The Tide is already without suspended star defensive end Marcell Dareus and Alabama coach Nick Saban said it's unlikely that last season's ailing Heisman Trophy winner will make his season debut as Penn State visits Tuscaloosa for the first time since 1990 for this game, but the Tide have more than enough weapons to get the win and cover in this game.Robert Bolden became the first freshman quarterback in 100 years to start a season opener for Penn State, and he did well to justify Paterno's decision by completing 20 of 29 passes for 239 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the 44-14 win against Youngstown State. The step up in competiton cwill be off the charts this week as he makes his first road start against the defending National Champion Crimson Tide. Alabama's quarterback Greg McElroy isn't as quick on his feet as the mobile Bolden, but the senior who started all 14 games last season for the Tide certainly has the edge in experience and that will be the difference in this game. Both teams will have to put the ball in the air to win as Alabama allowed a national-low five rushing touchdowns last season, while Penn State allowed six to tie for the second fewest. Penn State has failed to cover the spread in six straight games in September while Alabama is 7-1 against the spread in their last eight September games. Lay the points.

Big price, but certainly for a reason. Where to even start here? The Bucs have dropped 22 of their last 25 road games, including a 4-3 loss last night in the Queen City and even worse is an 0-10 road record when revenging a one run loss. Starter Morton could be the worst pitcher in the bigs with a 1-11 TSR as an underdog TY and he carries a 0-7 road record (13.02 ERA) and he's 0-3 with a 14.00 ERA his last three outings.FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM

This particular day on the calendar (9/11) evokes a lot of memories and emotion across the country, especially in New York City for obvious reasons. But this is also an EMOTION filled day for the members of Wyoming’s football team who lost a family member earlier this week when freshman linebacker Ruben Narcisse was killed in an auto accident. What is so strange is that the accident occurred on the very same highway where 8 different Wyoming sports athletes lost their lives (9/16/01) in a fatal mishap. Of course on paper it would seem that the Cowboys have no shot at keeping up with an opponent who has stayed in the national Top 5 rankings for a longer stretch than any other team in the country. What makes things different though in Texas is that Colt McCoy who won a record 45 games is no longer the starting quarterback which puts a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Garrett Gilbert. On the road last week Texas missed a pair of field goals and could not cross the goaline on an opening drive where they made it all the way down to the opponent’s 4-yard line. In their 2010 opener the Longhorns also muffed a punt return while on defense a pair of potential interceptions were literally dropped. It is mistakes like these that can give an underdog like Wyoming hope and the Cowboys do have the experience of hosting the Longhorns one year ago at this time. Even though the final score (41-10) indicated a rout, Wyoming put a scare into Texas for an entire half. I will admit that last week Wyoming just “slipped by” a Division I-AA opponent (28-20 final score) who a year ago had a below .500 record. But it is worth considering that Wyoming did the exact same thing to open last campaign, before putting a scare into Texas for an entire half in week-two. Even though Texas has won the last three games in this series by a combined 92-20 count, tonight marks Wyoming’s first visit to Austin Texas since way back in 1978 when the final score (17-3) was extremely close. My database research indicates that Wyoming has COVERED FOUR IN A ROW when cast as a prohibitive “non” conference underdog of 21+ points which certainly is the case in tonight’s nationally televised Fox-Net affair where emotions will be running high for the visitor
