Hollywood Sports

San Diego St. at UNLV
Play: San Diego St.

The Aztecs (6-4) still need to rack up plenty of style points to distinguish themselves in the Mountain West to earn one of the precious bowl invitations allocated to that conference. That should be enough to motivate this team after their disappointing 52-35 loss to Boise State last week in a game where they fell behind by a 42-14 halftime margin. But the Aztecs can build off the 470 yards of offense they generated against a good Broncos defense -- and they have covered 9 of their last 13 games after totaling at least 450 yards in their last contest. UNLV (2-8) may be a perfect foil for them as the Rebels have failed to cover the spread in 12 of their last 15 games against teams with a winning record. UNLV comes off a 45-17 loss at Air Force and they are a mere 8-22-1 ATS in their last 31 games after a loss by at least 20 points. The Rebels are also just 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games as an underdog of more than ten points. The Aztecs beat UNLV by a 48-14 score last season and should put a similar number on them again this year. Lay the points with San Diego State.

BEN BURNS

Illinois @ Minnesota
Pick: Minnesota +10.5

I won with Illinois last week. However, I feel the value is on the other side this week.

Last week, playing their home finale, the Illini were getting +14.5 points. They were also catching Wisconsin potentially looking ahead to its showdown vs. Penn State. The Illini jumped on top early and then hung on for the "cover," losing by 11.

The Illini have now lost five straight. Yet, despite that skid and despite the fact that they're now playing on the road, they're now the team that is laying double-digits. I believe that's simply asking too much of them right now.

The Gophers may not be the most talented team. However, they're still playing hard. At least they have been over the last month or so. In fact, they're 4-0 ATS their last four games, including an outright win over Iowa and a 7-point loss at Michigan State. They're now 7-0 ATS their last seven "November" games.

Note that three of Illinois' last four victories have come by three points.

Speaking of "close games," looking at the series history and we find that the recent meetings have been very tight. Listed as a +21 point underdog, Minnesota won outright at Illinois last season. That one was decided by four points, a 35-31 final. The previous season, Illinois won by three points, a 35-32 win here at Minnesota. The year before that was a 7-point game. You get the idea ...

Going back still further finds the Gophers at 7-3 SU/ATS the last 10 meetings in the series. In a game that could well come down to the wire, consider grabbing the "double-digits" with the home underdog.

Sam Martin

Ohio State University at Michigan
Prediction: Michigan

The best rivalry in College Football has been completely one-sided during the Jim Tressel era, with Ohio State winning seven straight meetings. Michigan has gone through two coaching changes in that time, and they finally have a skill advantage here this season, and we fully expect Michigan to finally break through win a win against their arch-rivals. Wolverines are a perfect 7-0 at home this year, but more importantly their rush defense has been superb here at the Big House and that's the only thing Ohio State even tries to do on offense. No way OSU can keep up with Michigan here, and the Wolverines win this one easily! 5* Play on Michigan.

Marc Lawrence

Ohio State University at Michigan
Prediction: Ohio State University

Hats off to first-year Michigan head coach Brady Hoke. Hes gone a long way towards removing the stench of the ill-fated Rich Rodriguez regime, directing the Wolverines to a 9-2 SU record that includes five wins in Big Ten play (Rich Rod won only SIX conference games in three years!). But even though the Maize-and-Blue will be anxious to scratch a 7-year losing itch to Ohio State, disparate results from last week along with a flood of OSU history ? have us on the take here. Ready? Ohio State is 4-1 SU and 5-0 ATS off a loss in this series, 5-2-1 SU and 8-0 ATS as Big Ten dogs off a loss since 1990 and is also an incredible 13-2 SU and 13-1-1 ATS in its last 15 games on the Big 10 road versus .700 or greater opponents. However, even more incredible than that is the fact that since 1947 The Ohio State University is 13-7-2 SU in games off back-to-back SU losses, with only ONE LOSS by more than 7 points (theyre also 5-0 ATS as road dogs in this role since 1980). Wow! Michigan cant match those numbers, posting a hopeless 2-13 SU and 0-14-1 ATS mark when playing with conference revenge. Even worse for Wolverine backers, theyve lost the money ten out of the last 11 times when favored over a league foe by less than 11 points. Throw in the fact that the Buckeyes are a stout 11-1 ATS after facing Penn State and there?s only one way to look in this high-noon rumble at the Big House. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. We recommend a 1-unit play on Ohio State.

UCLA at USC
Play: Under 58.5

Annual Pac 12 rivalry game for the pride of Los Angeles. UCLA (6-5 SU/5-6 ATS) gets up for this game defensively, but this offense is one-dimensional and has missed OC Norm Chow, who left after last season. Coach Rick Neuheisel has had to go back and forth between junior QB Richard Brehaut (6 TDs, 0 INTs) and junior QB Kevin Prince (8 TDs, 6 INTs) because of injuries or ineffective play. Prince is the starter now. USC (9-2 SU, 7-4 ATS) has hasn’t always been smooth second-year Coach Lane Kiffin, but they are winning. After facing a string of teams with flashy, wide open, balanced offense, it will help the Trojan defense to be facing this one-dimensional UCLA offense. And the Under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings between these rivals. Play USC/UCLA Under the total.

Sean Murphy

Maryland @ NC State
PICK: NC State -11.5

We cashed a ticket with Maryland in this matchup almost a year ago to the day, but we have no qualms about switching gears this time around.

Were it not for a heroic effort by WR Torrey Smith (now of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens), the Terps wouldn't have even been in that game a year ago. Smith hauled in 14 catches for 224 yards and four touchdowns.

This season, the Terps have regressed considerably, on both sides of the football. At 2-9 SU and ATS, they've quite simply been one of the worst bets in the nation, and I don't see them turning it around in their season finale, as they head on the road for the third consecutive week.

We cashed a ticket with N.C. State last week, as the Wolfpack won outright as a 7.5-point underdog against Clemson. In my analysis of that play, I talked at length about how this is a different Wolfpack squad now that it has a healthy defense.

Earlier in the season, N.C. State had a tough time containing anyone, largely due to a cluster of injuries on the defensive side of the football. We've seen a marked turnaround lately, as the Wolfpack have given up a grand total of 27 points over their last three games.

Of course, it's not just the N.C. State defense that has shone. The Wolfpack offense is led by unheralded QB Mike Glennon, who has thrown for just shy of 2,500 yards, 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season. Their ground game hasn't done much, but it hasn't had to, and it won't need to in this spot either.

Note that Maryland has been dreadful against the pass, allowing 8.0 yards per pass play this season. That number rises to 8.7 over the Terps last three games.

While N.C. State has managed to outgain each of its last three opponents in terms of total yardage, Maryland hasn't outgained an opponent since its season-opener against Miami. With a win on Saturday, N.C. State can improve its resume, and Bowl standing in the process. Look for another motivated effort from The Wolfpack in their home finale. Take N.C. State.

Steve Janus

Northwestern +6

If this game was played a few weeks back, my money would be on the Spartans to cover this low spread. The thing is, while Northwestern will be playing hard to try and improve their bowl position, the Spartans will likely take it easy and rest up for the Big Ten Championship Game, where they can win and earn a spot to a BCS bowl game. Motivation is the key play in this game, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if Northwestern won this game outright.

You have to ignore what these two teams have done coming into this game, especially when it comes to how well Michigan State's defense has played this year. If you don't come into a game fired up and ready to play, you aren't going to be great on that side of the ball. Northwestern has a pretty potent offense that averages just over 30 points a game, and I look for them to come very close to that mark this Saturday.

Northwestern is 24-9 ATS in their last 33 games as an underdog of 3.5-10.0! Bet the Wildcats +6!

UCLA vs. USC
Play: UCLA +16½

Once the Bruins heard that 'coaches' job was on the line they put themselves in position to play in the inaugural PAC-12 Championship Game. USC has dominated the series of late winner 11 of 12 including the last four meetings. Matt Barkley has 33 TD passes and only seven interceptions and still isn't considered the best quartterback in the conference. UCLA will have to control the clock and the ball to have a chance. Don't expect fireworks but...UCLA!

EZWINNERS

USC Trojans -14

The UCLA Bruins can actually earn a birth in the Inaugural Pac-12 championship game with a win in this game, but I don't see that happening. USC is 9-2 but they are ineligible for post season play. UCLA is on a three game losing streak in this series and the I think their chances of breaking it is slim against an USC that is surging and is the conference's hottest team. Offense has been a challenge all season for UCLA and they are going to have a hard time matching scores with USC quarterback Matt Barkley and the Trojans offense. USC has averages 42 points per game over their last four contests with Barkley throwing 14 touchdowns during that span. UCLA is just 1-8 against the spread in their last nine games as a road underdog and the Trojans have covered the spread in five out of their last six games as a favorite. Lay the points.

James Patrick Sports

Clemson vs. South Carolina

In-state rivals South Carolina and Clemson have met every year since 1909, but rarely have they clashed when both teams were enjoying so much success. The rivals will meet as two ranked opponents for only the fourth time in history - and the first since 2000 - when the No. 13 Gamecocks host the No. 17 Tigers in a Palmetto State showdown Saturday. Clemson leads the series 65-39-4, but South Carolina has won the past two meetings. The Gamecocks have won (12) straight regular-season, non-conference games and these South Carolina's seniors, who are playing their final game at Williams-Brice Stadium, have won a school-record (32) games. The previous mark was (29) set last year. Big Game James Patrick's Saturday College Football complimentary selection is on South Carolina Gamecocks. Look for the Gamecocks to remain perfect,

Wyoming vs. Boise State
Play: Wyoming +34.5

This is going to be much closer than people think. WYO played TCU within 2 td's and think BSU is very similar to TCU. Ton of seniors at BSU will have them tight early and would not doubt if we some jitter to's from Boies. WYO loses but easily covers this huge number. 4 star play

Vanderbilt vs. Wake Forest
Play: Wake Forest +2

What we want to do in this game is play against teams like Vandy that won 3 or less games last season and lost their last game in overtime if they are off one exact loss and are taking on an opponent that has a win percentage of .400 or better. These teams are just 2-12 ats in their next game. Wake Forest won last years game 34-13 and has covered the last 3 in the series and are 4-1 straight up at home when the total is 49.5 to 52. Vandy is favored here and they are a lousy 0-12 straight up vs teams with a winning record and have lost 9 of the last 10 in November. Look for Wake to take it.

Scott Spreitzer

Air Force at Colorado St.
Prediction: Colorado St.

The Rams enter their contest with Air Force in a nice situation. Classes have been out of session this week and CSU's football team has had no "distractions." It's been all about getting the game plan in order to stop the Air Force offense. CSU HC Steve Fairchild said, "This is a good week to have Air Force, when you don't have school. It reminds me of an NFL practice, because you basically have all morning to talk about what you're doing, then you come out and do it. Now, before they go home, we'll correct it in meetings. I like the schedule." And we are getting a little extra value due to the fact that QB Pete Thomas may not play. I don't see any real drop-off between Thomas and his back-up Garrett Grayson, who played well against TCU last weekend, throwing a TD pass and running for 53 yards on 8 carries. Colorado State enters on a 6-2 ATS run against teams with a winning record. Air Force checks-in with a 2-9 ATS mark following a SU win. I'm grabbing the points with Colorado State on Saturday.
