West Virginia vs. Auburn
Play: Auburn -6.5
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Third straight week we are playing on the Tigers as we maintain our conviction that 1st year HC Gene Chizik has a very undervalued team coming off a disappointing 2008 campaign, and the talent has yet to be reflected in the oddsmakers’ lines. The public has caught on driving the number up early in the week, but we maintain the home side is still the play after watching them win by 24 and 25 as 13.5 and then 15.5 point chalk the last two weeks against overmatched, inferior competition. This is their first chance to show the world that Auburn is truly back. They have been running the ball very well so far with more than 300 yards total on the ground in each game as both RB’s Tate and McCalebb have produced a pair of 100+ yd efforts. QB Todd has yet to throw an interception (knocking on wood). This is a huge revenge spot for Auburn against a WVU team they led 17-10 at the half in Morgantown last year, but gave up 24 unanswered to in the second half. The change in venue matters BIG TIME as Mountaineers HC Bill Stewart has yet to be a road underdog during his tenure, and in fact this will be the 1st time WVU is getting points in any regular season game since a 44-34 loss at Louisville back in 2006 in what was a huge Big East battle of unbeaten teams. Therefore, the situation and expectations are both unfamiliar to Stewart, who has really yet to prove to us he is even an adequate College coach at this level. Auburn is our 20* CFB Primetime Bailout .

Al DeMarco

10 Dime - Arkansas

Third straight tough game for Georgia as the Bulldogs opened with a loss at Oklahoma State and then hung on for a 41-37 triumph at home last Saturday against South Carolina. Conversely, Arkansas has been laying in wait since whacking Arkansas State 48-10 two Saturday's ago, a game which featured 591 total yards of offense, 309 from new quarterback - and Michigan transfer - Ryan Mallet, who completed 17-of-22 passes. More importantly, last year's 1000-yard rusher, Michael Smith, wasn't needed as he carried the ball just four times for 43 yards in the rout.

The 'Dawgs were unable to come up with key stops in the second half of their loss at Oklahoma State, and they struggled once more on D against Steve Spurrier's Gamecocks, yielding 427 yards. The pass rush was virtually non-existent as they sacked South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia (313 yards) only twice despite his 53 pass attempts. And the unit was on the field almost all night as SC ran 30 more plays than Georgia.

On offense, minus the since departed Knowshon Moreno, the Bulldogs have struggled running the ball, totaling 202 yards (3.4 ypc) in two games, putting more pressure on quarterback Joe Cox, who has passed for only 363 yards in two games with 3 TDs vs. 2 INTs.

This is a huge stepping stone game for Bobby Petrino's crew, who took the first step back to respectability with last year's late-season upset of LSU. The public has jumped on them mildly, elevating the price slightly, but they remain a solid investment opportunity against a Georgia squad with some holes defensively.

Speculating Sports

Cincinnati at Oregon State
Selection: CINCINNATI -1

Cincinnati's offense proved just how explosive they can be in their dominant road win at Rutgers. The Bearcats return almost every starter back on offense this season. That offense improved throughout last season, and quarterback Tony Pike is in full control of the passing game. The Bearcats also have NFL caliber players throughout that group as well. It looked as though Cincinnati's weakness this year would be the defense, but head coach Brian Kelly is one of the most under-rated coaches in college football. He puts his defense in great situations to succeed, and he has recruited great talent on that side of the ball. Oregon State's offense isn't very good, as they struggled to move the ball in both games this season, despite playing weaker competition. The Beavers must be able to the run the ball in order to score points. However, Cincinnati has traditionally had a very good rush defense. Oregon State begins conference play next week at home against Arizona, so I don't look for them to be motivated at all to play this game. Look for an upstart Cincinnati team to come in and throttle Oregon State.

INDIAN COWBOY

4 Unit Play. Take Under 8.5 Florida Marlins @ Cincinnati Reds

Ricky Nolasco comes off a tough start against the Cardinals and I expect him to bounce-back today. Ricky gave up seven runs to the Cardinals on the road and the Marlins fell short 6-11 on the road. Nolasco had pitched three straight quality starts prior to his last start. Given the Marlins chase for the playoffs as they are inching closer to the wild card, I expect Nolasco to bounce-back well today. Speaking of pitchers who have bounced-back well, Bronson is having one hecukva second half of the season. He has put together more than 10 straight quality starts and has brought his era down to 4.07. Bronson looks like the pitcher of old and although many of us thought it was a fluke or a phase, Arroyo has continued to pitch well and stay focused. The Marlins come off winning 4-3 yesterday so I expect Bronson to have a decent start as he has done for the past two months and I expect Nolasco to bounce-back in the same token. The Under is 4-1 when the Marlins are Underdogs of late and the Under is 6-0-2 for Arroyo as favorites by this margin.

Dave Busk

3 Unit Pick Take Over (9) Cleveland at Oakland

This is the third game of this third game series with the first two staying under. The A’s send Gio Gonzalez to the hill, Gonzalez has struggled with a 1-4 record and a 7.55 era in his last six starts and while Jeremy Sowers who is pitching for a spot in the rotation in 2009 has been pitching good he faces a A’s lineup that is hot averaging 5.8 runs a game and batting .308 over their last 12 games. With this game in the daytime and the wind blowing with a over umpire with Mike Everitt who averages over ten runs game I think we will get there today.

2 Unit Pick Take the New York Mets (-1.05) over Washington

Washington starter John Lannan has pitched two complete games vs. the Mets at this season but has struggled in New York with a with 0-2 record and a 6.75 era in four road starts. Lannan has struggled over the last five starts winning for the first time in his last outing but still has given up 19 runs over his last 25 innings. The Mets send former National Tim Redding to try and snap the Mets six game losing streak. He had one start vs. his former this year going 6 innings giving up one run on 6 hits. I like the Mets small here today
