Orlando is also off a win and playing better, close to .500 with a sharp defense that allowed 94.2 ppg (6th). They are also 8th in the league in rebounding and 6th in assists. Southern Illinois is a much improved team over the one that finished 8-23 last season and that is reflected by the fact the Salukis were a miserable 2-11 on the road last year and come into this game 3-2 in their “away” games. This is not to suggest Southern Illinois is an outstanding basketball team but merely to point out it is playing well and at a much higher performance profile than is UC-Davis. UC-Davis has beaten only Eastern Washington (2-8) and Sacramento State (6-3) this season and simply seems up against it tonight.

FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Knicks and Bulls square off for the second time this season and New York seeks revenge as well as tries to extend its lead in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls might have something to say about that though. The Knicks won their last game, a home win over Brooklyn and they have taken it to their new neighbors the last two meetings. That moved New York to 11-1 at home and 19-6 overall to remain a game ahead of Miami for top position in the Eastern Conference. Being a public team already, this great start to the season has only added to the public love and we are seeing some significant line overadjustments. This is a another case of it as the Knicks were favored by six points against Brooklyn which has a worse record than Chicago and is in the midst of a 2-8 run but they are favored by a larger number here. After starting 8-1 against the spread, New York is just 7-9 ATS in its last 16 games. The Bulls meanwhile have been playing very well as they are 8-3 over their last 11 games with those three losses coming by an average of 6.0 ppg. As a matter of fact, Chicago has been competitive in the majority of its losses, losing only one by double-digits and the other nine coming by an average of 5.6 ppg. The absence of Derrick Rose is still felt but the Bulls make up for it with solid defense as they are allowing 90.3 ppg on 42.4 percent shooting, both of which are second best in the NBA. New York is actually getting outshot on the season 45 percent to 45.7 percent. That obviously is not a big variance but any negative variance is irregular for a team that has such a solid record. Neither team has been great against the number following a win but we give the edge to Chicago as it is 6-4 ATS on the road and is catching a very generous number in this situation.

After emptying its tanks in eventual 64-53 midweek loss vs. Michigan State at its Stroh Center, not sure what sort of effort Louis Orr’s BGSU can muster in Tampa. USF is suddenly making a nice fortress out of the Sun Dome, with three straight DD wins over competent opposition. Stan Heath’s no-nonsense defenders will be on lookout for potential breakout Falcon star Chauncey Orr (Louis’ son), who scored 16 on Tuesday vs. Tom Izzo’s Spartans. The Bulls’ “bullish” 6-8, 243-lb. F Toarlyn Fitzpatrick (12.3 ppg) is providing a tough matchup with his ability to float to the perimeter, where he’s draining 45% of his triples.

We also want to play on road dogs with rest that scored 90 or more as a home favorite of 5 or more and shot 45% or less, vs an opponent like Toronto that scored 90 or more as a home favorite of 4 or less and shot 45% or higher. These road teams have cashed over 80% of the time. Both teams have won 4 straight. Orlando has revenge from an earlier 97-86 loss and has covered 9 of 12 on the road and all 3 off a division game. FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Central Florida is better than Ball State. It's not a landslide by any means, but man for man and on the numbers, the Knights win this game. But if there's one major handicapping factor in the bowls, especially the lesser events, it's motivation, and for this game, it appears to be all Ball State. They're excited, and Head Coach Pete Lembo has made no secret of how important he feels this game is for his program. The Cardinals apparently have a pretty good base of alums in this area, and Lembo has made mention of this bowl location being huge for his recruiting goals. Ball State has never won a bowl game, so they're going to be ready tonight. The downside is twofold. The Cardinals are a lousy defensive team, and especially so vs. the run. Also, QB Wenning is playing, but he's probably not real healthy. Wenning missed most of the practices with his ankle in a walking boot, and if he can't operate, there could be a problem. But more than playing on Ball State, this is a side against UCF. They have sold a mere 4100 tickets for a bowl that's virtually in their back yard. The fan base is decidedly unexcited about the opponent, and no one likes the idea of going to watch a game at dumpy Tropicana. In addition, UCF is off a brutal OT loss in the CUSA title game, and that's not a plus heading into this game. On paper, this is a pass all the way, as my number is the same as the betting line. But I'm taking my shot with what I believe is the more interested squad, so Ball State plus the points gets a play from me tonight.

WSU is just 7-4 but other than a loss at Pepperdine looks good. They almost knocked off Gonzaga earlier this month and 6’10 Australian import Brock Motum is looking better and better each game out. The Bulls have only one player who can look him in the eye and not enough on the perimeter to really challenge. The Cougars are shooting 31.5 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulls held the Knicks to just 32.1% shooting in the first matchup. New York relies on perimeter scoring, which can be an issue against good defensive teams like the Bulls. Wunderdog
Chicago at New York
Pick: Under 187.5
The Chicago Bulls have been good on the defensive end for the past few years. This year they have had to increase their focus and intensity while they await the return of Derrick Rose. That has led them to holding 14 opponents to under 90 points already on the season. That includes six of their last seven opponents with a winning record. Within that mix was this New York team, who they held to 85 points in their last meeting. It seems that the better the competition, the slower the pace and better the defense is for Chicago. Overall they are 35-16 to the UNDER in their last 51 games, and that includes a perfect 7-0 to the UNDER on rested legs of two day’s rest. The Knicks like to run, but haven't had a lot of success in doing so vs. the Bulls, resulting in 7 of the last 10 meetings falling short of the total. Play on the UNDER.
