Dr Bob

3* Arizona -7½

2* UC Davis +1½

2* Central Florida -10½

Opinion

Villanova -5½

Villanova applies to a very good 52-13-1 ATS home momentum situation and a solid 103-52-5 ATS non-conference home revenge situation, but the Wildcats haven’t played as well against good competition this season and that will keep me from making this a Best Bet. I’ll lean with Nova at -6 or less.

Temple is 9-2 with losses to Cal and Texas A&M (on neutral courts). The Owls own a "signature" win over Georgetown (Hoyas 1st loss of the season) and enter this game on a six-game winning streak (5-1 ATS). Veteran guards Moore (14.9-4.4) and Fernandez (9.8-3.9 APG) are an excellent duo and the 6-9 Allen (10.2-6.8) is surrounded by a solid supporting cast inside. The group includes the 6-6 Randall (8.5-5.1), the 6-11 Eric (7.5-5.5) and the 6-6 Jefferson (7.1-5.5). As always, the Owls play excellent 'D' (58.1 PPG) but the team shoots poorly from three-point range (27.0%) and from the FT line (63.4%). Revenge is on the minds of Jay Wright's Villanova team in this "Big Five" matchup, as the Wildcats lost by 10 points to the Owls last year. 'Nova's 10-1 this year, losing only to Tennessee, a game which Villanova 'shot itself out of.' A team which is connecting on 45% (31.5% on threes) on the year, made just 34.5% (4-of-21 on threes) vs the Vols. Temple owns a veteran backcourt but Villanova counters with the veteran duo of Stokes (15.7-4.1) and Fisher (15.5-4.9 APG) plus sophomores Wayns (12.4-4.8 APG) and Cheek (7.5-4.5). Advantage; 'Nova! The 6-8 Pena (10.2-7.5) has developed into a solid interior player and is joined this year by two players of excellent size and decent abilities. The 6-10 Yarou (8.8-8.1) has made major improvements and the 6-11 Sutton (4.3-3.2) has been steady. These "Big Five" games still mean a lot to these Philadelphia-area schools and REVENGE matters in this one. Lay it with Villanova!
