ANALYSIS: Quick Lane Bowl -- This spread has changed 10 points since its opening because Nevada is losing its top players left and right to either the NFL Draft or the transfer portal (and head coach Jay Norvell left for Colorado State). I was waiting to officially back Western Michigan for when Wolf Pack QB Carson Strong, the Mountain West Player of the Year, announced he wasn't playing in the bowl. He just did. I still don't love giving 3.5 points so moneyline it is.

ANALYSIS: Miami's dogged, blitz-happy defense might get a belated Christmas gift if rookie Ian Book starts for the Saints as expected. The QB has yet to play a down, but New Orleans could have no choice with Trevor Siemian and Taysom Hill on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The Dolphins have fattened up against a soft schedule. Still, the slightest of favoritism for a defensively take-no-prisoners team going against the greenest of QBs seems out of whack.

ANALYSIS: The temptation is to back the host Saints as short favorites. After all, they just shut out Tom Brady. But this line is trending toward 2.5 at the sharpest books as the Saints deal with an emerging COVID outbreak. Miami expects to have Jaylen Waddle back from the COVID list, giving Tua Tagovailoa an elite target to go along with Mike Gesicki and DeVante Parker. Both teams are strong defensively and limited offensively. I like the Dolphins -- who have won six straight -- to take this to the wire if not win outright.

ANALYSIS: QUICK LANE BOWL -- This spread has swung by a whopping two touchdowns — and it may not be enough. Not only did Nevada QB Carson Strong bow out to focus on the NFL, but more than a dozen teammates have entered the transfer portal. The backup QBs have thrown just 24 passes all season, and the top six receivers are gone for various reasons, along with some offensive lineman and head coach Jay Norvell. The Wolf Pack bumps into the MAC’s top-ranked defense. Nevada’s seasoned defense mostly remains intact, but it might have to score on its own to make a cover happen against Western Michigan, which plays close to home.

The Clippers are already 0-4 ATS in the second game of back-to-back sets this season, so they are facing an uphill battle.

The biggest names who aren’t expected to play are Trae Young, John Collins and Danilo Gallinari. The Bulls could run away with this one.
