1) The Maple Leafs are winless on the season but they did everything they could to change that on Saturday as they outplayed the Canucks in Vancouver. It still ended up being a loss even though Toronto generated a lot of scoring chances. That's because they were up against a red-hot goalie, Roberto Luongo.
2) Unlike facing Luongo on Saturday, the Leafs face struggling Ducks goaltending on Monday! Jonas Hiller has been struggling for Anaheim this season but he could be forced to start here as #1 goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere has a nagging groin problem that forced him out of Saturday's game.
3) The Maple Leafs general manager is Brian Burke who helped lead Anaheim to their Stanley Cup title in 2007. There is no game that Burke would rather have as his first win this season than this game. The Leafs and GM Burke are going to give it their all as they try to upend his former team, the Ducks, in Anaheim.
4) Even though Toronto will give a strong effort here, the concern for them is that their own goaltending has been a major issue. Vesa Toskala was struggling badly and then got hurt. Newcomer Jonas Gustavsson also is hurt. Joey MacDonald has struggled in his three starts and lost them all.
5) The Maple Leafs have been awful on the penalty kill this season and they're facing a Ducks power play unit that went a perfect 2 for 2 in Saturday's game. The Leafs have allowed 10 goals in their last two visits to Anaheim and another high-scoring game is likely on Monday night.
