Scott Spreitzer

Missouri at Oregon
Play: Over

I'm playing the Over between Missouri and Oregon on Thursday night. By now, eight years into his run in Columbia, we know that Mizzou coach Mike Anderson is all about quick athletes and a fast paced game. The team ranked 4th in the conference and 23rd in the NCAA last season in scoring, averaging over 77 ppg. They put up those numbers while making just 44% of their shots (147th in NCAA), which shows that they're all about quantity. The Tigers will take shots early in the clock producing more opportunities for themselves and their opponents than we see in most CBB games. This season, Anderson has a top-shelf recruiting class to combine with his talented returning players. We just saw Mizzou and Georgetown combine for 188 points in regulation, 213 if you include overtime. Missouri has scored at least 91 points in four of six games this season. Tonight's opponent, Oregon, will oblige to an uptempo game. The Ducks have scored at least 71 points in five of their six games. And defense, as we have seen against North Dakota and Duke, can sometimes be an afterthought as new coach Dana Altman gets his new team to buy-in to his philosophy. I expect both teams to push the tempo in this one. Mizzou is on an 8-3 Over run in non-conference games. Meanwhile, the Ducks are 8-1 to the Over in their last nine games, overall. Last season, Missouri beat Oregon 106-69. I expect another high-scoring affair tonight. I'm playing the Over between the Tigers & Ducks.

VEGAS EXPERTS

Arizona State at Arizona

The Sun Devils must win tonight to become bowl eligible and have a great shot at pulling the outright upset against rival Arizona, who has lost its last three games. ASU is 7-2 ATS its last nine visits to Tucson and has won four straight and five of six ATS. They boast the 17th best rushing defense in the nation and Arizona is averaging only 55 ypg overland its last two contests. As a favorite of 3.5 to 10 points, the Wildcats are just 12-27 vs. the number. Take the points.

Play on: Arizona State

Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors
Play: Phoenix Suns +2.5

Phoenix is in second place, but are just 8-9 on the season as the road has been unkind at 4-6 in their first 10 road games. Golden State is coming off a loss to San Antonio which put them at 2-8 over their last 10 games, but are still 5-3 at home. Look for Phoenix to bounce back as they win a shootout at Golden State. Play Phoenix

Valparaiso vs. Illinois Chicago
Play: Illinois Chicago +4.5

Valparaiso is 6-27 SU on the road the past 3 years. Valparaiso is 8-32 SU last 3 years and 0-3 SU this year when playing against a team with a winning record. Illinois Chicago is 2-1 SU at home this year where they are allowing only 59.3 points per game. Illinois Chicago is 5-1 ATS overall vs Valparaiso since 1997. Crusaders are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a SU win. Flames are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Horizon League. Flames are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning SU record. Flames are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss. Flames are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Flames are 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 games following a SU win. We'll recommend a small play on Illinois Chicago tonight!

Missouri vs. Oregon
Play: Missouri -6

Last year Mizzou opened up a can against Oregon. They smashed them 106-69 in a game that was a blowout from the opening tip. While I expect this one to be closer. I do expect another win and cover here for Missouri. The Tigers are 5-1 straight up and ats since 1997 vs PAC 10 teams and are a more talented bunch. Oregon is just 3-11 straight up and against the spread vs teams who average 77 or more points per game the past few years. They are also just 1-4 as a home dog in this range the past couple of years. Look for Missouri to take this one tonight.

SUNS VS WARRIORS
PLAY: OVER

A pair of uptempo offenses meet, both in the Top 10 in the NBA in scoring. Phoenix is No. 1, averaging 109.4 ppg. Of course, the defenses are terrible, with the Suns allow 111.9 ppg (worst in the league) and the Warriors allow 106.5 ppg, fourth most. The Suns are on a 5-0 run over the total and look for another offensive show. Play the Suns/Warriors Over the total.

Miami @ Cleveland
PICK: Cleveland

The biggest game of the season in Cleveland tips off where the Cavaliers host Lebron James and the Heat Thursday night at the 'Q'. The Cavs enter tonight's fray off a 19-point home loss to Boston while Miami checks in off a 19-point romp at home over the Pistons last night. It doesn't hurt Cleveland's chances that teams playing without rest off a double-digit win over the Pistons are 3-18-1 ATS of late. After bailing out on his hometown team in favor of taking his 'talents to South Beach', look for the culpable King to be held accountable for his 'decision' in front of his peers tonight as the Cavs improve to 10-1 straight up in this series. We recommend a 1-unit play on Cleveland.

David Chan

Phoenix @ Golden State
PICK: Golden State -2

No team is playing worse defense right now than the Phoenix Suns, who are giving up an average of 119.4 points during their past seven games.

Golden State certainly has the offense to take advantage. Sparked by their backcourt of Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry, the Warriors rank in the top 10 in scoring and three-point percentage. Ellis and Curry are averaging a combined 45 points per game.

Look for the Warriors to take advantage of Phoenix's soft front-court, too, with David Lee back in sync after missing eight games with an elbow infection. The Suns, lacking size and muscle, are last in rebounding.

Golden State is a respectable 5-3 at home. The Warriors have trouble against elite teams, but Phoenix no longer is in that class. The Suns have failed to cover in seven of their last nine visits to Golden State.

Phoenix is 13-3 OVER their last 16 games with Golden St. The Suns are 16-5 OVER after scoring 100 or more points in their last games. Phoenix is 7-2 OVER when playing with 3 or more days rest. The Suns are 5-1 OVER their last 6 road games. Golden St is 42-18 OVER their last 60 home games vs. a team with a losing record. The Warriors are 42-16 OVER their last 58 games as home favorites of 0.5 to 4.5. The Warriors are 5-2 OVER their last 7 games as home favorites.

EZWINNERS

Miami Heat -5.5

This is the game that everyone has been waiting for as LeBron returns to Cleveland. I'm sure the Cavs will be up for this one as well, but I expect a huge game from LeBron and company. Cleveland is playing hard, but they just don't have the talent to keep up with Miami in my opinion. I do expect Cleveland to keep it close early, but I expect the Heat to pull away in the second half for a double digit win. The Cavaliers are 0-4 against the spread in their last four games as a home underdog of 5 to 10.5 points. Lay the points with the Heat. .

Missouri at Oregon
Prediction: Oregon

3* graded play on Oregon as they take on Missouri set to start at 11 PM ET. Our proprietary sports handicapping model and simulator shows a high probability that Oregon will lose this game by five or fewer points. Missouri is just 5-15 ATS in a road game where the total is 150 to 159.5 since 1997. Anderson is just Anderson is 1-9 ATS (-8.9 Units) in a road game where the total is 150 to 159.5 as the coach of Missouri. Oregon head coach Altman 47-27 ATS (+17.3 Units) after failing to cover the spread in two or more consecutive games in all games he has coached since 1997. Supporting this graded play is a system that has produced a record of 95-96 making 39 units using the money line since 1997. Play against road favorites the money line in non-conference games and off a home loss. Take Oregon.

Miami Heat at Cleveland Cavaliers
Prediction: Miami Heat

All eyes will be on Cleveland, Ohio tonight when LeBron James makes his much-anticipated return to the city he scorned in the offseason, but while both teams have huge motivational reasons for winning this game, the fact of the matter is that Miami is much more talented side. Cleveland doesn't have a big inside offensive presence that gives the Heat trouble, and Miami won't have to crash the boards, meaning more fast-break opportunities for this Heat side. Much to the fans dismay Miami wins this one big!

1 Unit on Baylor Bears -9.5

Arizona State is 0-4 ATS in lined games this season. Going back to last season, the Sun Devils have failed to cover the number in their last seven games. ASU has been a poor investment in non-conference action. In fact, it is just 3-13 ATS in its last 16 against non-conference foes. The Sun Devils have also been a poor investment in the road underdog role. They are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games as a road underdog, and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog of 7.0-12.5 points. Baylor is 2-0 SU and ATS versus ASU the last two seasons, and the Sun Devils are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. the Big 12. Baylor is out of the gate fast at 5-0, and I expect the Bears to put it on the offensively challenged Sun Devils tonight. Lay the points.

Houston Texans vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Play: Houston Texans +9

Too many points, Houstons defense playing better, and Philly plays good defense at home. I expect a lower scoring game than the 51 points expected and for Houston to have some success with a balanced attack and keep this one interesting, Philly off a bad loss and looking to get back on track, I think the Texans are a team who are capable playing a good game and off a 20-0 shutout in a division game of a decent Titan team.
