This looks like a flat spot for the Lakers. Despite opening the season at 3-0 SU, Kobe Bryant is clearly not 100% and it showed during the preseason with him averaging only 11 PPG and shooting 27% from the floor. While the Grizzlies have never had much luck beating the Lakers (14-42 SU, 5-23 SU on the road), they do have a habit of playing them tough. Last year, they beat LA at home and lost to them by just one at home. Memphis is wildly underrated; you just don't hear much about them playing in the tough Southwest Division. After losing to Atlanta in the season opener, they've rallied for two straight wins, including an upset of Dallas. In a 20-pt win over Minnesota, they had a franchise record 22 steals. Memphis went 16-8 ATS last year when coming off BB wins. Lakers are 9-16 ATS after allowing 85 points or less in their previous game. Take Memphis.

MTSU quarterback Dwight Dasher had a rough start once he returned to the line-up. He had to face Troy in they have already had a few games under their belt, then he had to face Georgia Tech in his next game. However, Dasher is coming off of his best game by far last week with a win over UL Monroe. Statistically, MTSU has the much better defense in this game, and they have better athletes overall. Arkansas State has one of the worst defenses in college football meanwhile. They have a potent passing game, but MTSU's defense is fairly decent. Arkansas State is trying to create buzz around this game, but there is little to no home field advantage in the Sun Belt. I look for Dasher to have a big game and for the Raiders defense to play fairly well. Look for MTSU to get the win on the road.
