1 Unit on Atlanta Falcons -3

The 7-2 Falcons are rolling, notching their 3rd straight victory with a Week 10 win over Baltimore. That win, over a team many believe to be the best in the AFC, gives Atlanta a lot of confidence. Plus, playing that game on a Thursday night has given the Falcons a couple extra days to prepare for this one.

St. Louis is 4-4, but it has benefited from playing a favorable schedule. A win over San Diego is really its only impressive win, and it happened to catch the Chargers when they were struggling.

The St. Louis defense gave up 421 yards to San Francisco last week, and now it faces one of the most balanced offenses in the NFL. Quarterback Matt Ryan comes in red hot (7 TDs, 1 INT L3 games). He appears poised for a big day, considering the way St. Louis allowed Troy Smith to pick it apart last week. It is worth noting that St. Louis is 6-18 ATS in its last 24 home games after allowing 400 or more total yards in its previous game, losing in this situation by an average of 6.0 points.

The Rams are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a home underdog of 3.0 or fewer points, while the Falcons are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games as a road favorite of 3.0 or less. Lay the points with Atlanta.

Baltimore Ravens at Carolina Panthers
Prediction: Baltimore Ravens

As long-time followers know, laying big points in the NFL - especially with a road team - can be an uncomfortable wager to make and therefore it is not one made here without special consideration first. That said, it is certainly true that certain situations result in special opportunities and that is absolutely the case here. The Ravens are off of an extremely frustrating loss to the Falcons in Week 10. That game was played on Thursday so Baltimore now comes into this game with a rest edge. Additionally, the Ravens have a fantastic opportunity here as they can take out their frustrations on a Panthers team that is struggling to say the least.

Carolina couldn't even handle the opening kickoff in last week's game at Tampa Bay and it was all downhill from there for the dismal Panthers. Baltimore has an excellent track record as a big favorite. The Ravens also come into this game with extra motivation as a result of last week's last second loss. With a powerful ground game and a physical defense Baltimore dominates this game in the trenches and, after the way they lost last week's game, they will certainly show no mercy in this one! That spells B-L-O-W-O-U-T! Consider a small play on Baltimore minus the big points in early Sunday NFL action.

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings
PICK: Minnesota Vikings +3.5

Resting with a 3-6 SU record, Minnesota needs to crank things up a notch right now. One more loss and the Vikings can pretty much kiss their playoff hopes good-bye.

Beating Green Bay won't exactly be an easy task. The Packers check in to the Metrodome off a week of rest and two solid performances. The Cheeseheads drilled the Jets and Cowboys in their last two games winning by the combined score of 54-7! Fortunately for us, GB is a soft 10-19 ATS when priced as a division road favorite provided the Pack own a winning record.

There are plenty of angles that support this Purple investment too. In this series against Green Bay, Minnesota is a solid 21-9 ATS as long as the Packers enter off a straight up win. The Vikes have played well at home too facing a team that enters with serious momentum off a victory of 14 points or more notching a strong 22-9 ATS record including a perfect 8-0 ATS in this role provided Minny enters off a division battle. Finally, as a home dog tackling an opponent that enters off two or more straight up wins, the Purple are a reliable 15-8 ATS!

The Vikings have their proverbial backs to the wall right now and they need this victory like blood. Purple QB Brett Favre isn't about to throw in the towel and, in what could very well be his last game against the Packers, the grizzled veteran will find a way to get the job done. Take Minnesota.

VEGAS EXPERTS

Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville Jaguars

Despite the records, the wrong team is favored here. Jacksonville has lost four different times by 20 points or more this season and their defense ranks near the bottom of the league. They are dreadful at the betting window, going 2-12 ATS when favored, including 1-10 their last eleven at home. Worse Cleveland teams have beaten them each of the past two seasons.

Play on: Cleveland

Oakland Raiders vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Play: Pittsburgh Steelers -7

Last year Oakland went into Pittsburgh and won and did it in comeback fashion down 10 in the fourth quarter as they put up 21 points to win 27-24 back in week 13. This year Oakland is playing well with a 5-4 record and are coming off a bye. Pittsburgh is coming off a brutal loss at home to New England where they were manhandled but still fought until the final whistle. Look for the Steelers to get their revenge off last year and hold any and all lead they get in the game.

Buffalo Bills +6

The Buffalo Bills keep finding themselves in close games week after week, and as a result I'll take the value Sunday as they get 6 points from Cincinnati. Each of Buffalo's last 4 games have been decided by 3 points or less, with 3-point losses to winning teams in the Ravens, Chiefs and Bears followed by a 2-point victory over Detroit last week. After getting their first win of the season last Sunday, the Bills finally have confidence that they can finish the deal in close games. This team is playing with nothing to lose the rest of the way, making them very dangerous.

I cannot possibly see the Cincinnati Bengals getting up for this game emotionally, which sets them up for a big letdown spot making them vulnerable to getting upset. Cincinnati is 0-6 in their last 6 games, with most of these losses coming in must-win situations. At 2-7, the Bengals basically have no shot at making the playoffs and players know it. Cincinnati just cannot seem to put a complete 4-quarter game together, and they are turning the ball over at an alarming rate. During their 6-game losing streak, the Bengals have turned the ball over 15 times. The Bengals are 1-10 ATS as a favorite over the last 2 seasons, including 0-7 ATS as a home favorite during this span. Buffalo is 28-8 ATS in their last 36 games following a win by 3 points or less. Bet Buffalo Sunday.

Tennessee Titans -7

Our power line shows that the Titans should be 15-point favorites Sunday at home against Washington, giving us 8 points of value. Tennessee is 5-4 this season, which is impressive considering they have played 6 of their 9 games against teams with winning records. The Titans are scoring 26.8 points/game this season and allowing 19.9 points/game. In home games this season, Tennessee is allowing 19.2 points/game and 266 total yards/game while Washington is allowing 25.4 points/game and 415 total yards/game overall this season. We'll gladly side with the better defensive team in this one. Washington lost 28-59 to Philadelphia last week by giving up nearly 600 total yards to the Eagles. This defense is a mess, and the Titans should score at will behind a balanced attack. The Titans are 8-1 ATS (+6.9 Units) in non-conference games over the last 3 seasons. Playing on Sunday after a Monday night game is usually a tough task, and for the Redskins they have to be very low in confidence after the beating they took last week. The Redskins are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games when playing on Sunday following a Monday night game. Take the Titans and lay the points.

Insider Angles

Lions at Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys shocked a lot of people by showing up last week and upsetting what had been the hottest team in football in the New York Giants, while the Detroit Lions have the best record against the spread in the NFL this season.

New coach Jason Garrett deserves a lot of credit for inspiring the Cowboys to play to the best of their potential last week, which was something departed coach Wade Phillips apparently never could do. The problem for Garrett here though is that Dallas has now made their point vs. a hated divisional rival that may be most responsible for ending their season by injuring Tony Romo, and they have a big date with the Super Bowl Champions Saints up next on Thanksgiving Day.

That makes this game vs. what is perceived to be one if the worst teams in the NFL a dead scheduling spot for the Cowboys. As most teams have discovered this season though, there are not the same old Lions despite their 2-7 straight up record, which incidentally is an identical record to Dallas.

The difference between these teams is that Detroit has come to play every week, officially going a league best 7-2 ATS, a record that is 8-1 for those that bet them at +3 during the week last week in a game where they closed at +1.5 and lost 14-12 at Buffalo.

Lions quarterback Shaun Hill has quietly been effective wile filling in for the injured Matthew Stafford, as he has now passed for over 1600 yards while completing 60.5 percent of his passes, and since we don’t expect the same intensity from Dallas that they displayed last week, look for the Cowboys’ secondary to regress to the form that has seen them allow 242.0 passing yards per game on a whopping 8.8 yards per pass attempt here at home this season.

Besides, as improved as the Cowboys were last week, do not lose sight of the fact that Dallas still allowed the Giants to amass 480 total yards of offense. Look for the Lions to score enough points this game to drop the Cowboy to 0-5 ATS at home.

Pick: Lions +6.5

OC Dooley

Colts / Patriots Over 49.5

in a 4:15 eastern kickoff on CBS): According to the latest information received this morning, it appears that Indianapolis WILL have the services of banged up wide receivers Austin Collie and Reggie Wayne. This is critical since according to star quarterback Peyton Manning who has described his offense as “grinding” due to a myriad of injuries that started when his favorite target (tight end Dallas Clark) went down for the season. In the last five games Manning has actually completed “less” than 60% of his pass attempts with just 5 touchdown tosses along the way. But the oddsmakers have still posted a very high total knowing that Manning late this afternoon will be throwing against a very young New England secondary. As for the Patriots offense led by Tom Brady, they currently lead the entire league averaging near 30 points per contest. That juggernaut unit will be going up against an Indianapolis defense that lists a pair of starting linebackers “questionable” due to injury. Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney thrives on the fast track of artificial surfaces where he can use both speed and leverage to exploit less athletic opposing offensive linemen. But Freeney has been limited to just ONE sack in five games this season on grass surfaces, so the mere location of this heavy-hyped contest is critical. My database research indicates that Indianapolis is an eye opening 10-2 OVER the last dozen times that the team has come off a contest that actually stayed “below” the spot. Indianapolis is 5-1 OVER/ROAD when facing an opponent from the AFC East. Meanwhile up against an AFC South opponent, New England is 6-2 OVER/HOME
