After losing the first two games in this series, the Rays beat the A’s last night 5-4 rallying from two runs down and scoring three runs in the eight. Today, Tampa looks to get a split when they send out Garza. The A’s saw their four game winning streak snapped and they send out Braden in this afternoon matchup. Garza is coming off a seven inning shutout performance over the Rangers in which he struck out 10 hitters. However, that’s not a good sign for Garza as he has an awful 2-12 TSR after not allowing a run in his last performance. The Rays are also a slight road favorite in this game, another bad situation for Garza as his TSR record as an away chalk is a poor 4-13. Braden has been very consistent all season for the A’s posting a sharp 3.44 ERA and in his last three outings sports a 2.45 ERA and impressive 0.818 WHIP. In head-to-head competition Garza has pitched only once out here in Oakland and he struggled going only 5 2/3 innings allowing four earned runs. Braden has faced these Rays twice this season and the one outing here in Oakland he pitched his perfect game! The A’s love playing day games as they are 29-12 this season in afternoon affairs and we think they’ll get another one this afternoon behind Braden.

Forget the Brett Favre show, it means nothing in this game. If anything it hurts the Vikes with all the distractions and his lack of any practice or playing time, and remember, he is 40 years old. If you look at QB rotations and offensive output, then look no further than there 2, both are deep at QB and in week 1 both offenses were sharp as a tack and both scored a ton of points, the Niners just destroyed the Colts and the Vikes had their way against the Rams with 28 points. More of the same tonight. Even third stringer Nate Davis for the Niner has looked great in the preseason at QB. Play 1 Unit on the Over tonight.

Now that future Hall of Fame QB Brett Favre is back in camp the Vikings figure to make a concerted effort from this point forward in their drive to a Super Bowl title in 2010. Tonight's contest couldn't set up any better as our powerful database points out the fact the NFL Game Two preseason favorites off a SU and ATS win as a favorite in Game One are just 2-21 ATS if they score more than 24 points in the win and today's foe is also playing its 2nd preseason game. Better yet, if today's favorite was a favorite of two or more points in last week's victory they dip to 0-19 ATS in this role in all qualifying games from 1983-2009. Couple that with the fact that NFL preseason home favorites off a win of 20 or more points in which they covered the spread by 22 or fewer points are just 8-26 ATS, we'll look for the Vikes to improve to 8-2 ATS as preseason puppies under head coach Brad Childress here tonight. We recommend a 2-unit play on Minnesota.
