Solving Toronto starter Ricky Romero won't be easy tonight, but with the "total" in such modest territory, we are compelled to look "over" also because of recent struggles by A's starter Trevor Cahill, with a 6.75 ERA in three starts this month. Neither team should be judged on their first preseason game. Neither team is as good as they looked at this point of the year, but the teams they both played are indeed that bad. This game all comes down to one fact - which is the Patriots starters are better than the Bucs starters and the backups are much better than the Bucs backups. It really is that simple. This is preseason, so sure anything can happen, as coaches are evaluating individuals more than team performance. Some coaches will call a play on third down so they get to kick a field goal or test out a new punter. With that all being said, the Patriots players are more talented so we will go with them. Take New England.
Pittsburgh Steelers -3
The Eagles have some offensive line issues, especially on the right side and I cant see Andy Reid keeping Vick in that long or trying to really win this game with players blocking for him that could get him hurt. Preseason is all about staying healthy. Philadelphia has never done well against 3-4 type defenses and I like the Steelers' backups a lot better than I do the Eagles. Pittsburgh is a tough place to play preseason or regular season. Take Pittsburgh.
Texas Rangers +129
This will be a nice pitching matchup between a good Colby Lewis and a great Jered Weaver. The problem for Weaver is that his team never gives him any run support. It's tough to ask a pitcher this late in the year to keep teams to a run or two especially when you are playing a hot hitting team that can put up multiple runs on any given inning. Look for this to be a good game, but in a close one we will take the better offense.
