His best pitching came at home where he was 9-2 over 15 starts with a 1.65 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and .187 opponents batting average. Verlander went 0-1 in his first two starts against New York this year, but his most recent was at home where he went 8 innings allowing just 2 earned runs while striking out 14. He will be facing Yankees starter Phil Hughes who went 6.2 innings allowing just 4 hits and 1 earned run in his start vs Baltimore, but that start came at home.
