Miami is coming off a huge Labor Day win over in-state rival FSU on the road in Tallahassee and now face conference opponent Georgia Tech on Thursday night at LandShark Stadium.
Hurricane QB Jacory Harris had a solid effort versus the Noles going 21 of 34 for 386 yards and two touchdowns. In that contest they had 476 yards of offense while their defense allowed 109 yards rushing.
They will be facing a Tech rushing attack that ran over them last season in Atlanta rushing for 472 yards at 8.4 yards per carry. The Canes defense has that imprinted on their brains and they will be ready for Tech tonight in South Florida.
Georgia Tech played last Thursday at home versus Clemson and raced out to a 24 to 0 lead but then gave up 27 unanswered points to Clemson and needed two late fourth-quarter TD’s to get the 30 to 27 victory. The Clemson passing attack gave the Tech defense trouble throwing for 261 yards and had 386 yards of total offense in the loss.
Georgia Tech has won the last four in this series but that will change tonight as the Canes get the SU and ATS win. Miami is 24-2 SU after facing the Seminoles and 8-4-1 ATS when playing at home. Tech struggles in Thursday night road games posting a record of 0-5 ATS their last five.
Miami qualifies in one of our CFB Systems that tells us In Game 2, play ON a conference home favorite of more than 4 points with less than 15 days rest versus an opponent off an ATS loss in its last contest and are playing at least their third game of the season. These home favorites are 10-0-1 ATS and average covering the spread by more than 13 points per game.
With the Canes seeking some serious revenge for a beat down they suffered at the hands of this Tech team in Atlanta last season we will lay the short price here as the Canes roll past the Jackets on Thursday night in South Florida.

For a number of different reasons I feel we're getting excellent value on the home-side: Last week Georgia Tech (2-0, 1-0) moved up one spot in the poll with last Thursday’s 30-27 win over Clemson of the Atlantic Division, and Miami (1-0, 1-0) jumped into the Top 25 following its 38-34 victory over then-No. 18 Florida State on Sept. 7. Although they did pull out the victory last week, Georgia Tech blew a 24-point lead against the Tigers before Scott Blair’s 36-yard field goal with 57 seconds remaining sealed the victory and I expect a similar lapse of concentration in this game and look for the Hurricanes to take advantage. This is a spot that the Yellow Jackets have struggled in over the past three seasons, going a disappointing 2-5 ATS after two or more consecutive straight-up wins and 6-8 ATS when playing with six days or less rest. Miami is now in the same position it was entering last season’s game against Georgia Tech; the Hurricanes jumped into the poll immediately before playing the Yellow Jackets and trailed by as much as 31 in their 41-23 loss in Atlanta. The defeat kept the Hurricanes out of the ACC championship game and I expect them to play with added motivation in this one because of that loss. Dating back to last season Miami is 6-3 SU its last nine overall and 14-6 SU its last 20 at home and I look for it to once again play tough in front of the hometown crowd and to move to a perfect 2-0 ATS this season against conference opponents; play on the HURRICANES!
