Just when you thought it was safe to bet on UNLV, the bubble bursts.

The Rebels will be outmatched up in Colorado Springs today.

I know the Rebs looked good against Colorado State last week on the outskirts of Las Vegas, at Sam Boyd Stadium; but this is Air Force, one of the quiet powers out West that keeps on winning and keeps on getting to the postseason.

The triple-option attack is nothing UNLV wants a part of, just think how bad the Rebels were against Nevada's rushing game. Air Force is dangerous at the line of scrimmage, as the Falcons block well, they block low and they block effectively. And when you win the battle in the trenches, your method of using that option attack and multi-back formations eventually will put points on the board.

Air Force ranks fourth out of 120 football programs in rushing offense with 264 yards per game. That won't be good for UNLV's rushing defense, which ranks 111th in the country against the rush.

So how do we cover this big point spread you ask? Well, Air Force is seventh in the nation in total defense, and its bread and butter is against the pass, which stymies UNLV's vertical game. Air Force has only allowed one opponent to score more than 20 points this season.

I'm banking on a big win here, as the Falcons should be able to produce a 34-13 win today.

West Virginia probably should’ve had the outright victory against Cincinnati, but a cover will have to suffice. I delivered that winner last night and I’m delivering another College Football winner today as I’m giving you Pitt at home against visiting Notre Dame.

The Irish come into this game absolutely reeling after last week’s embarrassing 23-21 outright loss at home against Navy where Notre Dame was installed as a 12 point favorite.

Including that loss and non-cover, the Irish have gone just 1-7 ATS their last 8 games and have failed to cover in 3 straight games. Though they’ve only played twice on the road this year, the Irish have failed to cover in either.

Now they battle a Pittsburgh team that’s covered in 3 straight games and is riding a 5-game SU winning streak.

For the year Pitt has covered in 6 of its 8 games and is 3-1 ATS at home.

Consider, too, Pitt has gone 2-1 SU and ATS the last 3 meetings between these two, including last year’s 36-33 overtime victory on the road in South Bend.

Pitt won’t need overtime this year as the Panthers cruise to an easy win over the Irish.

Notre Dame +7 at Pittsburgh

With last week's stunning home loss, Notre Dame has been deemed a dissapointment again on the field straight-up and they have cost bettors who have invested in them (2-7 ATS) a fortune. But I for one was not completely stunned when Navy went into South Bend a week ago and pulled off the upset as the Midshipmen for decades had come up short against the Irish and are now finally turning the tide so to speak. After being upset themselves the week before as a touchdown favorite at home, Navy was in position to at the very least be competitive. One could argue that with their latest setback, some of the pressure has been taken off Notre Dame's collective backs as they are now officially off the BCS Bowl radar and can get down to business. Even though they are one of the few schools that are guaranteed to be on National-TV every week, this is a rare shot in PRIMETIME for the Fighting Irish to prove their worth against a quality opponent. With Pittsburgh having a shot to gain an automatic BCS Bowl berth via the Big East Conference, we have seen some line inflation this evening as the Panthers actually opened as a 6 point choice. There is no question that Pittsburgh is a legitimate contender as they have one of the nation's most improved quarterbacks (Bill Stull) while running back Dion Lewis has already reached the magical 1,000-yard mark. Meanwhile on the other side of the football the Panthers lead the nation in sacks with an excellent defense. My problem with Pittsburgh is that they are in rarified air so to speak with their highest national ranking (12) in 20 long years and head coach Dave Wannstedt is not exactly known for winning by large "margins". Getting back to Notre Dame this PRIMETIME opportunity is large for star quarterback Jimmy Clausen who is in the Heisman conversation courtesy of a lofty #3 national ranking in passer rating. Both Michael Floyd and Golden Tate are ranked #3 and #4 respectively on a national level in overall receiving yards. The big news for Notre Dame this week is that they get back the services of lead rusher Armando Allen (514 YR, 4.9 yards per carry) after missing the past three games with an ankle injury. Note that Pittsburgh when hosting Notre Dame at Heinz Field (home of the NFL Steelers) are 0-2 SU. In this series the ROAD team has actually WON-AND-COVERED 4 in a row! Notre Dame is revenging an overtime home loss to Pittsburgh one year ago
