Tony George

Colts / Bills Under 34

Both teams were lit up defensively in their first game and both teams, especially the Colts has offensive concerns with injuries that will keep their highly skilled stars out of the lineup and I doubt Peyton Manning sees more than 15 snaps tonight. Stress in BOTH camps all week has been defense, and my sources very close to Buffalo say with extra prep, they have worked very hard on defense to all players and this one should be low scoring. I like a 14-10 type ballgame here, very vanilla on offense and close to the vest on defense. That is the game plan for both teams tonight, if they execute that it should be an easy cover here. Play 1 Unit on the under.

Oakland / Tampa Under 7

Trevor Cahill is underrated as a great pitcher and his ERA is off the charts at 0.38 his last 3 games, and his WHIP is 0.82 which is just unreal. The guy can pitch his ass off and should give Tampa all they want. He is 5-0 on unders in his last 5 starts. Conversely Tampa has Sonnacstine on the hill with a respectable 4.10 ERA against a team that has issues at the plate scoring right now batting just .203 against right handers their last 10 games. These 2 teams played a 2 games series in May which Oakland swept and both games went under the total. 3-2 type ballgame here, I love the under. Play 1 Unit on the under.

Vince Akins

Rays at A's
Pick: A's

The contrast in pitchers in this game is stark, as Trevor Cahill has been great both this season and recently while Andy Sonnanstine is in his third outing of the year, and has been unable to get through the sixth inning so far. We’ll take the strong starter at home on this cheap price.

Sonnanstine is 1-1 on the season and is lucky that the bullpen has gone six and two-thirds scoreless innings in his starts. However the bullpen has not been as good recently, five runs the past two games. The Rays are 0-12 since July 10, 2008 when Andy Sonnanstine starts on the road when the bullpen has allowed at least one run for two straight games for a net profit of $1250 when playing against.

Sonanstine particularly was not good last season starting as a dog. The Rays are 0-6 since May 27, 2009 when Andy Sonnanstine starts as a dog for a net profit of $600 when playing against.

Cahill lost his last start, 2-0, despite working seven, one run innings. The Athletics are 7-0 since August 16, 2009 when Trevor Cahill starts after his team lost the last time he started for a net profit of $820. Also, the Athletics are 7-0 since June 06, 2009 when Trevor Cahill starts after his team scored a total of fewer than three runs in his last start for a net profit of $780.

Cahill allowed six hits and no home runs in that game. The Athletics are 7-0 since June 11, 2009 when Trevor Cahill starts as a favorite after going at least 6 innings and giving up no home runs for a net profit of $700.

Tampa Bay won yesterday, 8-6, over Texas and it could have been even more if not for 19 left on base individually. The Rays are 0-7 since June 16, 2010 on the road after a win in which they left 18+ men on base for a net profit of $745 when playing against.

Tampa Bay jumped out to a 5-1 lead in that game and never trailed. The Rays are 1-7 since May 21, 2010 on the road when they are off a win in which they never trailed for a net profit of $755 when playing against.

The Duke's Sports

LA Dodgers (-140) 2.5 Units

Good spot for the Dodgers to grab a win here; after all, the Rockies have been consistently inconsistent coming off wins over their last 15 games. And Jorge De La Rosa, who sports a 4.58 ERA over his last 3 starts, controls an 0-8 team mark with a bloated 6.56 ERA in 7 starts and 1 relief appearance vs Los Angeles. And he won't have the Rockies' best hitter (Carlos Gonzalez - bruised knee) in the lineup to give added run support. We'll look for Ted Lilly, who has been in great form since acquired by Dodgers, to win his 4th straight team start. The Rockies' lineup is batting a meager .206 vs lefties this month; over the same time span, the Dodgers are batting a healthy .333 vs lefties. We'll look for them to jump on De La Rosa and give Lilly enough run support to overcome the shaky relief that the Dodgers are currently experiencing.

Buffalo Bills -3.5

We all know that the Colts never care about preseason football, but I think there is more to that then them just not wanting to win. The truth is that the Colts are not a very good football team without Peyton Manning. Without Manning in the lineup, the defending AFC Champions would not win a single game. Buffalo was destroyed last week and we obviously know how their season is going to go. This is a very important game for Buffalo. Forget the fact that they are really thin at wide receiver and running back.

This game is being played in Toronto and the Bills will now be playing a few regular season games in Canada over the next few years. The NFL first and foremost is a business. Teams have to sell tickets. This preseason game, which doesnt count for anything, means a whole lot for Buffalo and the NFL. What a better way to sell interest and some tickets for the regular season then to have the Bills beat the AFC Champs. Canadians don't care that it is preseason football, they just want to see the Bills win. Lookout for C.J. Spiller to showcase his talents tonight to the world how good he really is. Take Buffalo.

Atlanta Falcons -2.5

The Patriots will have to be careful with this game, as Atlanta is an artificial turf dome.. Brady hurt his finger last week (not serious) but why take a chance at playing him with the potential to get banged up even more? The Falcons have a lot of offensive weapons and, at home on turf in the preseason, have a huge advantage. New England just recently placed two veterans on injured reserved and can't afford to get any other valuable personnel hurt. Take the Falcons in an easy home win.

Tampa Bay Rays +118

The Rays have been on fire in the last week and are historically a good road team. Trevor Cahill has pitched great for Oakland but will have to face Andy Sonnanstine who is a slightly better and fresher hurler. Cahill has pitched a lot of innings this year and might start to fade a bit down the stretch. Look for the Rays to out muscle the A's on offense behind a better outing from their starting pitcher. Take Tampa Bay.

Cincinnati Kid

NE Patriots +2

Patriots and Falcons both entering Week 2 off SU ATS wins in their home openers squaring off on prime-time TV tonight! Patriots qualify as a Playoff virgin - making the playoffs this past year - while viewing as a spectator at the end of the 2008 season. P Virgin's are 28-8 during the 2000 decade away vs. .500 or better foes. These clubs improve to 14-4 facing that .500 club off a SUATS win and 12-1 installed as favs 3 or less or taking points as dogs.
