I really see this game coming down to defense. Denver has a lot of offensive issues going on, which is never good when facing a very solid Steelers defense. Pittsburgh has three solid quarterbacks who probably will all see some action in tonight's game. Look for a low-scoring result with Pittsburgh sneaking by in a tune-up game, before the real action starts in two weeks! Take the Steelers.
San Diego Padres +106
Cole Hamels has pitched well for the Phillies, but his team has not given him any run support. Clayton Richards has pitched just as well this year, but has been awesome in his last 3 starts. The Padres will avoid the sweep today. Look for another low-scoring game as well. Take San Diego.

Padres are 14-4 at home against lefties. They stand 10-3 in Game 3 if off of a loss. San Diego has not lost 4 in a row this season. Richard has been hot of late with a great 1.45 ERA in his past 4 outings. The Padres hit close to .300 at home vs southpaws. Nice value with this price.

Red Sox at Rays
Pick: Red Sox
James Shields is 2-7 in his last nine games against the Red Sox in his career, Lackey is 8-2 in his last 10 starts against the Devil Rays. Lackey showcased a strong eight innings in his last outing against the Mariners by allowing just two earned runs, six hits, while sitting down 10 batters. If I look at their numbers Lackey has been working his way much faster out of innings compared to Shields. Also Shields has allowed 29 home runs compared to 14 for Lackey. The Red Sox are 10-4 in thier last 14 games as a road dog, the Devil Rays are just 2-6 in Shields last 8 starts as a home favorite. Take the Red Sox to play spoiler tonight in Tampa Bay.

15 DIME BOSTON RED SOX
The biggest difference between Boston’s John Lackey and Tampa Bay’s James Shields is this: Lackey has pitched 169 2/3 innings and given up 14 home runs, including just one in three starts (16 2/3 innings) against Tampa Bay. Shields has worked 164 2/3 innings this year but he’s suraendered 29 long balls – that’s right, 15 more HRs than Lackey has allowed in five FEWER innings!
That’s important because Boston ranks second to Toronto in team home runs, including taking Shields deep three times in three games. Tampa Bay is just 2-7 in Shields’ last nine starts against the Red Sox, including three games this year in which Shields has allowed 11 runs in 19 2/3 innings (5.03 ERA). The Rays one the first of those three 6-5 in Boston, but lost the last two 2-0 and 8-5.
Conveersely, Lackey got roughed up in his first start against the Rays this year (eight runs in 3 1/3 innings of an 8-2 home loss). But since then, the veteran right-hander has faced Tampa twice and yielded a combined three runs in 13 1/3 innings, winning 11-3 and 8-5. Going back to his days with the Angels, Lackey is 7-2 in his last nine starts against the Rays, and in those seven wins he allowed just nine earned runs in 51 2/3 innings (1.92 ERA).
Boston’s offense has been ravaged by injuries this season – All-Stars Predroia and Youkilis are out for the season, as is starting CF Jacoby Ellsbury – but the Red Sox cortinue to battle. Despite a heartbreaking 3-2 walk-off last night, they’re still 5-2 in their last seven games and they’ve won 20 of 32 since July 26.
