300♦ PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Last week I talked about the Giants and how it would easily dismantle the Raiders; this week it'll be the Eagles swarming JaMarcus Russell, and taking full advantage of a team that is going through the motions right now.
Anyone who saw Philly blitz Buccaneers quarterback Josh Johnson on 60 percent of the Eagles' defensive snaps last week, has to know defensive coordinator Sean McDermott will bring the same intensity against Russell, who was sacked six times and lost three fumbles against the Giants last Sunday.
Philly has found a knack for taking the ball away, as it is second in the league in takeaways with a dozen; the Raiders, meanwhile, rank third in giveaways with 12. And seven of those 12 giveaways have been committed by Russell, who has shown me no skill under center.
Honestly, hs is as inept as it comes, in terms of reading coverages and he's terrible in protecting the ball while he's sitting in the pocket looking for receivers.
On defense, the Raiders won't have what it takes against Donovan McNabb, DeSean Jackson and rookie Jeremy Maclin. McNabb got his feet wet last week, getting back under center and finding his groove. Now he'll be able to run and pass the ball as if this were a scrimmage.
Let's be real, the Raiders are likely more focused on Monday and Tuesday, rather than on this game. They don't want to face another fierce defensive foe - the Eagles rank fourth against the pass and third overall - and will they're likely more interested in whether or not Napa district attorney Gary Lieberstein will make a decision about Randy Hanson's claim that he was assaulted by Tom Cable.
On Tuesday, it's the NFL trade deadline, and much of this team could be looking to get shipped out.
Philly is relatively healthy all around, and the Raiders are in such disarray, I wouldn't be surprised if they're kept out of the end zone.
Lay the road chalk.
