Derek Mancini

10 Dime NJ Nets

The line on this contest makes absolutely no sense. The Hawks got killed by Boston last night, losing 99-76. And it's also no secret that Atlanta has owned the Nets in their last 4 meetings, winning by an average of 23 points. So given those facts, a LARGE majority of the public is expecting Atlanta to bounce back strong tonight in New Jersey. However, the line is telling us something completely different.

Line is fishy because the public is willing to lay whatever with the Hawks in this match up, yet it's only at -3? The only reason they would release such a short line is if they wanted you to bet Atlanta. Pretty safe to say, betting the team that oddsmakers want you to bet is almost never a good idea.

So why the Nets in this spot? Situationally this is as good a spot as they're going to get. Returning home, having not played since Saturday, against a team in turmoil, that's playing without rest. No question the Nets will be the better prepared/better rested team in this contest. New Jersey may not be a great team, but they've covered 6 of their L9, and with a huge edge in rest, I'd expect one of their better efforts tonight.

Finally, with Joe Johnson struggling, you give the edge in the backcourt to the Nets. Morrow and Harris are both rock-solid, and fully capable of matching up with Atlanta. Then of course, there's Brook Lopez, who is big enough and athletic enough to match up with Horford. Josh Smith and Marvin Williams may be more talented than their counterparts on the Nets, but one has to wonder will they show up to play (you saw how poorly they played against Boston)? Underestimate New Jersey at your own loss. Nets plus the points over Hawks Tuesday.

The Duke's Sports

Temple Under (45) for 1.5 Units

Temple/Mia OH 7:00: Both of these teams are dealing with injuries to key offensive personnel. Temple's potent backfield of Brown and Pierce are hobbling into this one off a physical battle vs Ohio last week. And Miami Ohio's backup QB Boucher, who managed the game well at winless Akron last week, will face his toughest test against the conference's best pass defense. The Redhawks' run game is sputtering at 2.7 yards per carry and shouldn't keep the Owls' from bringing pass blitzes routinely on the inexperienced Boucher, who's filling in for Dysert (spleen). Miami Ohio's defense has been respectable at home this season, and they've nutted up over their last three games allowing just 15 ppg. Temple has had trouble under Golden in the last road game of the season and should experience offensive woes tonight. Miami Ohio is on an 0-6 O/U run and sports an 8-17 O/U mark off an ATS loss. The Owls, which are on a 3-7 O/U run, are 1-4 O/U in their last 5 road games. Decent value with the "under" here.

Bill Marzano

Temple at Miami OH
Pick: Temple -7

I really like Temple in this game vs Miami Ohio...this is a pretty big game for both teams with a lot of different scenarios...the bottom line is I think Temple is a much better overall team and I expect this team to rebound after a poor performance in their last game...Miami has some of their own problems beginning at the QB position...I like Temple to get it done here

Bob Balfe

Michigan State -6

Michigan State is one of the front runners to win the title this year, as they are always well coached and solid. UCONN is another well-coached team. However, they do not have enough fire power to hang around with State on the road tonight. Take Michigan State.

Indiana Pacers -4

Indiana is coming off of a big win on the road in Miami. This Pacers team has a lot of talent behind Danny Granger and should beat a Cleveland team that does not have a lot of skill or advantage at any position. Look for the Pacers pace (no pun intended) to be too much for the Cavs tonight. Take Indiana.
