South Alabama is truly an awful team that is totally ignoring their coach. They lost by almost 40 points at Southern Mississippi and followed that up with an overtime win against a Central Michigan team coming off of a long trip to Hawaii. The Chippewas are not good, and the Jaguars still didn't have balanced scoring against them, relying on Tim Williams for 40% of their scoring. UAB is one of the best, if not the best, team in Conference USA. They have a dominant home court advantage, and UAB hammered South Alabama last year. The Blazers are coming off of a close road loss at Arizona State in their last game, so I expect them to take out their frustrations on South Alabama.

Second ranked Michigan State has yet to play up to expectations this year, as they only beat South Carolina 82-73 last week and then last night needed a 20-3 second half run just to beat Division II Chaminade (tournament host). That's fine by us as we can now grab some value tonight as we fully expect a more focused effort from HC Tom Izzo's crew against UConn. These teams met in the 2009 Final Four with MSU winning 82-73 in the National Semifinals. UConn wasn't exactly world beaters last night either, failing to cover against Wichita State. While the Spartans are national title contenders, the Huskies are little more than a 'one and done' type unit and by beating their first three opponents by 15 PPG, they've driven the line down. Note Michigan State, who has not 'lived up to expectations' has a very similar avg MOV. This is obviously far from HC Calhoun's most talented team as UConn has just three scholarship upperclassmen. Michigan St is our Maui Invitational Play of the Day.
