasons its 17-16 ATS in the same position.
On the other side of the court: The Chippewas are 3-6 ATS to start the year; on the 14th they got hammered 53-49 by Wright State on their home floor, falling at 1 1/2-point dogs.
Central Michigan is 0-3 ATS this year when playing the roll of favorite.
It's also already 0-2 ATS this year after scoring 60-points or less and is just 9-12 ATS over the last 2-seasons in the same position.
Bottom line: It's also significant to point out that Central Michigan is in fact just 1-7 SU its last 8 vs. the Titans.
Ray McCallum scored 31 points, including 9 in OT, to lead Detroit to a 68-65 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday and I expect this team to build off that victory.
Wright State dominated the Chippewas in their last lost, with a 37-19 board advantage, and a 30-10 edge in points in the paint.
The Raiders also outshot the Chippewas 50.0% (19 of 38) to 34.0% (16 of 47).
