The Halos are a huge money-making 10-3 as an underdog of +150 or more the past two seasons, with all but one of those games coming on the road, but that’s not even the half of it. The team is a perfect 10-0 since the start of the ’08 season after a game where they had 17 or more hits. They are 12-2 off a game where the bullpen blew a save this season. They are 18-5 off BB losses and 16-6 playing with double revenge. After a loss by two runs or less, they are 41-19 the last two seasons and are 29-12 this year one game removed from scoring eight or more runs. Yes, they draw Josh Beckett, off his first decent showing in a month, but note that Beckett went only five innings (rain-shortened game) in that win over Tampa Bay and owns a weak 7-12 team start record after allowing one earned run or less in his previous start. Beckett has had major problems with the home run ball and as you know the Angels can hit the cover off the ball. Since the All-Star Break, he has an ERA of 4.65, which isn’t inspiring. Also, since beating LA in Game 1 of the 2007 ALDS, Beckett has gone 0-3 with a 7.03 ERA in four starts against them (all Boston losses). The Angels are +$815 vs. righties overall this season. Starter Ervin Santana has been much more solid in the second half than his numbers would seem to indicate as he finally seems to be recovered from his earlier injuries. In his last three starts, his ERA is 3.37. LA Angels are our MLB Revenge Game of the Month.

Georgia Tech at Miami
Pick: Miami

Im sticking with the Canes at home since the Yellow Jackets are 0-5 ATS in Thursday night road games. The Cane's also come off a labor day victory vs. FSU, so they are comming off a bye week with plenty of time to prepare for the Triple option. The Cane's have turned the Tide as they are feeling ood about themselves and know they have to win these early games as the schedule is difficult. GT offens eis getting alot of hype but really didn't produce too much last Thursday vs Clemson, look for the Canes to shut down the rushing attack.

Georgia Tech is showing solid value against the spread Thursday. The Yellow Jackets' are the proven team in this match-up, going 4-0 SU & 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings with Miami. The Jackets also return a lot of experience from last year's 9-4 SU & 8-3 ATS squad. They have 10 offensive starters back and 8 on defense to boot. Leading the way are QB Josh Nesbitt and RB Jonathan Dwyer. The two were a huge part of their 41-23 victory over the Hurricanes in 2008 in which the Jackets rushed for 472 yards. Miami is going to be improved this season, but so is Georgia Tech with so much returning talent. The Hurricanes are 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite of 3.5-10.0 and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games as a home favorite of 3.5-10.0. Miami has not been good in this spot for a long time, while Georgia Tech enters this game on a 6-1 ATS road tear. Take the Yellow Jackets.

DR BOB

#14 Georgia Tech vs. #20 MIAMI FLA (-5.5)

Lean Georgia Tech

Miami Florida 28 Georgia Tech 27

Miami has had some time to come down from the high of their thrilling 38-34 win at Florida State on opening week and the Hurricanes' sophomore quarterback Jacory Harris looks like he's made huge strides as a passer based on his 21 for 34 for 386 yards performance in that win. Harris could post some good number tonight too against a questionable Georgia Tech secondary that was lit up in the 2nd half of their narrow 30-27 win over Clemson last Thursday night. However, Georgia Tech's offense looks very good and has averaged 7.3 yards per play in two games, including 6.7 yppl against a good Clemson stop unit. Miami's defense allowed 404 yards at 5.7 yppl to a Florida State attack that isn't much better than average. My ratings favor Miami by just 1 point and Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson's teams are 34-13 ATS away from home in his career (4-2 with G Tech) while Randy Shannon is only 1-7 ATS as a home favorite of more than 3 points. I'll lean with the Yellow Jackets plus the points in this game

Triple Threat Sports Guaranteed Selections

1* Georgia Tech (+) over Miami (Fla)

We call these teams almost exactly even in our Power Ratings, with GT actually being a little bit ahead all in all. That alone makes the points worth a nice look here, and when looking at Miami's record as home chalk for Shannon (3-9 ATS) as compared to Ga Tech's 12-4-1 ATS mark as an away dog and Coach Johnson's 14-3 ATS mark as an away dog here and at Navy, and the choice is clear to us. Give us the better team and the points that also happens to have lots of tech edges, as the Yellow Jackets sting here.
